Not sure if its been said yet, but nothing says NCAA hockey tournament like Clay Matvick calling a game. He's had some great games throughout the years. Porters wrap around against the Gophers comes to the top of mind! And of course the Holy Cross game!!

2 wins against Michigan schools followed by 2 wins against Boston schools!! Sounds like a good plan to me!!

Unfortunately the only thing that will force Chaves to make a change is at least 2 seasons of missing the playoffs. Would likely have to be seasons with losing records and blowout loses. Tough spot for a fanbase looking for change. Seems like only hope is for this program to hit rock bottom before any significant change to happen.

Like I have said before, if this team fails to win a playoff game this year, Bubba needs to be fired. With a year left on his contract, nothing justifies extending him if they don't win at least one playoff game. We could all be surprised, but it's gonna be tough to win 7 games next year looking at the schedule given we will have a new QB and a new OC. Not meaning to dog on the current state of the program, but it is what it is. As the old saying goes, "You be positive, I'll be realistic"

Wat does Bubba need to do to get extended and keep is job? Where is the bar he must reach? - Beat the Jacks or Bison - Winning season - Make the playoffs - Win a playoff game - Reach the Quarterfinals - Reach the Semifinals - Make it to Frisco - Win a National Championship

For all the Fighting Hawks haters out there; A friendly reminder likely everyday this week if you look outside to what could have been.

This game is destined for a 5-4 win for Omaha on a goal given up by a bad turnover in Overtime.

6 wins are going to be hard to come by next year. 7 wins doesn't guarantee you a playoff spot next year in a 12 game season. If this team does not make the playoffs this year, I don't know how you can keep Bubba. As previously stated, they aren't going to have Bubba coach a lame duck season in 2025 without a new contract. So if this team doesn't win at least 8 games this year and at least make the playoffs, Bubba is gone.

Bubba is signed thru 2025. This is Bubba's make or break year. They are not going to have him coach the last year of his contract without a new deal in places. So baring a MVFC Championship or a deep playoff run, This is likely Bubba's final year. Was already going to be a rough season, but now throw in a new OC and a new QB, it gets even tougher. Why would an external candidate want to come into a situation like that where there is a good chance you could be let go after 1 year. I think this will be an internal hire. Unless someone outside just wants a shot at OC and wants to pad their resume.

And the other co OC is going to be the play caller!! He sees the writing on the wall. Bubba is extended thru 2025, but if they fail to win a playoff game, he’s getting canned. Maybe that’s a good thing. They will Fire Bubba and the entire staff, then Danny comes in and interviews as an outside candidate and gets the job!! Boom!
