UND lost today to Denver in a rescheduled game 3-0. The scores were closer than I expected. Tiffin had an interview where he said passing was a major issue and their transition game was good. Looks like their making strides in passing.

Bozeman looks like it’s tossed a bid in for the 2026 Winter Olympics. Five other American cities are interested. No idea of the status, but Bozeman could get an Olympic quality rink and hockey would be a natural. http://www.bozeman2026.com/ Sorry, but Milan and other Italian cities have already won against a bid by Sweden. No American city bid presumably because LA won the 2028 games in a deal with Paris.. But Bozeman needs a decent rink for a future bid.

A story on ACHA D1 teams and their growth. Mentioned as possible moveups are Iowa, Nebraska and Maryland. https://thehockeywriters.com/college-hockey-trailblazing-acha/

A renamed Summit with the Montanas, Idaho, EWU and Weber and less UMKC, WIU and ORU. That would be immensely stable with flagships. No more dealing with a merry-go-round Summit. Agree that hockey will see ten members. FBS, because if the NCAA splits into FCS and FBS divisions, hockey could be hurt.

Augie is a backup in case St Thomas doesn’t get the DI waiver. Would think Lindenwood would be interested, as it’s not to far from WIU, but probably prefers the OVC. Southern Indiana could have its name in as its been pursuing DI, but it wants the OVC as the primary spot as it has a big new arena, and the OVC plays its tournament now in Evansville. Washburn, w/o football, is another school as Topeka doesn’t have a DI located there. All the “southern” schools would be susceptible to leaving.

I 'll get the last laugh. Never seen a more ignorant bunch on conference realignment as they have never experienced it. But to get this straight, a Bozeman article today says the BSC is bloated and needs to split, but everything is hunkydory and won't change according to cat fans.

On bobcatnation, a poster bas admitted that MSU President Cruzado has given the Big Sky termination notice. Two years are required for football for no exit fee. That means a new FCS conference which I talked about here will be forthcoming. http://bobcatnation.com/bobcatbb/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=46779&start=80

There are Big Sky schools that are spending $'s on athletic facilities improvements, and there are those that are not. The Big Sky will split along those lines and the lower part will backfill with Dixie St and CWU. https://www.bozemandailychronicle.com/sports/bobcats/football/facilities-playing-part-within-dynamic-of-the-big-sky/article_c4a2647b-d25a-5dd3-a20a-ca01240ac503.html

So now the Big Sky wants to slim down or split. https://www.bozemandailychronicle.com/sports/bobcats/football/number-of-teams-leaves-big-sky-with-uncertain-future/article_d6238bb4-3a16-5b29-8ff6-0e5f1a960684.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=bozchronsports

The American got a waiver on their championship game for two years, so they don’t need to expand right away. https://www.inquirer.com/sports/temple-football-american-athletic-conference-smu-mustangs-20191019.html Talk is they would add Buffalo, or UAB, or Navy or BYU if it came to that.

UND actually beat ORU last night away, 3-2.

Looks like MLB will be reducing its draft and cutting minor league teams, like rookie leagues. For the Twins, that would mean Elizabethton (TN) gets cut. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/27874510/reports-mlb-proposes-overhaul-minor-leagues-elimination-40-teams

The Winnipeg Jets nine year sellout streak comes to an end, in part due to bad weather. https://winnipegsun.com/sports/hockey/jets-fans-still-fueled-by-passion-not-fooled-by-prices

Didn't realize that Minnesota almost had a team in the Continental League. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continental_League The proposed teams were : New York Toronto Minnesota Houston Denver Buffalo Atlanta Dallas That proposal forced the AL and NL to expand immediately with a New York NL team, Houston, moving Washington to Minnesota, a new Wash Senators, and a second LA team. And then repeat in the late 60's. Before my time so didn't know.

And because of division scheduling, the Twins got to play almost half their games against the Central Division of AA teams.

Nashville also has been at a high pace of growth, attracting fans by its culture and entertainment, no state sale tax and moderate weather. Perhaps this is proof that with the demand the Predators want college hockey nearby with a new rink in Clarksville and Austin Peay. One other city that should look into college hockey is Tampa, but the local schools are limited: DII Tampa and Florida Southern and G5 USF. Presume that Lindenwood will take the DI plunge with the Blues practice facility.

From Stub hub, the teams with the highest ticket demands: Guess Vegas has so many hockey visitors, but maybe that’s true also for Nashville. The Blues have moved up after last year.

UND lost to the bison 3-1. UND has also lost to SDSU 3-1 this weekend, and sdsu is historically bad in the sport. Needs some big and tall time recruits.

This study says crime has gone down in the Bakken core because there is so much economic opportunity. https://www.heartland.org/publications-resources/publications/research--commentary-fracking-boom-lowered-crime-from-north-dakota-residents The attached reports say fracking was worth $4000 to an average American, as electricity, fuel, and Nat gas would have more than doubled without it.

Dan Hawkins of UC Davis is an example of a coach we need. Continuously make major adjustments during a game and do something unconventional on occasion. Not afraid of change and gets the players excited by his approach. Bubba doesn’t seem the least bit flexible in his approach because he believes that his path way is the only winning way. Little adjustments, no flexibity in approach and by the end of the year teams have figured out what’s needed to beat UND. And it’s only lack of execution of his system that got his team losing.

School District 8 near Wlliston voted not to dissolve but build a new HS. Turns out the sand in McHenry County does not meet fracking requirements. But an area between Stanton and Hazen in Mercer County does. https://www.willistonherald.com/news/state/sand-deposit-could-be-game-changer-for-nd-oil/article_ca01778e-eea4-11e9-8adc-ab4af3b9362a.html The frac sand operations in Wisconsin are huge, but the transportation costs are high. Silica sand is also used in other industries. Texas now has its own sources for fracking.

It may be economical to refrac 10,000 wells in the Bakken as record breaking wells have resulted. Bakken oil could go up dramatically without the expense of drilling. https://www.willistonherald.com/news/oil_and_energy/refracturing-likely-to-be-next-big-trend-for-bakken/article_f2c69c1c-e9f9-11e9-bf6d-cf64da4fb92d.html The other big Bakken story is that frac sand from McHenry County may be used. Train cars of it are needed per well as most of it comes from Wisconsin and has very rigid specifications as the sand shouldn't compress much. Could be a new open pit mining industry in McHenry County, which used to have a large population for ND that's declined for 100 years. Ceramic sand was going to be made with a furnace near New Salem, but the oil industry went away from it. https://www.grandforksherald.com/business/energy-and-mining/4718410-Sand-deposit-could-be-game-changer-for-ND-oil-industry
