  1. I would comment, but then someone would accuse me of spending "other people's money".
  2. UND loses at home to Montana 54-43. What was that about us losing Brewster to a bigger school offering more money?
  3. I agree with this. We will bounce back in 2018. If we don't, then I will be on the Regime Change bandwagon.
  4. Darrell was being facetious.
  5. I think he's covering the WJC in Buffalo right now.
  6. Unless South Dakota State has left the MVFC and I didn't hear about it, this didn't happen this season.
  7. We have a better chance of losing Pryor from VB.
  8. So nothing is on Jones now? He's been here longer than most every other coach on campus. Their performances so far this season are abysmal. Even if they do improve some, I don't think it will be enough to punch another ticket to March Madness. And I hope I am wrong about all that. I will gladly come on here and admit it if they have a successful season.
  9. So I have an obligation to sit down and shut up? Sorry, not happening. This is a fan forum. This is what we do on fan forums. Don't like it, don't read it. The fact is, almost everything is funded using "other people's money". Mussman's buyout. The IPF. The Alerus Center. REA. If you have a problem with that, then you have a problem with intercollegiate athletics in general. If you think everything is just fine and dandy the way it is, then just come out and say so. But don't expect me to rubber-stamp that viewpoint as my own. And if you have better ideas on how to improve our programs, please put them out there like I have. Or are you afraid of doing so?
  10. Are you asserting that FCS isn't watered-down right now?
  11. Then how did we find the cash to buy out Mussman? It sure didn't come out of state appropriated funds. Neither did that Indoor Practice Facility that is now in use. I was exaggerating with the term "flat broke" to make a point. Every time somebody points out a weakness in our athletic programs, they are told (rather patronizingly) that "we can't afford to do anything about it". In that case, we had better step up the private fundraising. But according to you and others, that's a "pipe dream". So what should we do instead?
  12. I don't like the Summit for a variety of reasons, but their MBB is much better than the Big Sky Conference.
  13. Make smart remarks all you want, but you are the one that scolds people for complaining on a message board and not proposing any potential solutions. Then I propose a solution and you respond with smart-mouthed comments like this one. Nodak651 has a point about bringing in more D1 teams for non-conference home games; that would help the program immensely. And I think his suggestion to wait until Jones has one year left on his contract is a good one. But since we are flat broke all the time, I guess that is a pipe dream too.
  14. I will gladly eat crow if I am wrong. I just don't think I am. The Summit is a much tougher MBB league. I don't see us having much success next year. Maybe the WBB team will, but not MBB.
  15. Saying JMU is the defending FCS champion and is on a 26 game winning streak is "emotional and not logical/factual"? Saying the Bison can't just show up and win is "emotional and not logical/factual"? I guess I get sick and tired of the whole "show up and win" mentality by fans of that FBS wanna-be program. And I really have no patience for people who say I am supposed to be nice to them because of their success. Like I said before, this is a rivalry and not a mutual admiration society. Having said all that, I want UND to keep building its program so it can contend for FCS titles. And beating NDSU on our way to an FCS title would be just as sweet as winning the title itself.
  16. Last year was a fluke. This year is bad. Next year in the Summit League will be even worse. We'll be lucky to draw more than 1,000 for any home game not against NDSU. Buckle up, it is going to be a rough ride.
  17. If we could find 10 people to donate $5,000 apiece, problem solved. Or 20 people at $2,500 apiece. There have to be MBB alums who are disgusted by what is happening with the program who are also successful in their professional lives who could be persuaded to chip in some money to get rid of Jones. The program is slowly sliding into irrelevancy and that is bad for the entire athletic department. I just hope the new AD doesn't give out contract extensions like candy on Halloween.
  18. If it's all about "financials", then lets just give Jones a long-term deal because he costs less than someone else. If we keep losing and losing big, interest in the program will continue to drop like a rock. What will that do for "financials"? And we bought out Mussman, so why is it impossible to buy out Jones? Nice try though.
  19. In that case.....let the mediocrity roll.
  20. I am talking about private fundraising, not gate receipts.
  21. You could find the money from private donors if you really wanted to do it. Not having a MBB team that regularly contends for March Madness is dragging down the entire athletic department.
  22. It is time for FBS P5 and G5 divisions, with a playoff bracket for each. The gap in resources and media exposure between those two groups is wide and getting wider.
  23. There is a process they have to follow. Until they narrow down the candidates, you won't hear much.
  24. And we need to care about what NDSU is doing because we are in the same region and in a couple of years will be in the same conference. What happens to them affects us, good or bad.
  25. If we were in NDSU's position, I would not be making overconfident comments about how all my team has to do is not turn it over and they'll come home "smiling". That completely ignores the fact that JMU is the defending FCS champion and is on a 26 game winning streak AND beat the mighty Bison last year in the Not-So Fabulous Fargodome. You don't take games like that lightly. And I wouldn't if UND was facing JMU for all the marbles. Overconfidence has brought down many a dynasty in sports. It is the primary reason why they eventually crumble. And we are under no obligation to kiss NDSU's collective backsides regarding their success. Just like they are under no obligation to slobber praise on our hockey team winning NCAA titles. It's a rivalry, not a mutual admiration society. That is how rivalries work. And this is Siouxsports.com, not Bisonville. We can and will take shots at NDSU. As long as their fans keep calling hockey a "fake sport", I will continue my smack talk.
