  1. UND not retiring the Sioux name in 2000 is considered doing some questionable things?? There was no NCAA policy at the time. The alumni (nearly all of them, not just Engelstad) never would've allowed it. Your attempting (poorly I might add) to compare keeping an historic sports nickname to keeping a bunch of criminals who attempted to defraud the state of North Dakota.
  2. That was mostly just me taking a dig at NDSU. If you come onto this board you should be prepared for it. If Bohl would've just suspended them for this weekend's (or last weekend's) game, this would not be getting nearly as much attention as it is.
  3. I think a 1-game suspension for first time offenders is adequate. Those with multiple issues (Ojuri) should be out for 2-3 games minimum IMO. Mussman just sat 2 players for skipping class.... apparently the cultures are different.
  4. Fraud isn't a crime at NDSU, it's something their top administrators take pride in. Wouldn't be surprised to see these 8 players invited over to Bresciani's mansion to discuss future strategy. But in all seriousness, it is concerning that NDSU administrators don't see fraud as a big deal.
  5. I'll be satisfied with +53% completion, 180+ yards, and no more than 1 INT. That, no big plays allowed on D, and run the ball like normal and I think we get the W.
  6. I just hope they don't have the terrible in-game videos of the players chanting to get the crowd fired up again like last year. The videos were embarrassing and usually the timing was poor.
  7. Hmm, that's a good point. Just out of curiosity, what BSC teams have grass fields? Also, anyone have an idea of the quality of turf that'll be in the IPF? Will it be remotely comparable to the new Alerus turf?
  8. Yes, the end plan is to have a second parking garage on the east side of columbia across from Memorial. However, based on how the first parking garage was received, I'd expect/hope for them to attempt to use donated funds for the next one rather than raise student parking fees 200% again. Also, there is a practice field/green space south of Memorial (between the stadium and the train tracks) that could be paved/used for additional event parking, or at least I'm not sure what else it'd be used for.
  9. Usually the away team seats are lower level on about the 30. Sorry, but I'm not sure if that's what you'd be getting or not. Perhaps they call it general admission for that section because it's first come first served??
  10. I believe the tailgating is free to get in, but parking is $5. So if you walk in or catch the UND bus it'll be free.
  11. Any recent pictures?? I hadn't heard about Altru logos....
  12. Watching the video he appears to be quite athletic and comfortable with the puck, but his shot is gonna need some work.
  13. The students (majority) care about hockey. Football, for most, is an afterthought. They aren't going to put forth the effort to search for schedules so it needs to be laid out in front of them. Fifty 10 cent flyers on the bulletin boards really isn't too much trouble and it would increase attendance from the non-diehard fan who just doesn't have anything better to do that day.
  14. As a former student, I believe much more on-campus advertising is necessary for football. My freshmen year I didn't even know about the games until the day of the game on most occassions. Simple flyers/posters in the dorms and Gamble Hall would reach a lot of people.
  15. You're going to come over here from Bisonville and attempt to lecture us on using facts in our comments??

    Enrollment

UND had to turn down students looking to stay in the dorms this year...... are they all online too??

    Enrollment

Better for the city, not as good for the university. Online students at UND still have to pay the student fees (other than the wellness center) even though they don't really benefit from the services provided.
  18. I'm not positive but I think it seats 12,238 but they'll sell up to 13,500 tickets (people can stand on the ends). I don't think the 12,238 number includes box seats either.
  19. It was a rhetorical question.....
  20. Good question, I'm guessing they would still be allowed to enroll but the remedial courses would be online or through IVN and taught by cheaper instructors who actually care about the remedial students.
  21. Well, IMO, somebody needs to get control of higher ed and the SBHE hasn't done it. This guy was appointed by the SBHE, so maybe this is them finally taking control rather than waiting for the legislature and a constitutional vote to do it. I guess I don't know all the behind the scenes stuff that has made you dislike the guy, but the proposals mentioned in the article appeared reasonable. Any specific ND instances you can mention? I take the California stuff with a large grain of salt because no faculty is going to be happy with upper admin when funding is cut.
  22. Looks like the changes would probably result in a reduction in enrollment, but hopefully an improvement in the overall academic level of the universities. Those remedial class numbers really stick out. I wonder if all the ND universities calculate those percentages the same way. If so,
  23. How long has NDSU been a 4-year University??? Also, NDSU is located on the border of a certain state which provides around half of its enrollment. Think Minnesotans want to go to school in Bismarck?? One drive to Bismarck would cure them of that.
  24. I agree, just didn't want to appear I was completely against all the smaller schools. FYI, WSC's current enrollment is around 300 --> not really necessary.
