Good point. I want to keep the Natty in the NCHC, but I would rather have either us or WMU win it. Duluth and Denver are little pests that need to be swatted.
-
Watch them hire someone as GM who is 100% committed to keeping the roster at least 95% Minnesotan.

I am so sick of Duluth and Denver. And hearing about Gavin Freaking McKenna. And about how Michigan is the greatest thing since sliced bread. If I am a little salty this week, it's because it's been so long since we've been a factor on the national stage I am having withdrawal symptoms. It's time to remind everyone who we are and why we still matter.

It wouldn't take much to do better than me. I am horrible when it comes to predictions.

Yeah, I'm with you on that. I am ALWAYS nervous before and during postseason games. -
Yes I have. But some people are talking like they are invincible and can't be beat. I think it was back in the mid 2000's Denver got beat by RIT in the first round. The Denver media said that "The stars were aligned" for that team to win it all. RIT knocked those stars out of alignment. As we all know, anybody can be beat in this tournament. Especially if it's Holy Cross vs. Minnesota!

Okay, let's stop interacting with the Bison trolls and get back to talking about 2026 Spring Football. The future looks bright and I am looking forward to the 2026 season.

How come? This is supposed to be the best time of the year for college sports. -
High school? What's next, YMCA?

She is so adorable! I love it when they cuddle like that! ❤️

I picked Western Michigan to repeat. I didn't want to jinx the boys. And the truth is, we are in THE toughest conference in the country. If it looks like we struggled more than we should, it's because even teams in the lower half of the NCHC aren't all that bad and they make you earn it. Which helps prepare you for March and April. And I don't think you win 27 games by being "meh". My biggest concerns are: 1) Have we flushed out the virus that has been plaguing the team? It was obvious in the NCHC semifinal that something was wrong with the team and I think it was whatever sickness they were fighting. We cannot have that happen again or our season will be over. 2) How will the freshmen handle playoff hockey? This is their first taste of playoff hockey, which is very different from a standard two game series during the regular season. How they handle the pressure, intensity and speed of playoff hockey will determine how far we can go, considering we lean on freshmen more than some other teams.

I'll take that as a compliment. I was talking about going with a friend of mine, but he's not feeling well. Also, I didn't want to take that much time off work; this day off in-between has made it harder to get the time off needed to go to these games.

We beat Wisconsin in the Kohl Center in 2008 in the regional final, so home ice doesn't guarantee anything.

Which makes me wonder: When are the Vikings going to fix this O-line of theirs? I am so tired of watching our QBs get the crap beat out of them.
-
Voodoo hoodoo. It didn't help them last year, did it? I think people are writing off Western Michigan way too easily. Even without Bump, they are still very good.

Thank you Mr. @jimdahl for all the work you put in to keep this site up and running.

Which makes me wonder this: Why are people talking about Denver like they are the Soviet Red Army team from the 1970s? Aside from the red uniforms, I don't think they are close to being that good. The single elimination format applies just as much to them as it does to us.
-
I don't care if they have Ken Dryden reincarnated in net, this is a game we should win. It is not wrong to have reasonable expectations. And I haven't seen anyone here thinking this game will be a "slam dunk". Maybe they are on that All Things Fighting Sioux Facebook page, but not on here. And in 2016, our first round opponent was Northeastern, who was on a long winning streak. And we all know how that season ended. As for people not picking Merrimack, I think those people are just assuming that the higher seed will win in the first round. Lazy picking, but a lot of people do that. I will not apologize for having expectations and for expressing optimism this time of year.

Why does everybody treat them like they are the Soviet Red Army team of the 1970s?
-
I have WMU repeating and keeping it in the NCHC!
-
I think he's talking out of his a$$.

Cripes, you make it sound like we are the underdogs! And I think playing loosey goosey will "cook" any team this time of year, including the two "invincible" teams this year: Denver and Michigan. We have to drop this whole "poor little old us" routine and get back the swagger we used to have. My only real concern is if the flu bug has run it's course through the team.

What makes them so bulletproof? So the single elimination nature of the tournament (which people absolutely obsess with on here, btw) doesn't apply to them? They are no more invincible than Michigan is. Everyone has to win four games to win a title. And none of them will be easy. That applies to everyone, not just UND.
