  1. Too early to make predictions about next year. We still don't know what the final roster will look like. Just like with FB, it's too early to make judgments about 2025-26.
  2. You're right. I guess I am just anxious for Jax and his staff to reestablish us as a force in recruiting circles.
  3. Why don't we have a shot at them? When did we start lowering expectations in the area of recruiting? It's time we get our swagger back. Enough of the bull$h!t already.
  4. No, I don't. I like where we are. I'm just playing Devil's Advocate since a few people on here think it should be considered.
  5. I wonder how many people at Notre Dame even know they sponsor hockey? 😷 Seriously though, it has been well documented that Minnesota hockey fans are not happy North Dakota is in a different conference now. I imagine Wisconsin fans have similar feelings. Our program offers a large, passionate fan base that travels well and could help put butts in seats that would otherwise remain empty. Not to mention adding more eyeballs to television ratings. But I am more than happy with our program remaining in the National CHAMPIONSHIP Hockey Conference. 🙂
  6. You just said it's against B1G rules to share BTN money with non B1G members? And this isn't FB. Notre Dame is not a big time school in hockey or anything else besides FB. I'm not a big fan of leaving the NCHC anyway; I just wouldn't want to leave unless it made sense financially and otherwise.
  7. Notre Dame agreed to those terms?
  8. It's time we get our swagger back.
  9. Isn't there something contractually in place for that?
  10. Miami has been talking internally about moving to the CCHA. I think it will happen the next couple of years. Like I said, unless the B1G makes it worth our while financially, we can just stay put in the National CHAMPIONSHIP Hockey Conference!!!
  11. I agree with you on thinking outside the box. I do it and get ripped all the time for doing so. As for getting rid of small school programs in the NCHC, I think what you really want is to somehow get into the B1G hockey conference. The ONLY way I would support that is if the B1G makes it worth our while financially. If not, then we should stay put.
  12. Playing Devil's advocate here, the athletic department did make needed changes in the leadership of both FB and hockey. Without those changes, I don't know if I would accept the price increases.
  13. It's time for a change in NCHC television rights. CBSSN cares only about basketball. Let's stop wasting their time and sign a deal with ESPN. The national exposure is crucial to have for our conference.
  14. Evening games before hockey starts would be awesome.
  15. There are still too many unknown variables to predict how much success we'll have in 2025. I do like the aggressive attitude Schmidt has infused into the program.
  16. Didn't overrecruiting doom Eaves at Wisconsin?
  17. It could be someone nobody has mentioned yet.
  18. I imagine we just didn't have room.
  19. They waited until after the Frozen Four, so that points to Herter. But it could be someone else mentioned by others here
  20. I don't think going back to what we had before is realistic. Student-athletes should have more freedom than they used to, but the pendulum has swung too far. A balance must be found in the middle.
  21. Is there any credible intelligence suggesting that this might happen soon?
  22. Some basic limits need to be put in place. -Each athlete gets one (1) transfer without conditions. -A transfer will be allowed if the head coach of the program leaves. -A transfer will be allowed if the program is dissolved. -A transfer will be allowed if the program drops down to a lower division (D-1 to D-2). -Any special situations will be decided on a case-by-case basis. This would stop most of the "mercenary recruiting" that is taking place right now.
  23. I am watching the 1997 WCHA Final Five title game (Sioux vs. Gophers at the old St. Paul Civic Center) thanks to @Blackheart. With UND ahead 3-1 early in the second period, Adam Calder (RIP) had a breakaway and hit the post. That would have made it 4-1 and may have been the dagger. Instead, the Goofs rallied to tie it and the Sioux won it in OT on Peter Armbrust's goal. To this day, that third period and OT is nerve wracking to watch, even knowing the outcome.
  24. I wanted a full national search, but I am willing to give Jax a chance. Berry had the final word on everything as head coach. Now as the head coach, Jax can shape this program into what he wants. I am looking forward to seeing what he can do.
