According to a source, all four Fighting Hawks coaching staff members — head coach Dane Jackson, associate head coach Matt Smaby, assistant coach Dillon Simpson and general manager Bryn Chyzyk — visited Fitzhenry a couple of weeks ago.

Fitzhenry informed UND's staff of his decision this week.

With Fitzhenry’s commitment, UND now has three National Team Development Program commitments of the same birth year for the first time ever.

Sounds like it was down to UND and UMN.
Great recruiting battle win for the good guys!  :)

Not sure how many we lose after next year, but room may be an issue next year without pushing off a player or two.  If you look at the 2027 top draft prospects, McKamey is one of the notable prospects, and would think Sanderson would be set to come in with Cooper Williams as well.

 Chase Surkan and Brock Cripps are other notable prospects.  Could possibly need another defenseman like Cripps, depending on how many we lose.  Opening up the CHL to recruitment sure makes a ton of great prospects available, and you will never have enough room for them all, nor should you, as you need those potential 4 year guys as well.

When was the last time we won a head-to-head recruiting battle against UMTC for a metro kid? Brad's article said all four coaches went down and visited Fitzhenry recently. That should tell you everything you need to know about where Dane's head is at. He understands that the Xs and Os don't matter unless you've got the Jimmies and Joes. It's been a while since I've felt this good about the direction of the program

Zellers and Blake were always going to North Dakota as legacy kids.

I had the same thought. I'd say at this point only Williams is for sure (and most likely Fitzhenry based on his draft projection) and maybe Sanderson based on his age? I do think this potentially may allow them to really zero in on the remainder of their forward targets. It's looking like we may need a center.

I was wondering if Boeser would count, but it sounds like Minnesota absolutely botched his recruitment in every way imaginable. So I'm not sure it's even fair to include that one

So we lose seniors Menghini, Malinowski, and Magnussen, and most likely Reschny, and possibly one to the portal.  With the 3 you mentioned, that would leave us room for only the Ruck brothers.

Mismash is a good one. He never lived up to the hype, but that was a big deal when he committed. Can’t remember how involved Minnesota was with him. I’m sure they were very interested, I just don’t remember if it was mutual

Boeser was always going to Wisconsin until they botched his recruitment/the relationship, so I think Minnesota didn't really work hard to recruit him until late, in which they botched it completely.

 

Fitzhenry is the biggest Twin Cities recruiting battle win since Parise IMHO

This was my initial reaction too, but I wasn’t sure if I was just getting caught up in the moment. Upon review however, I think this may well be true
