Is there any credible intelligence suggesting that this might happen soon?

Some basic limits need to be put in place. -Each athlete gets one (1) transfer without conditions. -A transfer will be allowed if the head coach of the program leaves. -A transfer will be allowed if the program is dissolved. -A transfer will be allowed if the program drops down to a lower division (D-1 to D-2). -Any special situations will be decided on a case-by-case basis. This would stop most of the "mercenary recruiting" that is taking place right now.

I am watching the 1997 WCHA Final Five title game (Sioux vs. Gophers at the old St. Paul Civic Center) thanks to @Blackheart. With UND ahead 3-1 early in the second period, Adam Calder (RIP) had a breakaway and hit the post. That would have made it 4-1 and may have been the dagger. Instead, the Goofs rallied to tie it and the Sioux won it in OT on Peter Armbrust's goal. To this day, that third period and OT is nerve wracking to watch, even knowing the outcome.

I wanted a full national search, but I am willing to give Jax a chance. Berry had the final word on everything as head coach. Now as the head coach, Jax can shape this program into what he wants. I am looking forward to seeing what he can do.

What do you mean "Huh"? Haven't you been following the stories that have come out regarding Berry's lackadaisical approach to recruiting? I have seen several instances of players not being offered because "we are full". Meaning that keeping a home town boy (Montgomery) on the team was more important than making the team better. There is a reason Berry is no longer in charge of this program.

More of this "we don't have room for you" baloney! Cripes, I never thought Berry would let recruiting go down the toilet like this. Kudos to Chaves on making the tough, but necessary choice to let him go. Welcome to our program Anthony! We look forward to seeing you in action in October!

Depends on how much $$$$$ Carle is offered. You are much more likely to get fired in the NHL vs. NCAA, so the $$$$$ would have to be sufficient to balance out the risk.

I think we were lax on a lot of things, which explains why we are hiring a new coaching staff while Denver is playing in another Frozen Four. Jackson certainly has his work cut out for him.

That explains why both Berry and Goehring are gone.

Whomever lands him won't have him more than two years. Which is why Jackson's comment on having 3 to 4 year players is so important.

We had an intense guy coach WBB years ago and that worked out pretty well! 🙂 Good luck to Hutter and the players who stuck with UND.

Then why does he keep getting fired? Is it the players going behind his back to the GM and engineering a coup?

Someone please explain to me why this prick is considered a great coach? He's a short-tempered hothead who alienates everyone everywhere he goes.

I think the coaching change is what's holding us back with regards to the portal. Expect a lot of activity once the staff is in place.

I am watching the Oct 31-Nov 1, 1986 home series vs. Bucky thanks to the generosity of @Blackheart. I think I was at one of these games, if not both of them.

Let's just wait and see what happens. I'll definitely be watching the offseason carefully, that's for sure.

REMINDER: He wasn't the boss during those 9 years. He took direction from Berry. So we cannot automatically assume it will be business as usual going forward. I wasn't a fan of promoting within, but I am more than willing to give him the benefit of the doubt to start with.

I hope he doesn't have "a hell of a summer" at one of those prospect camps like WeatherBYE did a few years ago.

We need to use the portal this off-season to plug all the holes we have. But long-term, we need to recruit and develop our own players (especially in goal).

As long as those things actually happen, people will like them even more.

The more he speaks publicly at events like this, the better he'll get at it.
