  1. Until Goose hits his head on the sunroof.
  2. https://www.grandforksherald.com/business/7110664-Altru-announces-expanded-hospital-plan-going-back-to-a-seven-floor-facility-construction-is-set-to-begin-in-fall That steel has been exposed a long time. Any engineers on here care to weigh in? Calculated risks are one thing, but given that the impetus for this construction was a near-catastrophic structural failure, one might wonder if it's worth the chance. The article in the Herald was awfully light on tech...surely they would have asked the tough question and/or sought comment from an independent expert. 'Cause journalism, right? I mean, I can't be the only one thinking about it.
  3. A good rule of thumb these days before you head out to eat is to have a Plan B and a Plan C. Lots of crazy hours and odd closings.
  4. I think people should be creative and have fun like this. Life is way too short to be serious all the time.
  5. Nice combo. I would have operated both, called it "Suds and Muds." Complete with hot capuccino foam baths, and spot-and-dairy-free creamer rinses. Not sure how popular the optional espresso undercarriage wash would have been, though.
  6. Couple of observations from The Match: 1. Aaron Rodgers can putt. 2. I would definitely play that course, but would bring 2 dozen balls AND spring for a cart. 3. Made-for-TV celebrity golf matches are a blast and should happen more often. 4. Aaron Rodgers can putt.
  7. https://www.grandforksherald.com/opinion/letters/7097399-Letter-Memorial-Union-on-Grand-Forks’-UND-campus-shouldn’t-include-Chick-fil-A Surprised it took this long. Induced enough eye roll to get up and over the Columbia overpass.
  8. <checks salary> Six months of lame duck status, plus the freedom of getting out on one's own terms (even if just technically), is hardly a bad deal.
  9. The comments to this Tweet are certainly interesting. Could the NCAA be any more tone deaf?
  10. Anyone know if the NCAA requires sunscreen? Or is student-athlete health strictly a cherry-picking exercise?
  11. At least NC State can take solace from the Jon Rahm debacle...Wolfpack guaranteed to take it all in '22. These are the facts that form the backdrop of today's decision: - teams have been competing for months, NCAA regionals/super-regionals for weeks, together in Omaha for > 1 week - fans in stands at full capacity without masks or vaccines - baseball is played outdoors, with players generally at great distance - players (adults, at that) have had ample access to vaccines for months Sports 2021 is shaping up to be not much better than "sports 2020". Still no proven correlation between a positive test and illness or contagiousness. Yet, here we are again.
  12. I would take issue with this statement. If anything, it is merely filling in (mostly residential, at that) where it had already grown. Virtually no commercial, retail, or dining, except for a couple of new banks along Columbia. And I don't know anyone that had been clamoring for two new banks. Hugo's has owned a large parcel at 47th & Washington forever, and chose to build downtown instead. The part of me that enjoys zooming up and down I-29 thinks that this is a thinly veiled attempt for the nanny state to justify lowering interstate speed limits permanently in town. Which would be unnecessary. EXHIBIT A: see Fargo, where 55 is a total joke. I think it would be better to develop the Merrifield interchange and dare the local economy to catch up. Because at present, the 32nd exit would be infinitely closer to most commercial destinations.
  13. Saw this in the news a while back. https://www.willistonherald.com/news/regional/north-dakota-universities-don-t-plan-on-requiring-covid-19-vaccine/article_ff4a2c6c-a116-11eb-863a-93dbd647d19b.html
  14. College sports and amateurism unlikely to survive in todays climate. These justices are distancing themselves from their predecessors, who recognized a need to exempt the NCAA. You can keep elevating the P5s and form smaller, tighter super leagues where athletes get some measure of their economic worth. But how does the whole house of cards not fall? Maybe the small handful of money making athletes at the small handful of money making schools will share with the rest to keep the rest of D1, all of D2/D3, and all of the non-revenue departments, teams, and schools afloat. You know, out of the goodness of their hearts.
  15. To honor its co-founders, Rect and Normous.
  16. And being coerced into taking a limited-authorization vaccine he wasn't personally prepared to take for the sole purpose of making other people feel better.
  17. No words to express how stupid it is to DQ Rahm for a "positive" COVID test at Muirfield. Dude has a 6-shot lead heading into Sunday. Is he even sick? Has anyone proven any correlation between a "positive" test and illness or contagiousness? Can he not play a solo round, or wear a mask? Golf is played OUTDOORS, FFS. A tainted tournament, and an asterisk due for the eventual runner-up. I mean, "winner." We're no closer to normal, sadly.
  18. Easily one of the best clutch players in recent memory. Seems like he's always on the ice - if not in the mix - for the game winners in OT.
  19. The Fargo CBS affiliate just pulled the plug on the PGA Championship with a hole to play in the third round. To show their pathetic newscast. Idiots.
  20. "The tree of libertydumpster fire must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrantsincendiary COVID posts in unrelated threads." - Thomas Jefferson
  21. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that any person who still cares enough to wear a mask voluntarily would choose not to work in a busy supermarket environment, handling items and currency that have been pawed and groped by rando members of the public standing inches away who now don't even need to wear masks. Who are we even pretending to protect from whom at this point?
  22. Getting paid not to work is indeed the smart move.
  23. Loyalty, nobility, and professionalism aside, not many of us would (or could) turn the blind eye to 2X+ salary and a spot in the bigs.
  24. Is it sacrilege to suggest that GF's survival of the flood was a Pyrrhic victory...that in celebrating the short-term recovery (itself a worthy achievement, and a tremendous source of civic and national pride), a mortal wound was ignored or overlooked?
