Agree 100%. We need to focus on the long term big picture of what the program can be under Eric Schmidt. And I will never be confused with being a member of the ducky and bunny crowd here.

Agree 100% I don't care what Fruechte "saw on film that he thought might work", inside the 5, you run the damn ball! We were moving the ball on the ground, there was no reason to get away from the running game. Fruechte is too eager to be a mad scientist and experiment when the K.I.S.S. principle would save all of us a lot of grief.

25 years ago at the WCHA Final Five at Target Center, some guy told me he was a Sioux Hockey Fan, a Gopher Basketball Fan and a Bison Football Fan. That is the strangest combination of fan loyalty I have ever heard.

Good points. I think Fruechte needs to move on and I think Schmidt needs to tap into his list of contacts he has made during his coaching career to find somebody else to run the offense. Fruechte was a holdover from the previous staff and it may make sense to bring in one of Schmidt's guys who knows what he wants out of the offense.

I have said it before and I will say it again: I would rather walk barefoot on molten glass than cheer for NDSU in any sport. The only exception to one of our fans supporting FU is if one of their kids, grandkids, nieces or nephews are playing for one of their teams. Other than that, it is pure treason.

Fruechte needs to embrace the K.I.S.S. principle on offense. If the running game is working, stick with it. No trick plays when you don't need them. Don't put your QB in difficult situations where he has to do everything himself. We might have at least 2 more victories this season if Fruechte had taken that approach.

We had some close losses during that time as well. 1993 was our breakout year.

Do you think we hold NDSU to 15 points under last year's regime? We would have given up three to four TDs at minimum. It would have been pitch and catch down the middle of the field all game long, with a few long QB runs thrown in for good measure. This is NOT Bubba Ball. I do think Schmidt made a mistake retaining Fruechte and I think a change is needed there. But I still have faith in Schmidt and what he is trying to build here.
