It might please you to learn that the university gutted and completely renovated the old presidents house. 100% agree with your point about modern architecture. Not a fan the look of the new dorms (or memorial village) have. At all. Also, if they were planning to tear down Walsh and Squires, etc. I really wish they would have located the new dorms there instead of adding on to the Wilki complex. Locating students, especially freshman, as close as possible to central campus should be a no brainer. That extra walking distance makes a big difference when it's negative 20 windchill in the winter. Walks I took from Brannon took forever even on a good day. Whole I'm ranting, I've got to add that the med school location is questionable given that it could have built on University directly to the west of the new dorms. That said, I think overall th e school has done a great job and the former presidents did a great job in positioning the university for the future. I think they did a great job with the designs of the new business school and memorial union, as well.

I know it started prior to this, but I kinda feel like cutting FB was a major factor in SCSU's downfall. Not a good look to potential students who are choosing between SCSU, Mankato, Bemidji, Duluth, Winona, etc. Especially when SCSU and St. Cloud don't have very many redeaming qualities when comparing them to other public schools in MN. Football and sports aren't a reason that should be used to select a school, but it's certainly a valid reason to cross a school off the list if there are other alternatives that offer the same or better education. Off topic but it's a shame SCSU wasn't built a little further North, in the lakes area around Alexandria (who wouldnt want to go to college in a town that has a Zorbaz). Could have been an awesome college town and would have been the perfect location for a true "state" flagship university, had MN chosen to go that route, way back when.

I'm talking the shell of the arena only, not the pool area or any other attached space. I thought that was clear. There isn't much of anything in there...

I agree and think they should have kept the venue portion. How much would it cost in todays dollars to build the shell of that building and the cement seating? Had they decided to keep it, money that will soon need to be spent on building additional practice courts at the betty could have instead have been spent on a renovation (and an addition at the Betty wouldn't be needed. A smaller version of something like this would have been perfect, long term.

My god. One of the worst design decision I've ever seen (imo)... I used to study there because it had a bit of that classic old money university feel to it. Legitimately pisses me off that the design, furniture, and vibe are the same as the rest of the library (cheap/modern/basic). Harry Potter is a great example, as you mentioned.. A library like that is something that I would expect to see at any old big time school. Would have loved to see the glass replaced with open balconies as well.

Hopefully they improve their stream before next year. Thanks for link. Would love to see Arizona move up with the new barn they are building, the ASU rivalry, and the ability to play at at the Tucson Convention center for bigger games.

Hoops fan dislikes facts.

What I said was a fact, not a mindset.

But none are a sure thing. Look what happened to Nebraska after they fired Pelini. Pelini left the NU football program with a 67–27 record, winning at least 9 games in every season. Despite this record, and winning several bowl games, Nebraska never won a conference title under Pelini.[19] Eichorst stated at a press conference that Pelini hadn't won "the games that mattered the most" against top-tier opponents. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bo_Pelini

I recall the announcers in the SDSU game saying multiple times that none of the receivers were open. That can't still be a problem is it? He might not have the strongest arm ever, but it seems like it's good enough to attempt more than zero throws down field. Maybe it's something to do with his progression - is he just not looking at receivers with longer routes, either by choice or play calling? This is a 45 yard throw that he released fairly quickly.
-
Agreed. Seems UND does weird plays fairly frequently to mess up good drives. Other than plays based off the QB sneak, I'm not in favor of running any Q wildcat plays ever again. Success rate is bad, and he isn't a fast enough runner. Tommy needs to throw downfield more often - the quick screen game doesn't work against good teams when they are expecting that.

My apologies - I just searched and I think Midwestern Hawk made the posts about Petrino that I was thinking of.

He's the last guy I'd call a snake oil salesman... lol. I'd be ready to move on though, to answer your question.
-
He was also pumping Petrino and we all saw how that played out.
-
Your interpretation was that he was complaining?
-
Does that include high schools taking college courses?
-
I probably wouldn't even post to be honest. My buddies give me crap for "blogging" on here as it is, and in real life I'm kind of embarrassed to ever admit I do. It would be interesting to know who some of the people are behind the screen names... would probably be some interesting surprises. For example John Goodman (actor) posts on the Missouri State message boards I believe. I'd love to know the burner accounts for people in the athletic department.

I liked it better when we didn't need to rationalize a bad non-conference record.

-
Agree. Look at Tommy's stats every time we play NDSU for example. Too many screen passes against fast defenses.

Run the damn ball!

I'm a Schuster guy, but play a backup the rest of the game.

Boise State release their updated depth chart yet? Can't find traditional game notes.
