Popular Post FSSD Posted June 27 Popular Post Posted June 27 Missouri State departed the MVFC, and the Summit League lost Western Illinois, leaving it with nine teams. The Summit League likely aims to reach an even number of teams to simplify travel partnerships and scheduling. Neither conference is at risk of dissolving. However, opportunities to add schools and markets like UT-Arlington are rare and worth pursuing when they arise. 6 Quote

ND-fan Posted July 12 Posted July 12 If NDSU goes to FBS that will mean going up from 63 scholarships now to 85 plus increase on title 9 to be equal when Larsen stated they were not going to increase scholarships after entering into NCAA settlement where is funding going to come from to jump to next level. The two forum sports mega minds think this slam dunk going to next level but who going pickup funding if all this goes south they already have funding issues yes they have big Endowment presently but if they don’t have success they had in FCS money will be burned up pretty quickly. It just isn’t football it’s all other sports being in power conference we have seen failure on other large universities in US when things go bad. The question will state be willing pick up mess afterwards just because it worked with FCS doesn’t mean it will work again this jump requires enormous resources and costs of geographic is going to be huge in trade and finding teams that will want to come here. They will also need SDSU to probably to follow along is that going to happen. 2 Quote

FSSD Posted July 13 Posted July 13 Over the past decade, discussions about merging the top FCS teams with the G5 conferences have surfaced repeatedly, and it feels like this idea is gaining traction. When comparing conferences like C-USA, MAC, AAC, and Mountain West, their competitive level seems increasingly similar to the top FCS programs. The strongest FCS conferences, MVFC and Big Sky, house teams like the Dakotas, Montana, and Idaho, which could seamlessly form a competitive G5 conference. Recent events, such as Sacramento State's situation, may have sparked renewed interest in realignment, particularly for Montana and Idaho. The Big Sky's addition of the Utah schools could signal that more significant shifts, beyond just UC-Davis and Sacramento State, are on the horizon. 2 Quote
