I imagine it will remain in place going forward. An average FBS player could project to being an above average player in FCS. So even if other FBS programs snatch up the best in the portal this spring, UND could noticeably improve itself by being aggressive in the spring portal period.
-
This spring will be a one-time harvest of FBS players because of the 105 player roster cap being put into place.
-
Schmidt isn't letting the grass grow under his feet. Keep it coming coach!
-
Any prospect that good won't be in college very long (1 to 2 years max).
-
This has more to do with television market size and travel costs. Two areas that are not in NDSU's favor. Same issue for the other 3 Dakota schools. Only way FBS happens is if the 4 Dakota schools and the 2 Montana schools team up.
-
Why did you post this if he isn't coming here?

Mussman was 100% pure incompetence personified. Bubba was not incompetent, he just couldn't get us to the next level as a program. Some of that wasn't his fault (the antiquated facilities for one), but overall he just didn't have what it takes to get us from average to great.
-
My point is, he isn't in charge of FB anymore. I really don't know what he is doing in his new, made-up retirement job. I do wish him well in whatever he does.
-
Now that the "My, Oh, My" show is back on in Imperial Cass County, it is even more important for Schmidt to turn it around as quickly as possible. He must hit the spring portal hard and take advantage of the one-time harvest of FBS players who will be cut because of the 105 player roster limit the NCAA has put in place. Winning right away would make it easier to recruit high school seniors into the program. With our shiny new facilities, Schmidt will have tools that Bubba didn't have for most of his tenure.
-
The photo of Bubba sleeping in a team meeting was the final straw. If not for that photo, Bubba might still be in charge of FB.

Eric Schmidt, a lonely fan base turns its eyes to you.

Especially since they have been living in Montana's shadow for so many years.

I'm still not tipping my cap to them, they don't deserve it. Last time we won a hockey national title, copies of the Grand Forks Herald in Imperial Cass County were turned facing backwards because the front page had the team photo with the trophy. So screw them. And all those UND alums that have jumped on the bandwagon to "be a part of it", enjoy yourselves. But please don't bother coming back to us. UND is almost completely irrelevant in the region now. Bad programs up and down the line. No buzz. No nothing. And too many people have become desensitized to it. If our hockey program misses the national tournament again, watch people on here respond with #butthepenrose. It's enough to make me sick.

So are we just wasting our time trying to compete?
-
Agreed.

For regular season games: Go to 4 x 4 for 10 minutes If the game is still tied, then it goes down as a tie. No more infernal shootouts; they should be banned from the game. And no, 4 x 4 is not the same as 3 x 3. It's not even close to the same thing. Too many gimmicks and too much overthinking in the game today.

Ohio State looks to be the best of the teams left.
-
I remember when we could expect victories more often than not. Who are we better than? Miami?
-
That won't help us that much.
-
Finland doing whatever they want, whenever they want. This game may be out of reach before the end of the second period.
-
If he gets as excited about great accomplishments by UND teams as he does NDSU teams, then he's being consistent and I won't have a problem with him.
-
Feeney will go to one of them. Romfo will sign with the other one.
-
My point stands. If Armstrong is at an NDSU basketball home game while we are playing for an FCS title, it will be clear which side of his bread has butter on it.
-
When (not if) UND makes it to Frisco, we'll see how enthusiastic Armstrong is about it.
