I wasn't aware of the 2nd team honors, just an opinion. 4 of 11 from 40+ yards and kick offs need more height and distance. 64% make percentage. I expect better.

The word is the process is not consistent. Each case gets assigned to an agent of the NCAA and both cases are near a coin flip. Arnell's case might be stronger with it being a 2nd major injury. We should know within the next 2-3 weeks.

I hope Klieman gets it for the entertainment value in Fargo. But I think it's a stretch.

Kick coverage has 3 categories. This is my analysis - 50% is the kicker and his kick (height and distance), 40% is the talent and effort from the players, and 10% is execution with avoiding blocks, taking on blocks, and containment. Our kicker was average so that's not a good start. We had 2-3 good coverage guys but too many average Joes. We need 5-6 good coverage guys and I think that will be better in 2017. Overall I think most are too hard on Siebel, that's a really challenging job, punt returner. My guess is there is hardly a guy on this forum with the balls to stand back and return punts at the college level. Kicker - Best man win. Taubs was pretty mediocre last year.

And the other side of it is when a PWO player earns a starting position and gets put on scholarship. It happens both ways.

Each situation differs- not sure what you want to hear. Some feel a scholarship should be guaranteed once given, but that's not reality. We don't have scholarship tenure.

Open season, in a respectful way. Tough spot for current Gopher commits and players. It was horrible to go thru 3 years ago at UND, I am sure no one called on our players and recruits.......ya right!!

Look for Palmborg to move to outside backer and give a boost to the position. That gives us 3 outsides with significant playing experience.(with Jake and Jade) Throw in a guy like Ray Haas and we're 2 deep at outside. O'Brien and Rodgers start at the inside spots and Hunt and Murray have a solid shot for the 2-deep. Jaxson Turner and Keelan Poole are really athletic, will have a shot at 2-deep. Geier might slide down to outside, too. Their is a couple other younger guys too.....the guys filling out their frames more are candidates for inside. I don't think the staff is too worried about the linebackers.

Don't hold your breath. It seems identity carries more weight than creativity or schematics and that's the way we are going to coach. Hopefully we can strike a balance offensively in 2017.

O -line. It was disappointing last year on many or even most occasions we couldn't get the ball into the end zone from the 2 yard line and in by smash mouth. We were stuffed way more times than even gained an inch. Not having that push across the front in goal line shows we were not a dominate bunch up front last year. We should be better this year.

I am not going to guess a number but it seems like the whole staff is sticking together this year and why wouldn't they, we have the strongest team in recent history on paper coming back next year. If 2017 is highly successful, look for some guys on the staff having opportunities to jump ship. I think Bubba and Schmitty are the most critical to maintain long term cause most of our identity comes from them.

I think Reyes has a shot to be drafted. Harris, not that close at this point. 1) He doesn't shut down Big Sky receivers 2) The staff never matches up Harris on the other team's best guy, telling me they don't think he is that type of player. That said, he never redshirted and could take the next step to becoming 'Harris Island' but he really really needs to improve before any serious NFL talk.

Tolna vrs. Frazee. Who has the better turkey? When is the recruiting dead period over.....!!

High Schools put their best athletes on the field to score......most often. I think that's most of what it is.

Not sure why. Redshirting makes the product on the field so much better, helps student athletes physically and gives them a better shot at graduating on a 4-5 year plan.

I would look at these options before using #68- 1. Another lineman on the team 2. TE on the team 3. FB on the team 4. Open try out - student body 5. Cheerleader - male or female

They played him deep enough on film....... He has a chance with spring ball and this summer to learn our system and be ready next fall. Most JUCO's and even top FBS schools dummy the system down to avoid mental mistakes and because of the high turnover of players (NFL draft and 'other issues') UND has a fairly complex defense with safety being one of the hardest to learn/know. What will help is Cole and hopefully Arnell and their experience.

That's my understanding, 2 starters, didn't play that are a big part of the team, and 5 scrubs that didn't/wouldn't play anyway. But, the story down in Fargo yesterday was illegal players played, on steroids, and there is still time for the NCAA to send SU to Frisco....... I'm going to go out on a limb and guess pot before anything else. Not exactly performance enhancing unless to calm one's nerves.

What's all this day by day talk then........ Can only help with recruiting, 5 year commitment by players, 5 year extension for staff.

Won't happen this year, he will be battling for the back-up spot. If Zimmerman and Boltman pan out really well with a serviceable 3rd option then maybe in 2018. I feel we just can't career him at back-up QB.

The same has been said at the Flagship. And, the recent safety and QB commits, both huge targets. And, mid year deep threat McKinney. Plus SU faithful are still dumbfounded by Johanason.
