It is now called "Local WDAZ news broadcasts".

What "can of worms"? If a coach suddenly abandons a program, a program kids have committed to based in part on who the head coach is, why should the players be stuck with a situation they had ZERO responsibility in creating? Commitment should be a two-way street; otherwise, it is pure hypocrisy.
-
These players are not employees, as our "friends" at the NCAA are quick to point out. Their position on following due process was essentially correct; their response was too abrasive and thus was misconstrued by the media and others. And please don't broad-brush the millennial generation based on this ugly incident. This stuff has went on for years on countless campuses; the difference is today you have social media and cell phones with visual recording capability. The U of M will follow their internal processes and whatever will happen will happen.
-
But if a head coach wants to jump ship and go to another school, there are ZERO consequences for that person. Where is "the harsh reality of college athletics" for disloyal coaches? I think if a coach abandons a program, the players should have the opportunity to transfer to another school without penalty.

Taking personal cheap-shots at me won't help you win the argument.

You mean the guy that said losing to UND in FB meant "364 days of hell"? The entertainment value alone would be worth it!
-
Well, recruiting is also on the head coach and his staff, so......nice try.

World Junior Tourney - Toronto/Montreal

Wouldn't that be a rematch of the 2013 final? -

And Grand Forks is close to Winnipeg, which drove great attendance at the 2005 event. -
The warning signs with Muss were there long before the disasterous 2013 season that finally ended that regime. I will acknowledge I was slow getting onto the Fire Muss bandwagon; Darrell saw it coming way earlier than I did. Having different opinions and different perspectives is fine. But I have noticed that the "all positive, all the time" people are given more tolerance for their opinions, while those of us that think it is important to point out negative aspects of our programs are barely tolerated on this forum. That is what I meant by being "the bad guy". I don't make things personal on here and I don't tell people to shut up (except the FU and Goofer trolls), but I have been told (either explicitly or implicitly) to shut up on several occasions. So I guess that could be construed as "martyrdom", although I don't consider myself a martyr; these are 1st world problems after all.
-
Well, somebody has to be the bad guy and tell it like it is. I have been that guy before and I am glad Darrell is here so I don't always have to do it. Darrell was right about Muss and I suspect he is right about Jones too. But all he gets is flack from people for not being positive all the time. Well, I appreciate his truth-telling and it is unfortunate that others don't appreciate it more. And as for the "optics of buying out a coach's contract" in the current budget situation, that didn't seem to be a problem when it came time to buy out Muss. If it is important enough, we will find a way. If not, we will find an excuse. Finally, I don't care if MBB finishes in the top half of the Big Sky Conference. The benchmarks for this program must be higher than that or there is no point in having a Division I MBB team.

So all these years, they were able to make money with WDAZ covering Grand Forks and Devils Lake. And now, all of a sudden, they can't? You can buy that load of *bleep* if you want. Me and Fetch are not. And I still cannot figure out how KVLY and KXJB can be owned by the same people in the same market. Maybe it is time we start enforcing our anti-trust laws instead of rubber stamping every merger that gets proposed.
-
The goal isn't to be "respectable" in the Big Sky Conference. It is to win post-season tournaments and perhaps win a game or two in the NCAA tournament. Anything less than that is not good enough.

Nice personal attack. When you are all hat and no cattle, that is all that you are left with I guess.
-
I don't think Faison is thinking this. And if he is, that is the next job that needs to be looked at for an upgrade.
-
I hope it's nothing bad at all. But it looks like it's something more than a case of the flu.
-
If it's something like mono, then you can scratch her for the rest of the season.
-
Yeah, I know that. I was speculating that they would get rid of the Heraldo to save money and replace it with the Fargo Forum.
-
And it is also inevitable that I will not bother watching their newscast anymore. Fargo really thinks it is Minneapolis. What's next, the Grand Forks Heraldo gets shut down and we are force-fed the Fargo Forum?

Beating a MAC team once early in a season is fine. Beating MAC teams over the course of a typical 11 game season is quite different.

ND High School Hockey 16-17

No, it's a cold, hard fact. A lot of kids that used to live in the now-defunct Lincoln Park and Riverside Park neighborhoods went to GFC. But, like i said, Central is back to being good year in and year out. -

So if they were won before 1967, they don't count? Should we forfeit them? The Flood of 1997 really screwed up the population patterns in Grand Forks and that hurt Central's hockey program big-time. They are now starting to get back to being consistently good. -

That still doesn't answer the question of who has more titles. -
C'mon man, that was weak! You have to have something better than that in your arsenal!

Let's remember how many overall titles GFC has!* *Hint: It's more than that other high school on the south end of Grand Forks!
