Augie meets with the Summit next week. http://m.startribune.com/move-to-division-i-will-cost-st-thomas-stability/562294522/ Hope they get a dear john letter.

Found this rather surprising. The highest rated stadium was Allianz Field. The next highest one is where the St Paul Saints play. The Gophers stadiums fill the rear. https://www.google.com/amp/s/bringmethenews.com/.amp/minnesota-sports/with-allianz-field-complete-we-rank-the-best-looking-twin-cities-sports-stadiums

Think SCSU was extremely fortunate by the timing of the NCHC. Mankato just missed by a sliver two times. But you'll will win WCHA titles as a result. If periphery NCHC teams leave, the whole situation changes,
-
Offering all UND's sports and more, having an elitist MSP attitude, would the UST-UND rivalry exceed all others? Like little Gophers in all sports, If the build a new arena on campus, if they get in the NCHC with that arena, and getting a DI waiver from the NCAA which appear to be likely now to me. In addition. their use of Allianz Field for fb could be huge.
-
The NCHC has been the most successful league with teams in three time zones. That pretty much refutes your Big Ten argument. No need to become limited in geography like the NSIC. ASU might prefer a PAC12 type league which may be started by the Alaska(s). But so could DU and CC if there are big name schools.
-
ASU's tiny rink was the reason and their new rink changes everything. If UST had a DI program when the NCHC started. they would have been in. And SCSu would have been out. St Cloud was a closer substitute for MSP than Mankato. The NCHC would have to have the periphery teams exit before a fourth Minny teams gets in.
-
PFW swept UND today. But UND beat WIU Friday, so they are not in last place.
-
If UST gets approved by the NCAA, Augie will be left out of the Summit for now. Wouldn't surprise me if Augie starts hockey, as the Sioux Falls USHL team draw big crowds. At least then Augie will DI in something and join Mankato and Bemidji as NSIC DI members in one sport. Maybe Minot St to make 10 WCHA members. UMary when UST upgrades for the NCHC. .
-
Can see the day that UST gets into the NCHC if they have their own arena and if they have a strong program. Mankato would be forever left out. Arizona State would probably get in with them. All the schools like the idea of being in the MSP market.

Thought a newspaper rumor was that a ~5000 seat rink would be built by Allianz Field. Can’t find the link. The D3 board says St Thomas is looking at acquiring residential property for a 6500 - 10 k seat rink. http://www.d3boards.com/index.php?topic=4550.93375

This St Thomas article was written just days before they announced the Summit invitation. http://www.citypages.com/news/excommunicated-st-thomas-proved-too-good-at-sports-and-building-a-college/561900561

This situation reminds me of after the dotcom bust, and a Grand Forks citizen told me that Amazon in GF was a bust as the penny ante stock price was so down. But it proceeded to go up by thousands over the coming years in spite of the blowhard's comments. I deleted that post because I going to be believe in my idea as the right thing for UND and not listen to a blowhard who thinks he's an expert when he has shown no knowledge about the subject, not even presenting thoughts except bashing.
-
Wrong again as usual. The spelling nazi poster from the MSP Wisconsin suburbs said I believed "that UST could get in the SEC." I didnt believe that UST could get an exemption, but I do believe that DIII to DI rule should have had many years notice. Its unfair to members how one day a move from DIII to DI would be allowed and the next day it would take 12 years.
-
Apparently, UST's Summit bid has not deterred Augie from one too. But suspect it does, or delays it by years. Adding two moveups in the same year means the conference can not have bb double round robins as four sub DI games are not allowed. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.argusleader.com/amp/3864220002

Earlier had said a Saudi - Iran “war” incident was almost inevitable. It happened a couple week ago, and oil prices have almost returned to what they were, pre-drone attack. We can thank Texas and North Dakota shale for that attack not being an economic catastrophe. https://www.forbes.com/sites/judeclemente/2019/10/03/texas-north-dakota-and-new-mexico-leading-the-u-s-shale-oil-revolution/#218aa7771acc

Said this before and got mocked, but St Thomas is a legitimate candidate to go to the Big East with time and success. Charley Waters said the St Thomas has actually talked to the Big East. Sure that UST wants tips from like Creighton to be prepared for a long term journey of at least a decade, the Summit < MVC < Big East. That’s the power of the MSP TV market. https://www.twincities.com/2019/09/21/charley-walters-its-vikings-fault-theyre-stuck-with-kirk-cousins/

Summit movement can set clocks. Like that is projecting. You are just a foolish poster that wants everything the same, which by definition in the Summit can’t happen unless it’s schools are upgraded west. Maybe stability is possible in the Big Sky, but that league just flounders and become non-competitive. Getting state flagship and land grant schools together will stop that happening in the Summit. The league would be much more prestigious than either the Summit or Big Sky is now. If another layer of FBS schools begins in Texas, UMKC and ORU would join them if possible, but not for FBS for themselves. Just lIke UTA and UALR. Or even if CUSA splits, ORU and UMKC would beg for non-fb spots. Just moving to FBS in a lowly G5 league grants so much more credibility for its programs, unlike FCS
-
ORU and UMKC only came back because the Summit was the most palatable option. Both would leave in split second. Unlike UND which wants portion of MSP, both schools want a tiny sliver of Dallas and Houston. They want a conference more solidly like what Tulsa and Wichita St have now. When the northern Big Sky joins, their travel would decrease overall and academic and athletic prestige would only increase over what they have now. It’s a no brained for those Presidents. You need to harass the Montana President so he doesn’t make a major mistake in your eyes. The Summit with the Northern Big Sky schools would no longer be a garbage conveyor spitting out schools every year which is its history. It would finally be stable, which you are much opposed too.
-
The VB conference schedules aren’t mini mirror images this year for UND/NDSU so it appears travel partners aren’t used, even though they should be.
-
You’re like a bison fan that insists ORU, UMKC and WIU want an upper Midwest league. The Summit makes WIU and ORU key members based on their sports, which is insane.
-
More about how Gopher hockey has lost its crowds. St Thomas hockey will have them, at least initially. The rivalry will be intense, especially for UST. St Thomas has 22 sports, with baseball, M/W lacrosse, m/w swimming and m/w soccer. That wouldn’t help the Summit for at least five years for baseball and men’s sipoccer requirements. Bet if when Summit League starts FBS, it will also sponsor women’s lacrosse with new teams in addition to UST.
-
Remember getting flack for saying St Thomas concocted being expelled. No actual official from the MIAC actually commented on that. UST have had their sites on the MVC all along and probably beyond. The MVC needs more private schools like Creighton in their footprint with a big metro population.
-
Summit League could take over NCHC to survive?
SiouxVolley replied to SiouxVolley's topic in NCAA News
Only started this forum if St Cloud St and UMD moved to DI, and even then would have one short. -
Hockey will be their top sport. MSP needs a college hockey team and the WCHA - or what’s left of it - can return to the XCel - this time with UST, Mary and Minot St. And theoretically they will continue with the St John’s fb rivalry.
-
IMHO, that means Augie won't get an invite. Thought the Tommies were planning a 5000 seat arena near Allianz Field. A WCHA bid is not far off. But when St Thomas finishes its DI transition, the MVC would want them for MSP eyeballs.
