  1. Shirley, on paper doesn't have the academic and research background for the job. That's why he is at Minot St. The PhD granting school matters so much, as it should be an AAU school. Granted, Shirley went to grad school at Harvard, but in education, not in a real science.
  2. Wells Concrete makes prefab concrete panels for construction. It has three MSP area factories now, as they have plenty of need there. When Concrete, Inc, got bought out, that was the beginning of the end. MSP based companies also seem to generally dislike outstate offices and factories. https://www.wellsconcrete.com/careers/ A worse situation was when Ecolab closed its Grand Forks office and dropped 144 workers here. Don't remember the division’s old GF name, but another example of selling the business to a bigger company, the jobs here get cut. https://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/news/2012/10/18/ecolab-closing-grand-forks-office.html Edit: Lystad’s was the name of the Grand Forks company that was bought by Ecolab, and then dismantled its Grand Forks operation.
  3. Wells is shitting down its production operation in GF, which in the past has mainly been been in the oil industry and agriculture. It will continue to supply the area through its Albany plant. http://knoxradio.com/news/local/wells-concrete-close-gf-production-operation
  4. There are other possible reasons that the Arizona’s and USC may be upset by the PAC12 headquarters in San Francisco. The PAC12 leadership sees itself as on par with the NFL and spends like it. https://www.mercurynews.com/2019/06/12/comparing-pac-12-expenses-to-other-power-fives-is-spending-in-san-francisco-reasonable-or-excessive/. The PAC12 HQ takes almost 1/8 th the income and is located in a very expensive city to do business. The SEC, Big 12, Big 10, and ACC HQ cities are much less expensive. https://www.mercurynews.com/2019/06/12/comparing-pac-12-expenses-to-other-power-fives-is-spending-in-san-francisco-reasonable-or-excessive/
  5. Here’s a story about advertising worth of FBS athletes. It may be a couple hundred for most, but very high for stars. https://kval.com/sports/how-much-are-college-athletes-names-and-images-worth
  6. St Thomas isn’t a sure thing according to Douple. Might not hear until April in another article. https://www.tommiemedia.com/news/exclusive-st-thomas-could-learn-di-fate-in-january-summit-official-says/ Augie would be the next option. A DI League doesn’t take two moveups in on year as then then the moveups can’t play a full schedule. The Southland did this and had to reschedule games in the conference season as more than three non DI games can’t be played.
  7. Augie boosters put this up this week in Sioux Falls near campus: https://mobile.twitter.com/ChaseLancaster3/status/1189022864269291526?ref_src=twsrc^tfw|twcamp^tweetembed&ref_url=http%3A%2F%2Fusdcoyotesports.proboards.com%2Fthread%2F2163%2Fsummit-league-expansion%3Fpage%3D39
  8. Jobs are also destroyed by bad management. Just saying.
  9. At least third in the Summit and making the finals in the tournament. UND shouldn’t need rebuilding years at the Summit level.
  10. Sponsorship income is always taxed.
  11. It seems something is up with UW-Eau Claire.. Either they have given up on their dream of DI hockey in a new arena, or they will move to DII and drop football and start DI hockey.. https://www.dailyunion.com/sports/wiac-uw-eau-claire-officially-brings-back-baseball-adds-men/article_64b76d1b-2fe9-55af-98cf-d36f63cb9be8.html Tite IX would be messed up except by the DII option, but they wouldn’t need the huge and expanding band then. The GLIAC and WCHA would probably add them. The GLIAC needs more baseball, M soccer and W lax teams too, and UW-Parkside is a member. The new 4100 seat Sonnentag Arena is expected to start construction this month which UW-EC will pay for almost half. UWEC also has the students voting on student fees next spring. https://wqow.com/news/top-stories/2019/10/08/plans-move-forward-on-eau-claires-sonnentag-event-and-recreation-center/
  12. Most assuredly.. But Carson wasn’t a national celebrity then.
  13. It seems hockey at UND would be hit more by the rule. FB ads won't be big even at NDSU. Carson Wentz has ads now, but there wasn't so much ad demand for him in school.
  14. The hotel will be named, Olive Ann, named after Olive Ann Beech, who was a cofounder of Beechcraft. http://knoxradio.com/news/local/gf-downtown-boutique-hotel Where is the new construction going? Thought is was across the street from the old First National, but a development called the Argyle is planned for that spot.
  15. This video says science has disproven Darwin’s theory of evolution happened, as the science behind it is so lacking in complexity to explain away the diversity of species. It is agreed that the DNA of all species would need an original template from a vast intellectual source, much like a computer code. This is not by believers, but great minds in sciences, like microbiology, computer science, and genetic scientists. Creation of new proteins isn’t possible in evolution, because the amino acid sequences needed to form them must be absolutely correct. Proteins to work form really intricate patterns and nearly all the attempts have been fruitless. Micro evolution works among species, with longer beaks and claws and different feathers, but forming a new species has never ever been shown and defies genetics. Almost all the species occurred almost simultaneously on the fossil record, which is impossible by Darwin’s theory Even forming a new protein would result in the death of a species if it isn’t exactly correct. Most of Darwin’s theories says several changes are occurring simultaneously, when one doesn’t even happen. The Universities and professors want to reject this new science because they refuse to accept truth and makes them so uncomfortable. So many books and majors depend on the truth of Darwin’s theory, which is now been flatly refuted as blatantly false and wishful thinking.
  16. She'd have to get college credentials.
  17. There's a poster who is a UND and U Wyoming grad who is in Colo. He is a football and hockey fan, but haven't seen him post lately. HayDuke is the poster.
  18. Hired the mbb coach Sather. Hired the w soccer coach, and they have had a record winning season. Hired the vb coach. He needs a few years. Arguably, put pressure on Bubba to replace his OC. Same with Berry with his former assistant. Feel much more comfortable with his coaching decisions, and he seems to have candidates lined up for the ones that may be open.
  19. Here’s the Vandal board. https://247sports.com/college/idaho/board/103901/Contents/upchuck-a-finalist-137679076/ Staying FBS as an independent would have cost millions more a year with the Kibbie Dome, but those Vandals fans never understood that.
  20. There is an interview that the Florida Panthers now want a downtown stadium in either Miami or Fort Lauderdale for the team to play. The American Airlines Arena in Miami does not have a hockey layout. The Panthers have five years remaining on their lease in Sunrise, which is far away from many possible fans. Maybe this is the start of them getting ready to move.
  21. Appalachian St’s was $5.0 million in 2015, their last at FCS. It is now $8.5 million and they are ranked at FBS.
  22. A just do google searches like “new stadiums”, or “FBS growth”, as I’m interested in what is changing.
  23. He might have an option at Charleston Southern, his alma mater, but that’s about it. He’s dug a hole for the program to get out of.
  24. A new 8000 seat minor league stadium may be built in Shakopee, and it may get an American Association franchise like the St Paul Saints and FM RedHawks. https://ballparkdigest.com/2019/10/28/new-large-ballpark-pitched-for-suburban-minneapolis/
  25. Nice story about UND’s freshman: https://www.grandforksherald.com/incoming/4743074-UND-hopes-winning-local-recruiting-battles-pays-off Hopefully, this is the breakthrough class.
