SiouxVolley Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 Hunt has the height for replacing Dooley and Flores is likely a very offensive oriented libero. On paper, a top notch class. Quote
SiouxVolley Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 Looks like a combo right OH/ Setter from Southern Minnesota has verbally committed, 6'1" Abbey Bigelow, who graduates in 2019 from Kasson-Mantorville HS. http://volleymob.com/class-2019-recruit-abbey-bigelow-commits-north-dakota/ Quote

Nice get. Has Pryor been signed to an extension yet? If not, Chaves better get on it... 2 Quote

Nice get. Quote
SiouxVolley Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 Pryor may be attempting to get someone to replace Merseli. They both are listed as OH, but are really rover types. The typical OH only plays in the front row, but they seem much more mobile full time players including defense in the back row. UConn had a new coach last season, so it wasn't the same situation she signed for. Quote

Lost to Sac St. 3-2. But it is interesting that she chose to head so far west. At 5'9" I agree that she will more in be in the Merselli mode, hitting back row and some OH. She appears to be very good on defense and collecting digs. Quote

lawkota Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 She hits at the same % as Merseli, .168. It does seem odd but on the other hand, I could see someone in her situation looking at UND as a place to go. With the exception of Wichita St, UND right now is a program on par with all the schools in the American. So you move to a program that: a) has similar, if not better, talent; b) schedules aggressively; c) has a strong chance to win its league; and d) plays before 4X the crowd that you do now. 1 Quote

SiouxVolley Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 By UConn's schedule, they never played in Wichita this year, but she did play iin Peoria. The Midwest crowds, Wichita St drew over 7000 for its NCAA games on its home floor, seem to be enticing for eastern girls that won't get crowds except Penn St. Quote

The NDSU women sports that locals play are s**t shows, and no locals that are good want to play there. The Shanley gal probably isn’t even getting a scholarship and will almost assuredly redshirt. Pryor has a much higher bar than NDSU can even imagine now. Quote
SiouxVolley Posted November 15, 2018 Posted November 15, 2018 UND has signed 6’2 McCallister Gayle from Coronado HS, Henderson NV. https://www.ncsasports.org/womens-volleyball-recruiting/nevada/henderson/coronado-high-school10/mccallister-gayle Quote
UND Fan Posted November 27, 2018 Posted November 27, 2018 I talked to Pryor about Gayle a couple of months ago - he is very high on her! If I remember right, she visited GF last winter during a blizzard and loved it! We also offered another Vegas VB player, Trinity Sheridan. She signed with UNLV. Quote

Finding someone with the mobility you would expect makes it even more difficult. What we really need is a live arm on the outside who can consistently score even when we're predictable (the subtitle on that is 'poor passing'). Someone who can finish from the back row is also a big need, again for bad passes and as a legit option to keep the blockers honest. If we can find that in one person great, if not, that's why they get 15 subs. :-) Quote
