ChadR Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago What's the reasoning for doing a silent committment? Quote

burd Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago There’s a surprising amount of noise about silent commitments. Quote

Because CHL teams haven't gotten over themselves & haven't come to the realization that NCAA Hockey is much better than the CHL. Once Makar did what he did at UMass and then translated it to the NHL seamlessly, that was basically the unofficial moment where the NCAA was officially better than the CHL. There's still a major Canadian hockey arrogance when it comes to hockey development. Once CHL teams realize that junior is still junior and they can't hoard players for 4 years anymore, they'll realize that they have to let guys move on to the next level when ready. I believe some franchises/organizations in major junior have realized this, but many still haven't. 1 Quote

That news would have significant ripple effects. Still waiting out the NCAA and the lawsuit that I've filed in Grand Forks county court for extended eligibility. If Carson Beck and Pavia get another year there is no reason I can't put the pads on and sit on the bench and fill water bottles in at least a JPL goaltending/Lamoureax hockey practice jersey. Quote

Based on the way some CHL teams are acting it's caused alot of players to be fearful to announce their commitment (More or less a direct quote from an NCAA coach) So that leads to the silent commitment. 1 Quote
atxsioux Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Alot of the CHL teams just don't even understand the NCAA recruiting rules present day either. Some CHL coaches were shocked that teams were recruiting some of the 16 year olds on their team (Obviously like we all know once it's January of your sophomore year, contact can begin) 1 Quote

Yeah, they're acting like babies because they can't hoard players for 4+ years anymore nor are they at the top of the development pyramid anymore. They obviously had more or less lost their place at the top of the development pyramid before the rules change, but the separate development routes still gave them a bit of an argument in order to have most high end Canadian players go the major junior route. Now that everyone can go to the NCAA, the CHL isn't special as a final development route before pro. They'll get over themselves eventually, you'd think at least. Hope to see a Carels & then Lin/Ruck Twins/Rudolph commitment at the end of the regular season Quote
atxsioux Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Depends on what mock draft you look at but as of present day a good chunk of North American players projected to go in the 1st round are either playing NCAA or already committed to an NCAA school. (and that doesn't include Mathis Preston, Carels, Ethen Belchetz, Ryan Lin, Daxon Rudolph etc) I think this summer will finally be the writing on the wall moment. If around 80 to 90% of North American players picked in the 1st round all have NCAA ties they'll come to the realization of the new reality. (especially considering there might be 0 USNTDP players picked in the 1st round) 1 Quote

It cuts both ways, as we are seeing more American talent in CHL then ever, but that makes it even worse in some of their eyes. 1 Quote

Would assume if he chose to do so we would lose someone, either a recruit or someone currently on the team. You would possibly have pairings: Liv - Verhoeff Mackenzie - Emery Strathmann/Laurila - Carels Strathmann /Laurila - Lindberg Jubenvil - Engels Someone would certainly leave in that scenario. Experience on defense is huge if you want a championship run, so Liv staying would be huge. Hopefully it would be going for back to backs. Lindberg could be pushed back a year tbh. Probably even should. Good player, but he could continue to get that offensive flair back. Come in more ready with a bigger role. Quote
