Blackheart Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 So you're saying he was the Howard Cosell of college hockey? More like the Bob Norton of lint hockey... Quote

hrkac Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 I know it's easy for Sioux fans to dislike Dubay because he would always rip on UND and look down on Grand Forks and North Dakota. But this is bad news for Sioux fans. Dubay brought a lot of attention to college hockey in the Twin Cities market and that brought a lot of exposure to UND and Sioux hockey. It's doubtful his replacement will be as much of a college hockey rube. Will they talk about college hockey as much? Probably not. Will weekend trips to WCHA cities be continued? Probably not. These were little things, but they added excitement and exposure to UND. P.A. will probably have that dork, Kevin Gorg, as his "hockey" guy. I think that guy is the biggest blowhard they have on as a guest. Gorg and P.A., now there's a set of eyebrows. The college hockey coverage will never be the same because the best thing about Dubay was that he was/is just a rube like everyone on this board. Quote

You will not hear much college hockey talk anymore on the Fan unless the Gophers are in the Frozen Four. Certainly, a good portion of the Friday shows will not be devoted to the WCHA like it has been, and their won't be any more visits to GF by the Fan. Quote
Shawn-O Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 oh well - he'll land on his feet KFAN had too for political purposes - too early here in the land of socialists to see how this turns out I always enjoyed my visits with Jeff up in Grand Forks and during the Final Five. Good luck to him on his road to recovery and his future endeavors. I'm torn on this Senate race, siouxguyinstpaul. I really want to vote for Barkley, but it feels like a de facto vote for Franken, which furthermore could contribute to fillibuster proofing the dems. Quote
Wreckincrew Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 I'm sure the road trips are done but I bet they will have a weekly college hockey related guest/spot. Quote
redwing77 Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 crap...what about "Beyond the Pond"? I'm sure KFAN will cancel this in favor of some sort of expanded fantasy football program. Quote
Goon Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 crap...what about "Beyond the Pond"? I am sure Nate Miller, and the guys can do the show with out him. I am sure all they need is someone to produce the show. Quote

Sad day for college hockey fans in the upper midwest.Like him or not he did know his college hockey albeit through maroon and gold glasses at times.Like I said before I have had a few beers with the man at Whiteys on 2 different occasions and he is a nice guy.I just hope he gets his life together and he pops up somewhere on a different radio station down the road. Yep I agree last year after the remote at the great water brewery Jeff sat and talked with people almost up until game time. Off air he isn't quite as much as a homer as he is on air, he is still a homer though. We also had beers with him at the South Gate a couple years ago and Jeff knows his sports pretty well. I think KFAN is going to suffer quite a bit without him. Quote

Looks like an offside at 2:46 that led to a goal for Minnesota. The guy leaves the puck out of the zone, but skates in before the puck crosses the line...all while in control of the puck. That'd be an offside, correct? Quote
