I agree. It has to happen from now on. The run game works better when you don't have 8 or 9 in the box every single down.

Well, we had that 50/50 split yesterday and it worked pretty well. And we will need it even more against better teams if we are going to repeat as Big Sky champions. If the run game isn't working in a particular game, you don't just stick with it for the sake of sticking with it. We have talent on that side of the ball now and we need to fully utilize it if we want to take that next step as a program. Championship-level programs generally have multifaceted offenses which cannot be stopped by putting 8 or 9 in the box the entire game and daring you to throw it on them. This team has had that problem ever since Bubba and company took over. This year, that is poised to change. I liked the game Rudolph called yesterday and we'll need that even more next week at USD.

He called some pass plays on first and second down; he didn't do that last year. He has some talent to work with now. When he first got here, there was nothing.

I thought he utilized it pretty well yesterday. The run-pass yardage was pretty balanced.

Next week will be an important measuring stick for this team. It will be on Midco Sports Network, so most of us will be able to watch it. If we can perform in that environment, we'll be the odds on favorite to win the Big Sky Conference again and probably get a top 8 seed in the FCS playoffs. A 2-1 non-conference record will put us in good position to get a playoff spot. A 1-2 record puts us behind the eight ball before the conference schedule even starts. A win next week is huge for our season. Early Prediction: UND 28 USD 21

A good walk-up crowd will snatch those up.

Now I can go back to using my old hotel for this tournament. -
Based on that prediction, you would think Utah was Alabama or LSU.

Yeah, they have been doing that since the Blais Dynasty. -

Yeah, there are a lot of factors involved. Also, would he want to leave Grand Forks and live in a much different place? I like the uncrowded nature of Grand Forks. -

I think he was talking about Schlossman. If the Strib was to offer him double what he makes for the Heraldo, I wouldn't blame him for taking it. -
What makes you think that?

Yeah, we are just falling apart at the seams up here. NCAA title in hockey in 2016, Big Sky FB champions in 2016, Big Sky MBB regular-season and playoff titles in 2017, Big Sky Volleyball regular-season and playoff titles in 2017, Big Sky WBB regular-season title in 2017. And VB is kicking butt already this year against big name schools. Yup, we have our work cut out for us to get out of this hole! Meanwhile, I am sure NDSU is secretly working on their application to join FBS and the Big 12 and will unveil it in the next couple of years. Btw, where are all those stupid "Bubba Gump" comments you guys were spewing on here a couple of years ago? I don't see them anymore. Gee, I wonder why that is? Quit trolling our board unless you have something useful to contribute. Go back to Bisonville, please.

There are certain athletes who are a perfect fit in Cal-Poly's system that wouldn't fit in with anyone else. You just need to know where to find them. If they could incorporate more of a passing attack to catch teams cheating to stop the run, they would be tough to stop.

You mean like this?
-
It was a young team that didn't know how to close out a big game. That experience will help them in the long run.

Cripes, this is no time for injuries.

I agree with you 1000%. Bubba has accomplished nothing short of a miracle already.
-
Not "has built"....."is building". The program hasn't accomplished all its goals yet.

Brad DeFauw, Peter Armbrust, Bryan Lundbohm and Zach Parise (who I believe committed in 2001) come to mind. The Gophers did not have a good record against us during that time period either. They took quite a few butt-kickings from us in that "rusting hulk" of an arena from 1996-2001.
-
We won 5 NCAA titles in that "rusting hulk", the last one in 2000. Heck, we won two in the "The Barn" (a WPA project from the 1930's). We have won exactly ONE in the new REA. I remember in the years before the new REA, Gopher fans yammering on and on about how great Mariucci Arena was and how it was better than a bunch of NHL arenas and what a dump we were playing in. Yet, we won most of the recruiting battles against them from 1996 to 2001. You make way too many assumptions, Mr. SiouxVolley.

That is good to hear. I hate to see people struggle with alcohol and/or drugs. Good luck Coach Hardee.

Neither have I.

What are the ratings for Midco non-live sporting event programming? Do any of their non-live programs get good ratings?
