Here we go with the bashing of the Lamoureux Twins and telling them to "grow up". With all due respect sir, physician heal thyself. These two women have accomplished more in their short time on this planet than most of us ever will. And I don't think they need a lecture from you (or anyone else) about "the real world", because they have been excelling in it since before they were legal adults. Living in "the real world" doesn't mean putting up and shutting up about everything. Standing up for yourself and others is not the easy thing to do, but it is the right thing to do. I have no respect for cranky malcontents who scold and preach from high atop a self-professed moral high ground.

To be fair, most people on this forum didn't think women's hockey would even be considered for the chopping block.

University of North Dakota Hockey 2019-20 Season

You know, as much as I hate the Goofs, it is sad to see what has happened to them since realignment. It is more fun to hate on (and beat) a team that is good and contending for titles. -
What about 10-1 with the one loss at NDSU? Is that more realistic for you?
-
Very sad news. Hang in there, @Ice Arena Man.
-
But @MafiaMan, don't you understand? It's "all about the relationships" and "all about teaching life lessons". Winning doesn't matter. Because this is no different than high school. (sarcasm) Hopefully, the hiring of Paul Sather to run MBB is a sign that this mentality is changing under Chaves, but it is still too prevalent around here.

Some kids have their heart set on one particular school and aren't really worth recruiting. Better to direct resources to kids that haven't made up their minds.
-
It is obvious what they were waiting for.

People in Minneapolis-St. Paul would laugh until their sides hurt if they heard this. People in Chicago would laugh even harder.

Jackrabbit growth has problems of its own. I prefer slow, steady growth. Then city services can keep up.

Every summer, you see more apartment buildings being built in Grand Forks. If people are leaving in droves, who is living in these units? Ghosts? (sarcasm) I have said it before, Grand Forks has an inferiority complex and Fargo has a superiority complex. They think they are Minneapolis, but they aren't. And they should be thankful that they aren't like the Twin Cities; too many people, too much congestion and way too much stress.

You know, the two women in that picture look remarkably alike. So I don't see where this guy thinks there is much of a difference. #beatsme -
University of North Dakota Hockey 2019-20 Season
fightingsioux4life replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
My point is that hockey is a red-headed stepchild in the Little 7. It will ALWAYS be a third-rate sport at best (and sometimes not even that). The NCHC is a pure hockey conference with some of the country's best teams. It's an easy choice as far as I am concerned. -

This is why we should NEVER, EVER join the Little 7 Conference. I am surprised they haven't scheduled hockey games to start at 9am yet. -
I really liked this passage from Wayne Nelson's article today: https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/basketball/1357299-NELSON-New-UND-coach-charged-with-making-mens-basketball-a-big-deal-again This is an idea that Tom Buning never embraced. Sather wouldn't have gotten the time of day from Buning. Buning would probably have hired the equipment manager at Duke ("Well, he has lots of Division I experience."). Welcome and good luck to Sather!

Thank you Jim for this and everything else you do for us.

How much are you willing to bet that the Fargo Forum will keep being published come hell or high water? I'll bet good money on that. They are trying to get rid of all the other papers in North Dakota so they can become "The Newspaper of Record" for the entire state of North Dakota and adjacent portions of South Dakota and Minnesota. The Forum News Service was founded to help make this very thing happen. It is only a matter of time.

Not all lawsuits are "fake". I suppose you think people who die eating contaminated lettuce should be held responsible for it too?
-
Agreed. The idea that people are not responsible for what happens on their premises is dangerous for many, many reasons.
-
You just described the Kennedy Administration in one succinct sentence! Well done!

Major Junior hockey is a big scam. They use young hockey players to make lots of money and then discard them when they have outlived their usefulness. And you have the incidences of MJ teams screwing these kids out of the college education money they were promised. There probably are a lot of under-the-table payments that we never hear about. This is why College Hockey, Inc. was started, but they don't seem to do much beyond those commercials on NHL Network.

Right now, we are still using the old Division 2 funding model of Season Ticket sales, Champions Club memberships and 50/50 raffles. And that won't cut it in Division 1 athletics. We need to start thinking outside the box or we'll remain a bargain-basement/shoestring budget Division 1 school. In other words, a colder, more northern version of Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

I think you'd have to have about 10-15 new programs to make a dent in the talent pool, which is getting bigger and better all the time.

Apples and oranges, both in amounts of money and overall impact.

Don't get me wrong, I am not defending KEM. I don't like her and think she is a spoiled little rich girl who wants everyone to bow down to her. She is also not an honest broker. I just wish Kennedy had risen above her pettiness and at least tried to be tactful in dealing with what is a sensitive topic (distribution of REA revenues). I dislike both of them for different reasons.
