This makes no sense. We have, like 2-3 days of advance notice of blizzards, and they manage to close roads just fine. Miles and miles of them. Like from MB to SD. With concerts and events, you get, like 2-3 months of notice. And we're talking about a couple of lanes from 32nd to Demers. For a couple of hours.

Au contraire...the ND Highway Patrol has the broad power "to ensure safety by directing traffic as conditions may require notwithstanding the provisions of law." A few yards of concrete, a couple of swing gates, some cones and fixed and electronic signage (most of the latter of which are already on hand at DOT). Infinitely cheaper than a highway interchange. Couple of hours before or after the event, you wouldn't even know it was there. Max 5-10 minute detour through industrial park west of town for NB truck traffic. Some thru-travelers may even utilize the exit onto 32nd to stop for food/fuel, thus creating sales tax potential. I bet folks living in neighborhoods east/southeast of Valley Dairy would jump for joy. And the convenience for Fargoans...it's a slam dunk!

Where there's a will, there's a way. Some freeway-adjacent venues have limited use access (i.e., usually closed lanes/ramps) that can be engaged to route traffic in and out on a continual basis during peak utilization. A slight inconvenience to freeway thru traffic in one or both directions, but could be a solution. Especially since the crush of GFK-bound event traffic is one-way in and then one-way out. Pre-event traffic exits NB I-29 directly into Alerus parking lot. After the show, close both NB lanes of I-29 @ 32nd and reduce SB to the outer lane at Demers. Then have event traffic exit directly at Alerus across the NB lanes and paved median and into the inside SB lane and merge going south.

Interesting read on Rocco. https://www.yahoo.com/news/away-wife-nhl-rocco-grimaldi-155556214.html I have two questions...WTF is "Christian apologetics" and doesn't UND offer an online Master's in that?

Safe to say that a visitor clinching scenario is the only way the Penrose will ever shine under the lights at Baxter? Is Omaha doomed to be a perennial also-ran?

Strong statements coming from someone who posted them after 7:30 p.m. on the day in question. Hindsight much? There were at least two teams traveling in through weather (Blizzard warning was scheduled to end at 6:00), two local teams, plus on and off-ice officials, venue staff, and other logistics to put into place. Lots of moving pieces. The championship game added yet another layer. The event organizers (local AND state) are certainly not above criticism here (especially for travel contingencies that could have been planned in advance and cost avoidance measures bordering on the extreme/absurd), but playing Sunday night quarterback and micro-analyzing one single decision made earlier this morning is frankly unfair. EDIT: These pigs also wish to voice their support in favor of the postponement decision. https://www.grandforksherald.com/news/local/semi-trailer-hauling-pigs-overturns-south-of-thompson. BTW, this happened after 2:00, in "whiteout conditions." -

$imple explanation, right out of the AD manual. - Buses/fuel cheaper than hotels. - Taxpayers would throw a fit. - HS athletics budgets under fire. - "If you do it for boys hockey, you have to do the same for _____." -

Not sure what's worse...unabashedly celebrating what other people have done with their money, or complaining about what other people haven't. On the topic of fundraising, FFS, give whatever you can to whoever the hell you want, and shut the f*** up.

Just to keep the thought exercise going...what happens at 00:00 of first OT? Is it like the third Q, or the fourth? Do you roll over possession, line of scrimmage, etc.? Or start the second OT anew? And if you start anew, is it just another coin flip?
