Players may have felt like they had accomplished all they could at the collegiate level and figured it was time to move on. I don't think we'll have that many departures every single year.

I don't believe I said that. I was simply trying to inject some historical perspective into this. Losing games in Mariucci isn't exactly unprecedented.

I am thinking the negotiations involve both the Slummit and MVFC. Otherwise, it wouldn't make any sense.

In this series, the home team has usually had a distinct advantage. We have swept down there once since 1980 (2007). The Gophers meanwhile have trouble winning at REA (both the Old and New). We'll get them in our barn next season and we'll see who the "good hockey team" is then.

I think this team will figure it out by Christmas and be much, much better in the second half. And if it ends up being a rebuilding year, then so be it.

And what makes you think Kennedy didn't give Faison the job of negotiating the conference change? Kennedy probably figures Faison is better equipped to negotiate such a move because he has been around longer and knows most of the people involved. Good Presidents delegate tasks to people better equipped to tackle them.

Looking at their schedule, I think 11-5 is very attainable. But it won't get any better than that until they fix this truly "offensive" offense. The defense cannot do everything by themselves; all these three and outs are killing them.

In 2001-2005, the crowds we would get were passionate and made a lot of noise. We are still trying to get that back. You don't need a full house to make it loud in the Alerus Center, but you need fans that understand the impact noise has on the visiting team.

Well, you can thank Dale Lennon for the lack of night games. I know we had a lot of them in 2001 and attendance was really good, but Lennon didn't like night games, so I think that is why they stopped. They need to come back. Until October, there is no hockey. There is no reason not to have night games in September.

I disagree with that. In the 1990's, both UND and NDSU were conference title and playoff contenders and (weather permitting) we drew well. NDSU was indoors at the time and they drew well every game. If we are going to have to wait for NDSU to have a couple of down years to put more butts in the seats, then we might as well shut this thread down.
