Also Scott Morrow, even though people have expressed issues there. Not sure what the actual deal was with Rizzo, but some people know if he just changed his mind after being committed to us for years. Rizzo (and his Dad) wanted more or less "guarantees" of top-6 minutes, PP time, etc. as a freshman. He was told you have to earn those at UND so he bolted for DU - unfortunately worked out well for him. 1 Quote

With Jackson/staff wanting O'Neill to develop another year in junior so he would be ready once he got to campus, he wasn't willing to do that, so they mutually parted ways it seems. Sucks, but that's life in the new NCAA Hockey world where the talent pool is so much better & deeper. O'Neill will be a solid NCAA player at a place like St Thomas, Colorado College, Miami, Augustana, but it may take him a bit to have that success since he's likely not fully ready for the jump up from junior to the NCAA Exactly, I really like his game, but if he came in next year we would be heavily weighted to grit without the upside we might need offensively a little sooner. Hate to be close to a championship team, but short another impact player or two who can contribute offensively right away. Someone will be getting a nice team guy. 1 Quote

Wilbur Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago So Mr. O'Neill is currently 19 years old. Another one of those examples of the NTDP kids not wanting that extra year in juniors because there is the mindset that "I've played against college and USHL teams for a whole year at U18, I'm ready for college hockey". Right or wrong, a lot of these guys see it as a mark against their NTDP time having to play that extra year in junior hockey. 1 Quote
I Ranger Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago I'm certainly not excited to see O'Neil go as he wasn't one I was expecting to bail if being pushed back based on where he is from but like we've known for a while something had to give with this forward group and still likely more to come. I'm a little afraid the same conundrum may come up with Lindberg as well. Quote

dustnyou Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Remember that Schloss never said a peep about Reschney and Verhoff before they committed. Because he didnt know about it… Quote
Wilbur Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Defensively there are potentially 8 guys coming back. Of the 8 the guys, the fence guys IMHO would be Liv, Wiebe, EJ, and Verhoeff. Cant imagine they'd all go, but can't see them all staying. A very good problem to have if the entire core is back, but then Engel probably gone to make room for Lindberg. Quote
SIOUXELEVENS Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago I think Liv, Wiebe and Zmolek are gone and Lindberg, McKenzie and Carels come in. 2 Quote

Probably a good chance Jubenvill hits the portal too. If that happens we’ll need to add a d-man who’s comfortable not playing right away, unless the coaches are good with Engel being the 8th d-man 1 Quote

Only 15 games for Jayden, and likely not to get in again this season unless an injury occurs. I think 9 is one too many on the d core side, but you never know with guys getting hurt. Nice to have a guy like Engel who is an older guy who has played tons of hockey that you can play 20 minutes in exhibitions and spot him if you need during the regular season. 1 Quote
