The usual thinking is that without a nickname, Sioux sticks around a lot longer. For example, if there were a new nickname, this site probably wouldn't still be SiouxSports.com. Before the whole state law thing and voting by the people...UND was to have a new nickname after 2010's retirement of the name, I believe it was December 2010 or August 2011, but the late retirement bled into that timeline and the NCAA accepted the cooling off period therefore 2015 UND will have a new nickname.
