I took from a couple guys their thoughts. It was clear heading into this game a 'typical' game plan for the UND offense probably wasn't going to work. So why did we do it? I'm not sure. Maybe I'm just a little less risk adverse than the staff. We even had UofUUtes tell us we couldn't run on Utah, right to our face, we didn't listen. I kinda disagree with UofUUtes that we couldn't throw on Utah, cause 1. we did, and 2. we pass protected damn well. Just imagine, UND gets an interception on Utah's 1st drive of the game, which happened. UND offense Play #1, play action pass to the speedster Izzy over the top for a TD, and schematically the rest of the game we are mentally prepared to run a little different game against Utah. What a difference that would of made!! My take away is - UND is probably OK against the remaining regular season running a 'typical' offensive game plan. We will not see that type of D-line again. But say a team like Montana, or NDSU in the play-offs has our run game stopped, are we going to figure it out or just play to keep the game respectable, and that's my biggest issue with the game last night.

Yes. Utah shouldn't have any issues with BYU but rivalries can get weird sometimes. I see a pretty big difference in talent. BYU game plan - Arial Assault.

You gotta be kidding knocking Studsrud in this game. Did you see Utah's D-line play? Utah had 1 safety and 1 corner that were lights out, too. I feel the only way some will be happy with Studsrud is if he throws a touchdown pass blind folded, just to prove he isn't locked on a WR.

Just seeing if you'd go with a better team (2008-09 Undefeated Utes) or better players in the 2017 Utes (or even last years 2016 Utes with 16 guys on NFL rosters)

Who wins, 2009 Sugar Bowl Utah Team (loved that game) or 2017 Utah team. Show your work.

When a coach can only muster up a 'decent' for describing his opponent, I don't think Hansen plays. I hope Utah continues to plan to play a lot of players in this game.

Watching Oregon at Utah, 2016!!

We have a lot of opinions on here, someone should be close to the final. Utes win big by quite a few posters, UND wins big!!! with a little humor (Thanks Geaux_sioux), and close either way.

UND - 24 Utah - 23 Need a defensive score and Utah to sputter with new OC, New O--line, New QB. Disterhaupt will likely be shadowing their QB on 3rd down cause of his legs, gets a forced fumble on him. We need to play really well cause Utah has some size and a lot of talent.

I think some were critical (me), of the 45 full back dives, by an "All-American" by the way. I didn't know most carries was a category for All American. I don't recall other triple options teams running the system that poorly and not making an adjustment. Cal Poly did run a few full back traps in the 2nd half but never established an outside attack. Hats off to Colgate, they made the triple option look pretty lame.

I have heard the Alerus might sell GA standing room only, which will put some pressure on the endzones, if the game sells out all seats that is. So, at least they are prepared for it if it happens.

Believe me, we can stop 45 full back dives from an "all american". Tank eats full back dives for breakfast!! No way Prothroe handles that all year long. Too much pounding, including the plays he doesn't get the ball.

When you are on pace for 45 fullback dives in a game, might want to try something else. Prothroe is overrated by the way. I don't need the lecture about Cal Poly basing everything off the dive, I know how it works.

Overall, BYU has been sloppy, too. They will have to sharpen things up from here on out.

How talented is BYU compared to Utah? I think UND could definitely hang with the Cougars. My take is Utah is bigger and more skilled, but BYU usually gives Utah all they can handle.
