I feel like this game, even more than all the others, will be decided by just a couple plays going our way.
-
Agreed. That nickname probably wouldn't be so bad if Hammer hadn't used it 14 times in the first 60 seconds.

Ugh, and if I hear "Highlight Hardin" one more time I'm going to punch something.....
-
I noticed there are some errors for the records and scores on the front page. Shows Sac St beat Montana St when Montana St actually won 20-17. Also shows Cal Poly's conference record at 5-2, but Poly's 2nd loss (to EWU) was a nonconference game so they're actually 5-1 in conference.

Every time Kober talks I'm not sure whether I want to laugh or cry..... Hammer's not bad though

The linemen are the biggest guys on the field because they're bigger than everybody else.....

This is a UND-SUU game thread. Move the attendance discussion to one of the many "how to fix student attendance" threads or to the thread created for UND-ndsu people to argue in.

North Dakota vs BU - Grand Forks welcomes the Terriers

That would blow..... -
I thought Hammer was much improved from the games earlier this season. It seems he's gotten the pronunciation of player names down now (man did he struggle with Senkbeil earlier) and it seems like he's getting a better feel for how to call a hockey game. May just take a little time before he reaches Sioux standards.

It definitely wasn't an every game occurence. One of the guys that did it was a fan of the goophers when he wasn't cheering for UND, maybe that'll help you remember if you ever talked with them.

The lists included such tidbits as the names of the players' family members, among other things...... I know most of that group has graduated, but I'm not sure whether they passed the torch or not. Maybe somebody else will pick it up....

In Mussman's 5 seasons the team as a whole has markedly regressed. Our receiving corps is good, but that's about the only area of promise for the future right now. The only way one could claim the team is improving is by saying we're much improved from 2009. Well if being better than a team that lost to (and was flat-out beaten by) the University of Sioux Falls is the mark of what we expect from UND football, then I guess UND will never have another good football team. Sioux Falls would probably put up 30+ points on our defense this year. Excellence must be demanded. Also, people have been calling for Muss to get fired for a long time. We allowed 55 points, I think the problems lie moreso on the other side of the ball. This sounds like a Mussman quote. I'd rather we start winning than turn into a competitive conference doormat like Northern Colorado. What has Mussman done to earn patience? Going "toe to toe" in losses to good teams at home while getting slaughtered on the road? The attitude displayed after the Montana win was somewhat embarrassing. Was it an exciting finish? Yeah. Was it a good conference win? Yeah. Was it the biggest win of the D1 era for UND? Against a team that is 2-4 in conference play..... I hope not.

Perhaps combine these 2. Use fireworks similar to those used at the end of hockey wins in REA. Set one off after each UND score or maybe save a little $$ and just do it after each touchdown.

HORRIBLE acoustics.

Does having a doctorate from UND make someone more of an expert on the athletics department than a person with a bachelor's degree? I know several doctors who I consider to be idiots.
-
This bothers me a lot too. It's rare/unheard of to see UND corners attempting to jam receivers at the line to disrupt timing.

I haven't watched any MSU games this season, but based on the final scores of many of their games it appears the cats tend to play to the level of their opponents (UNC game excluded). I predict this game will be close early in the 4th quarter. What happens from there depends on which UND team shows up on Saturday. Edit: Also, MSU gave up 41 points against a mediocre at best Cal Davis team. Unfortunately, UND will need to score at least 45 to win this one with how terrible our defense is.

Many of the hockey-only folks blame the move to D1 for the loss of the Fighting Sioux nickname. Similar to DaveK, they would tell you the move to D1 was dumb. I admit that 8 years ago I didn't think a move to D1 was necessary, but looking at who is D2 now (Minot, Mary, Bemidji, Crookston, Moorhead, etc.), we certainly don't belong in the same division as them.

Bet last week's profits

Hopefully that drops to 3 after saturday.

I'd include them as a homer pick, not sure that UND deserves it at that point though. Finish at 6-4 (D1) with Cal Poly and E Wash staying top 10 and NAU top 20 and I think UND may have a case to be ranked 21-25. Edit: But first things first, let's get a win this weekend!!

I'd guesstimate 2,000 students (in the student section) at hockey games. UND student headcount was over 15,000 this year, but that includes online students.
-
This is really surprising to me. It seems like most teams score an 80 yard touchdown on their first play against our defense each drive, which you'd think would result in fewer total plays in the game.
