2025-26 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

I am not knocking anyone we have landed so far. I just want us to get some impact players that can add some juice to an offense that was, to put it mildly, vanilla at best last season. I am very much looking forward to seeing Jackson's team in action. Same with FB and WBB. -

My point is, he's getting interest from top prospects despite no tradition of winning at the FCS level and a lot of mediocrity. Attitude and posture matter. If the coaching staff can't get excited about the program, you can't expect the kids to get excited either. And FWIW, Jackson hasn't coached a game as head coach yet either. But his recruiting prowess during the coaching transition will be crucial to having some success early on, which will largely determine how much success he has in the years to come. -

I think most of us understand it's a complicated process and what looks good to one recruit won't necessarily look good to another. I just want us to be aggressive and show some swagger in recruiting. Look at what Eric Schmidt is doing with FB. His aggressive, take no prisoners attitude toward recruiting is already starting to pay dividends and he hasn't even coached a game yet. -

I think NCAA hockey is more national than it used to be. But if Denver or St. Thomas starts landing kids east of Lake Michigan, then you'll have to revise your rule of thumb. -

So we don't try? Cripes, when did we get so skittish about which prospects we go after. You miss 100% of the shots you don't take. -

The coaching change and having one assistant position unfilled does add some uncertainty to the mix. Which may give some prospects pause to come here. -

Sounds like automatically assuming the B1G school will win the recruiting battles. Seeing way too much of that on this forum. Like I've said before, time to get our swagger back as a program. -
Is this good news for us?

How many of them care about hockey? It's always been a FB first school.
-
I think it will be the best class since we moved up to D-1.

As a huge Star Trek fan, I wholeheartedly support this post. 😄 -
What? That's impossible! No one would ever choose UND over NDSU!!!

It was the 2014 NFC title game played on January 18th, 2015. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_NFC_Championship_Game
-
Was that the onside kick fumble in the 2014 NFC Championship game vs. the Seahawks? That would shake anyone to the core.
-
What's so funny?
-
And yet Michigan didn't even make the 16 team field this year.
-
Having the coaching change and the resultant disruptions doesn't help either.
-
So will that result in older, more experienced players in NCAA hockey?
-
I've been hearing that warning for years. College hockey is still here and puts more players into the NHL than ever.
-
They don't own these kids. And if they start treating them like that, some of them won't go to the CHL at all.
-
So having CHL players eligible may not be as big a benefit as some of us hoped?
-
Some of these kids went the CHL route because they couldn't meet the academic requirements of NCAA hockey.
-
Like I have said before, I am eager to move on from the Berry regime and I am very excited for what this team will look like in 2025-26. All this other garbage is a needless distraction.

And he was at UND 2 years. Jost left after one. I think one more year could have made a difference for Jost.
