  1. Simon Fraser currently has, by my count, 7 D1 games scheduled so far this year. Michigan BU BC CC Robert Morris Lake Superior Long Island Does anyone have a link to the excel doc that someone put together with all of the D1 hockey schedules released so fat? Could have been from USCHO, but I can't find it, and I want to see if Simon Fraser has any other games scheduled that I missed.

    ASU to NCHC

Agreed. How many fans would stop driving to USD or SDSU and instead wait to attend games when Augi is the host? Would be kind of a revenue leach in a way.
  3. 100% agree. Flo Sports has the right to CCHA conference games, so it will be interesting to see if Midco ends up making a play for streaming rights there, whenever the current contract expires.

They added hockey because it was the only option they had. They didn't get a D1 invite when they were pushing for it. Augie having hockey won't help their prospects for a Summit offer at all.
  5. I think I rememberseeing an rfp for it a few months ago. So yes.
  6. Did they show what the locker room will look like?
  7. Such a joke that it takes so long. Really, kids should be able to get a determination from the ncaa before they even put their names in the portal.

Well, would they owe us the buyout? Either way, it's not embarrassing to lose a school to the big ten. It's not like we're the Pac 12.
  9. R1 possible? I know there are metrics other than total budget that are necessary but not sure what they are?
  10. Gotta start somewhere. They would be huge for recruiting in Canada as well. Once the moratorium on single sport conferences end, the independents will start a conference. LIU, Stonehill, and Lindenwood already travel to Alaska as it is. They will start a conference together for the auto bid.
  11. Simon Fraser to NCHC to help with recruiting and getting games on TSN? Either way, it seems like the wheels for D1 hockey are in motion...
  12. I don't think that's correct. There's a moratorium on new single sport conferences and its set to be revisited in January (it's been extended a bunch due to ongoing restructuring of the NCAA).
  13. Would go great with these pants:

  15. The deals themselves aren't the problem - the problem is having three primary sports all in separate leagues.
  16. Wonder who the CBSSN broadcasters will be? Will they be the same for all games, or different, depending on the venue? Would be nice for CBSSN if they could do a basketball and hockey game with Heinert on the same day id assume?
  17. Correct, but SLN is also Midco Sports Plus.

  19. Whenever the new overpass/ramps get built on 29, I think that will help to spur development. Bizarre how little access there is to/from I29 for Grand Forks. Are the Canadians finally coming back into town in large numbers? Perhaps that could do it.. I'm guessing covid and border issues put a huge damper on things. There any statistics on how much they contribute to the local economy, historically?
  20. Yeah I agree with you. I really think the best option would be to start a new FBS conference if that's what the schools in our area want. I don't think the NCAA would try to block it considering how geography is pretty much the only reason NDSU hasn't gotten an FBS invite yet. Current NCAA rules requiring a conf invite are, in practice, restricting competition based on geography, which is a antitrust violation. Just look at the profiles of the recent FCS move ups vs the Dakota's and Montana schools. An FBS conference with some version of current FCS schools like these would probably be the most sustainable as well, and the schools could also approach a TV deal with a more local, rather than national strategy, as this could help the schools to maximize tv revenue while mantaining weekend games. The Montana Schools would make deals with Scripps for example, NDSU could keep their deal with WDAY, and the Dakota schools could continue with Midco. Other schools could work with rsn's or local TV. League would combine rights for streaming and Nationally televised games only, similar to the NCHC. Do I think FBS is worth all that hassle? Not right now, especially now since the PAC imploding could change the current CFP plans (CFP could effectively become P4 only because all those schools care about is money). I think looking into something like this would be a better approach to FBS than some far flung conference. Goal should be a regional conference with MAC-like stability. I just don't get the appeal of FBS right now though... look at Boise as the perfect example.. had a good season and ended up playing in a half empty Frisco Bowl. Woopeeee. To be honest, I kinda think NDSU wants to sandbag it in FCS anyway. If they really wanted to move up, they would have tried to replicate the move Liberty made.
