That sounds a little extreme, but I do believe the tone at the top at ndsu is pretty bad and it does trickle down to the "student-athletes."

Agree with 06 that no comment is necessary for this from Bohl or anybody else at ndsu and the school is no longer responsible for babysitting these players. Does it still reflect poorly on ndsu and their football team? Yes, but that doesn't mean they need to respond to it. Is it newsworthy? Absolutely, otherwise nobody would be talking about it.

Then don't they have (1) Western Illinois, (2) IUPFW, (3) IUPUI, (4) Oral Bob, (5) Eastern Illinois, soon to be (6) UNO, and soon to be (7) Denver for Men's Soccer? Denver is joining just as Oakland leaves. Or does it have to be basketball and baseball? I'm not well-versed in this area.

UM-Duluth is part of the "better" university system in Minnesota, but the real University of Minnesota (Twin Cities) may not let them move up.

It's about the same distance from GF as MSP is, but there aren't nearly as many UND alumni in Sioux Falls. I'd think it's another option though if politics did get in between UND and the X.

Exactly, for all we know UND had a $700K surplus from 2011 that was available to be spent down in 2012. Also, new uniforms and logo-free equipment for all sports isn't exactly cheap.

I think they really need to have someone with ties to UND at the head of the Alumni Association. I think it looks better to potential donors when they're being courted by a fellow alum (or if the potential donor isn't an alum, at least they can see someone that UND produced). Personally, I'd prefer to have university presidents who have prior ties to the university as well, but I don't sit on the SBoHE.
