  1. I agree 1000% with this. I will enjoy watching this team grow and develop as the season progresses.
  2. This fits into his narrative that the 2016 team was a "once in 30 years" occurrence. I do not think we will have to wait another 29 years for #9.
  3. Right now, this team just needs a win. Whether it is by 1 point or 100 points does not matter. The young guys being thrown into the fire need to gain some confidence in themselves and in the team as a whole. UND 28 UC Davis 10
  4. I do not think this team is like the teams that lost to Yale and UNH. I think you are looking at this team with the assumption that if we don't have a roster full of 1st round draft choices, then we aren't good enough to make a run at #9. The teams you are referencing did not have the kind of depth this team will have. They also lacked overall scoring punch, which this team should not lack. Of course, some of this is dependent on how quickly the freshmen adapt to the college game.
  5. This is the vision we need for UND as a whole. If hiring this firm helps us get there, then I am all for it.
  6. Kind of like we had back in the mid to late 1990's. I seem to recall us filling the trophy case during those years.
  7. Yes, Target Center staff were inept during their "management" of the Frozen Faceoff.
  8. Agree with all of this. I have never seen another team sustain this many injuries in such a short period of time. The idea that we are supposed to just keep winning despite all of this is pure wishful thinking. I don't think this will happen next season and I think this team rebounds big time once everyone comes back.
  9. No point in burning red shirts when it probably won't change the trajectory of the season.
  10. And I haven't seen such horrible contributions on this forum in years. Until you came around.......
  11. As for the Twins, I am pleasantly surprised at their success this season. The young players are starting to produce. Now we need to keep them and not let the Yankees or Red Sox poach them.
  12. Hey, that photo was just before the Islanders ran off 4 consecutive Stanley Cups (1980-83). My favorite era of hockey. I grew up watching the Islanders, Oilers and North Stars during that era.
  13. Cripes, when will this insanity stop? We'll be down to the scout team before long.
  14. I would replace Rudolph. It is clear that he has no imagination and is not willing to use the athletes he now has.
  15. When you start with next to nothing, then the answer to this question is no. It will take another 2 or 3 classes to really build the kind of depth within the program that you need to be good week in and week out. The injuries didn't bite as hard last year and that helped us win 9 games. This year, our luck has run out and we are playing guys that are clearly not ready because we don't have anyone else. I am still optimistic about the program as a whole.
  16. I can see both sides of this. On one hand, should we expect people to drive 3-4 hours to watch what we saw today? Probably not. On the other hand, if you live in Grand Forks (as I do), and you don't have any previous commitments, then real fans of the program should be there and support the team.
  17. I was in Brookings the day we beat SDSU and Klosterman got hurt diving into the end zone for the game-winning touchdown. Driving home in the autumn rain, I knew losing Klosterman was the final nail in the coffin for that season. Looks like that is the case again this year.
  18. I am looking forward to the day when we don't have to start true freshmen OR redshirt freshmen. The program isn't there yet. But I think it will be.
  19. Comment of the day! Thanks for making me laugh on a day like this!
  20. I thought the linebackers were the backbone of a 3-4 defense?
  21. So you think high school kids should be able to come on campus and immediately start performing at a high level? It doesn't work that way in any sport, especially FB. "Next man up" only works when you have built quality depth throughout the program and that doesn't happen overnight. Bubba and company are in this for the long haul and I believe our best days are ahead of us.
  22. Bubba and his staff have three full recruiting classes under their belts. When you consider they started out with next to nothing and there is always some attrition, that doesn't leave much room for error when it comes to injuries. This is the most banged-up this team has been since 2002...and before that, 1989. I am not calling for regime change....except for maybe Rudolph. We spent most of the first half running up the middle for no gain and then punting. That put the defense in an impossible position. Time for new leadership on offense. Otherwise, stay the course.
  23. This is what I am trying to do: Focus on the long-term and not the short-term. But it's hard to do when people were so excited about this team coming into this season.
