We contained Youngstown's QB, we'll do the same with this guy.

The Golden Gophers @ UND- 10/17 and 10/18

Minnesota talent is known to pretty much everyone now. Teams like Colorado College, St. Cloud and Blais at UND started poaching kids in the 1990's and it has only increased. -

I guess the people I am talking about are the casual Gopher fans who don't know anything about the sport of college hockey and think all that matters is the games they have with Wisconsin and Iowa. A lot of them used to pollute the old WCHA Final Five every March. I had to deal with more than one of them. I shouldn't care, but I do. I never hear Badger fans trash talking our program like that. It just makes me hate the Goofs even more. -

Nope. Not even close. The decades of enmity between UND and UMN is simply unmatched. At least Denver fans recognize our program's place as one of the blue bloods in this sport. There are Goofer fans that don't think we belong amongst the mighty Golden Gophers, which is part of what fuels the rivalry. -

A lot of those losses to Minnesota happened in the 1970's, which were not kind to UND. -
I think this is the root of a lot of the problems regarding game day experience.

Personally, I agree with your take on his posts. However........ Aren't you all about the student-athlete and making sure they have a great experience here? Penalizing them because of something Sather said on social media is throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

That is what usually happens between these teams. Not being in the same conference anymore does nothing to dimmish the importance of this rivalry for myself. They are the #1 enemy of this program (Denver is a distant second). Let's blow them out of the building this weekend! -
I think 2001 was the best year ever.

UND vs St Thomas (Fri/Sun -- Home and "Home")
fightingsioux4life replied to brianvf's topic in Men's Hockey
I guess I was referring to having more than half of the roster turned over from last season and all the young players still learning how to play at this level. But long term, I think this team has the potential to be very good. -

I predicted growing pains for this team early on. But I think we'll get better as the season goes on. -
The Alerus Center is one of the best home field advantages in FCS. I suppose you want to go back outside?

Another week. Another win. Another game thread full of comments that make it sound like we lost. I also don't understand the play calling in the third quarter. But that final scoring drive was mainly on the ground and it pretty much sealed the win. Anyone who thinks we are back to "Bubba Ball" is just plain wrong. Last year's team would have lost today's game by at least two touchdowns. The defense was truly that bad last year. There is room for improvement, obviously. But this year's product is many times more enjoyable to watch than the last 5 years of Bubba's tenure.

Youngstown probably made some adjustments at the half.

Isn't Croal the guy Berry didn't want to put in the lineup? -
It's time to start thinking big regarding FB at UND. That means raising expectations. I believe Schmidt has the same idea.

This "All Minnesota, All Hail To Thee, Pride on Ice" nonsense has been an albatross around their necks for years. Not that I mind the results!
-
The fact that Chaves hasn't extended him yet is a departure from his usual playbook of extending coaches before entering the last year of a contract. That makes me think Sather is coaching for his job this season.

If it doesn't have better leadership than the old PAC 12, it will end up in the same place. -
That contradicts what someone else said on here about MN not having NIL for football.
-
I honestly haven't looked for the hockey posters yet. I think I'll look for them this Friday night.
-
I imagine the hockey posters are the same.
-
I think so. I am absolutely shocked that Chaves hasn't given him a generous extension yet.

If the choice is that or being an independent, I think they would swallow it.
