Cratter Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 From 1987 on Red River has 12, Central 5, South 3, and Grafton 3. And from 2002 on GFRR and GFC are tied for the same number of titles.. Gotta love stats! I can make them look anyways I want Quote
LB#11 Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Watched the game on TV last night, counted 6 kids whose father I had played hockey with in Grafton in the late 1970's. What a Great Tradition GPR has maintained...GO SPOILERS. Quote
NDstatehockey Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 The only time they would have to turn people away is for the Grafton semi and final games. GPR in tourney equals money in the bank. proven stat The whole town of Grafton comes to the state hockey championship...i wouldn't be surprised if they break a record tonight for most people at high school hockey game in ND tonight.....go Spoilers!!! Grafton 3 - RR 0 after two goals from callahan and an empty netter Quote
onefortheteam Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Also article on G-PR win over Central 5-1. http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/194864 Looks like a rematch of 2009 championship. 09 was RRHS and Bismarck High Quote

Grafton 3 - RR 0 after two goals from callahan and an empty netter I would love to see this, but don't think they will break the record of 9,000 people set back when the tournament was first started at the new Ralph. I think if they are lucky you will see about 4,000 people at the game. A three quarter full lower bowl would be nice. Quote

Wilbur Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 hmmm i wonder who played in that record breaking tournament that year...it 2002 wasnt it? The year was 2002, good for you. It was GFC against Grafton (I believe you also know this). A big reason that it was such a well attended game was it was an Olympics year and a lot of people came because they couldn't see the game live (I think it was tape delayed until like 11 pm or something like that). tho0505 Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 http://www.valleynewslive.com/Global/category.asp?C=205870 Link to the championship game. 3rd period RR 2 - GPR 0. RR playing sound hockey right now, getting control in their zone and dumping into GPR zone and eating up time. Quote
tho0505 Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Riders score. 3-0. Riders 2011 state champs. Quote
Wilbur Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Talk about another empty house for the state championship game. Congrats to Red River, the best team won. Quote
Siouxhockey78 Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 congrats to RR they always come to play in state. Quote
Siouxmama Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Good for #10 from GFRR, who didn't feel he had to dye his hair yellow. Quote
sioux rube Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Good for #10 from GFRR, who didn't feel he had to dye his hair yellow. I agree. Not a big fan of it. Proud to say my daughter made the all state team for the 2nd year in a row as a sophomore. Quote
choyt3 Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Good for #10 from GFRR, who didn't feel he had to dye his hair yellow. Their hair was dyed? I caught the handshake line and thought both teams had yellow helmets. Quote
Siouxmama Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 I agree. Not a big fan of it. Proud to say my daughter made the all state team for the 2nd year in a row as a sophomore. Good for her! Quote
tho0505 Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Their hair was dyed? I caught the handshake line and thought both teams had yellow helmets. I thought the exact thing. Hair was exactly the same color as Graftons helmets. Quote
gfhomer Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Their hair was dyed? I caught the handshake line and thought both teams had yellow helmets. Each year, the dyed hair kids remind me of the goofer teams in the past 3-5 years who do the same stuff. Ugly, ugly, ugly. Quote
Mr. Boombastic Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Red River has actually been doing it since the late 90's, I believe a couple grads (Irmen, Potulny) may have brought the tradition to Minneapolis. As ugly as the hair looks it is pretty cool that the tradition has lasted for 15 years or so. Quote
Siouxhockey78 Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 i love the one guy that doesn't do it every year.... Quote
Goon Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Good for #10 from GFRR, who didn't feel he had to dye his hair yellow. I really like that Kid's game, he is solid... He looks more like a linebacker than a hockey player. Quote
Goon Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Each year, the dyed hair kids remind me of the goofer teams in the past 3-5 years who do the same stuff. Ugly, ugly, ugly. I was sitting in food line at the Purpur Arena and one of the Red River kids was standing behind me with his blond hair so I asked him what he is going to do with his hair after hockey season is done.... The kid replied with, "Oh, ah, I will probably dye it back when the weekend is over." I agree I think it looks stupid. Quote

gfhockey Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 ISnt it funny how botineau couldnt even make it out of the west and still got 3 all staters and GPR who finished 2nd at STATE got 1 all stater? And the goalie form minot won MR.HOCKEY? What a joke the voting as became. Quote
