  1. Look, when we as a fan base had watched six consecutive national semifinal losses (2006, 2007, 2008, 2011, 2014, 2015) and then watched Denver score two goals to tie the game in the third period and were going on yet another PP (which was almost called a 5 minute major), you cannot seriously insinuate that people should not have been thinking "Here we go again". As Tom Miller said in the Heraldo on Friday, anyone who claims they weren't thinking that were not being honest. I do not blame any of our fans for feeling a bitter and negative sense of déjà vu as that third period got away from us. It's called being a passionate, die-hard fan of this team, program and institution. It's called posting emotional comments in the heat of the moment. But I suppose you are going to go ahead and try to tell me that you have never, ever done that during your time on this planet? Yep, that's what I thought. End Rant.
  2. Amen, could not agree more.
  3. I promised to change my avatar if we won #8 and I have delivered.....just like our hockey team did last night!!!
  4. This is precisely why awards like this are so overrated. They are subjective and based on market size and media coverage, or lack thereof. The title that really matters will be awarded tomorrow night.
  5. Hey, great minds think alike, right?
  6. It happened to Bill Buckner in 1986, so I wouldn't put it past anyone.
  7. You and about a half million other people.
  8. Yeah, I would like to retire this one.
  9. Maybe it's cheaper for them to watch it at a pub than buy game tickets. Or they want to drink alcohol while they watch, which they can't do inside of the arena because the "moral supremacists" at the NCAA won't allow it.
  10. Well, they haven't won a natty since 2012, so they should watch their mouths. I think the last time we played them in the Frozen Four was the debacle in Denver in 2008 (which is what gave birth to my avatar! ), so living in the past is a bit of a waste of time. Besides revenge, the other reason to want them is so we get the last line change for the title game.
  11. I'll be at Ground Round in Grand Forks watching both semifinal games.
  12. Thanks for the insight, it makes more sense now.
  13. Yeah, I remember that.
  14. There are a lot of people that would contest this point. I think the NCAA uses it's tax exempt status to run a for-profit business inside a tax shelter.
  15. In 1987, the Vikings backed into the playoffs on the final weekend and they went all the way to the NFC Championship game. So once you are in, anything can happen.
  16. Well, it's like the title of one of those old James Bond films, "The World Is Not Enough". When it comes to $$$$$, it is never enough.
  17. This just came over the wire: http://www.grandforksherald.com/news/region/4003350-reports-entire-russian-u18-squad-replaced-failed-drug-tests Wow, this takes some of the excitement out of the USA-Russia opening game next week!
  18. How in the HECK are they making money at these regionals?
  19. Everything matters right now. All the teams are good and have talent, otherwise they wouldn't be here. So everybody has to bring their A games (coaches, players, captains, alternates).
  20. Well, whomever wants to do it this way better not b!tch and moan about the lack of revenues and/or fans at these games. Because that isn't going to change anytime soon.
  21. This is the big elephant in the room. The NCAA is causing the problems with the regionals by having them in neutral sites where attendance is terrible. The model is not sustainable and it needs to change to something better for the fans and the bottom line.
  22. Okay, thanks for clearing that up.
  23. That rule applies if one of the teams is from the NCHC and the other team is from, let's say, Hockey East. But both UND and Denver are NCHC teams, so the threat of conference bias is not there.
