(whoever tf they are?) - go with who UND knows...Midco Sports Network with Alex and Jake. THEY'RE YOUR TEAM people! Get behind them instead of "wishing" for "bigger" coverage by idiots who would only irritate you... CASE IN POINT - Midco was only able to bring you last Saturdays UND/Denver Hockey game as radio play by play with house video but if you had to listen to what idiots those DU radio guys were - you know how painful that was. Support your local broadcast team and support the businesses that advertise with them. That ensures games like this will always available for fans unable to make the trip. That's important too!

Had freebie tickets and enjoyed the game like the 700+ HS band kids who performed (and were GREAT btw) but that leaves 7000 as the in-house crowd for a late season playoff-making game...lame? Maybe or maybe not because the team is also mediocre and doesn't inspire a lot of confidence tha they could have a deep playoff run...they could have proven me wrong on the field but didn't:-( Wahh WAHH!

Alex is ALSO a soccer fan - and that's a soccer term. Doesn't make him a bad person for translating it into the hockey lexicon. I can tell you knowing him personally he puts his heart and soul into UND Hockey but as a sports guy he has MANY interests and incorporates them all into his call. Bottom line is his enthusiasm is sincere, honest and true - which I think UND fans would appreciate. Jack Michaels is the same...the enthusiasm of a real SPORTS fan calling a game - we should be glad be have BOTH of them calling UND sports. There are NO local gf media personalities (aside from TH) who could pull this off for ANY UND sports right now OR please feel free to name some if you can....

Dakota Commercial has more vacant commercial properties in this town than I've ever seen! Sure they OWN all the commercial property...they just don't want to RENT the commercial property unless it's at "their" rate. Look around - for example. Golden Corral closed down 6 years ago. DC converted that space into a strip mall that has never been occupied by more than a car dealership for a couple months as their location underwent street construction. They have "space available" signs everywhere else in this town. Maybe they could have cut Bed Bath and Beyond a break....considering the current retail situation in GF....guess not:-)

He was a highly touted running back out of Mahnomen signing on to be the "NEXT BEST THING" for the ag college but was never the same after being publicly humiliated by "the strip" and went on to become a mediocre accountant mostly due to the poor quality and lack of marketability of his ag college degree. BTW - Ask Sam Humann what his ndsu degree got him? OH WAIT!!! Sammy "YOU MADE THE RANTS TOO LONG" never made it more than a year at ndsu...so he never got near graduating....oh well...I'm sure he's done well for himself.:-/ Wahhh WAHHHHHH!!!!!

The AG college was considered magically UNBEATABLE for all those years until a goofy defensive player (LOVE Mike Mooney) snatched an interception and ran it back for an improbable touchdown and the tide turned for more than a decade until the bison fled their league for "higher" ground. Time for UND to stake some claim to that land too! Maybe not with a win but I think Bubba will put a good scare on them this year. PERFECT calling card for our entrance into the MoValley next year! Coming for ya Bizooone:-)

Wow you're right - who could ever compete with the greatest fan barn ever created for an ag college...but just think if they filled that barn with cows and pigs?? THEY COULD FEED THE WORLD!!! Oh wait - I'm just looking at a ag college home game from last season and they're showing the crowd - IT IS filled with cows and pigs!!! (and that's just the cheerleaders!) It's ON d-bags! :-) PS - and stop acting like you're too "BIG TIME" to talk about us on BV - it might not be this time or for a couple more years but you WILL lose to UND on a regular basis when we're back in a common conference. Casa Mexico on the east side puts MiMexico to shame but you have to find them and YES travel to EGF for decent food (I know that's hard for some southenders in GF) Half a block off business 220 just past McDonalds - between the highway and Hugo's. GO THERE - you won't regret it.

Here's another one for the memory banks and I'm not sure I remember it right either but WEB'S DINER? Gateway drive...there's a Dobmeyer Bail Bond office there now.

NOEL'S! Yes - I was thinking about that place but couldn't remember the name. It was one of the first truly international cuisine restaurants to come to GF. We did a TV commercial for them and the owner was a very nice Pakistani guy. (NOT Babu Bhatt but close!) The food was AMAZING but unfortunately beyond most of GF's palate back in the '90's. He did a spicy stir fried rice and chicken dish that was AMAZING. The place had been a former small diner downtown (counter space and a few small tables) and he was around for awhile but I think the flood did him in.

Braved the "construction zone" (READ: MESS!) in downtown tonight to hit up Thai Hot 3 across from the Empire. My wife and I had been there before when they first opened and had a great meal but on a Saturday night at 6:30pm we walked in to a totally empty restaurant in the middle of a orange cone construction mess. The waitress jumped up, happy to see us, and took great care of us for another fabulous meal but they're clearly suffering the effects of being in the middle of a construction zone. They have a menu that would confuse most Mexican restaurant menu veterans but don't be intimidated by all the choices - they have a TON of great sushi rolls along with traditional Thai noodle dishes but also a lot more. Try the baked mussel appetizers or the scallop shooters - amazing! We ordered our dishes medium hot and I had a burn on my lips and a smile on my face the entire meal. You'll find a lot of things on the menu that sound great and don't forget your wallet but it's worth it. It really sucks they have to put up with all the construction downtown and they're a place that could use a hand (or a VISIT) to keep them in business through this difficult time. GF needs more than just another stupid bland burger restaurant. WE REALLY NEED AN INDIAN RESTAURANT but that's another rant:-) Give Thai Hot 3 a shot downtown....even if you need a map to get there!

In case you haven't noticed, the "Home Team" is getting their *ss kicked! The only reason WDAZ is even part of their name is it's on their FCC license. (based on their tower between GF and Devils Lake) The anchors and reporters (make that 1 "reporter") on WDAZ already refer to themselves as WDAY news. Most of their stories originate from Fargo. They have 2 bad anchors who can barely read and 1 full time reporter who today chose to report on "what would you do if you won the lottery?" instead of an impactful local GF news story. That wasn't even low-hanging fruit. It's fruit that has already fallen on the ground! WDAZ has already been transformed into a bureau operation - they just act like they still have a "local" newscast. Shameful!
