Polacek seems like NDSU's "Bubba hire". Picked by the "Good ole' boys" at NDSU. Loves the program, will jump on a grenade for NDSU football. But....is he a good head coach? We shall see.
-
Don't forget USD. The top 3 seeds in the playoffs will all come to the Alerus. Better than playing them on the road I guess. Oh, and the other team in the semis (NDSU) we got on the road. Throw in an FBS game in there and you got a gautlet of a schedule. But that is the way it goes in the MVFC. That being said, The SDSU team that comes to the Alerus next year will be a drastically different team than the one playing next month in Frisco. They have 18 6th year starters that are all graduating. Plus, Granowski may see all the starters leaving and I think may look at hitting the transfer portal. But still will be a tough schedule.

News like this makes me think Polacek is either brining in his own OC or calling the plays himself, and that Roehl is gone. Either Woods was told this or he saw the writing on the wall. Forn stability purposes, it would be smart for Polacek to keep many of the coaches, especially Roehl since it sounds like most of the players were pushing for him to be the next HC. But who knows. Polocek may want to run his own offense and have him or his own guy make then play calls. May find out some of those answers at his introductory press conference.

I get trying to be creative and throw something at their defense they haven’t seen before…..but WTF!! Biggest play of the game and season and you have 2 competent quarterbacks, and you take the ball out of both their hands and have a WR throw the ball?!! Just an all time horrible call. They will be talking about that play in the west lot for years!!
-
Chaves better extend Bubba ASAP before NDSU snatched him up!!
-
NDSU will have 4 coaches in 10 years!! I mean, what’s going on down in Fargo? Clearly coaches don’t want to be there.
-
Well…the LB coach at Minnesota makes 850K a year. Entz makes like 350K.

I think there is already a thread started on this topic,

NCAA proposing new college athletics subdivision rooted in direct athlete compensation https://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa-proposing-new-college-athletics-subdivision-rooted-in-direct-athlete-compensation-145051537.html “Entry into the subdivision requires a school to invest, at minimum, $30,000 per year per athlete into what is termed an “enhanced educational trust fund” for at least half of a school’s countable athletes. Schools would determine when athletes receive the amount, which, for four-year athletes, will total at least $120,000. Schools must continue to abide by the framework of Title IX, assuring that 50 percent of the investment be directed toward women athletes.”

Remember when NIL was pitched as a way for NCAA athletes to get compensated because the school was making money off their name, image, or likeness? 0NOw it has turned into a recruiting tool to buy players as free agents and the highest bidder wins. Completely out of hand. NCAA failed to regulate it. They need to reign it in before it really gets out of hand. Por sports have salary caps. There needs to be an NIL cap. Obviously, schools with FBS in P5 conferences would have a different cap amount than say NSIC schools. Either way, there needs to be a solution to the NIL craziness before it gets really out of hand.... which we are tattering on right now.

Feeney starts 2024 and 2025, Jerry starts 2026 and 2027. Pretty simple!

Has there been any info about this "Banner Raising" ceremony for Phil Jackson and Bill Fitch? Bill passed away last year, but is Phil gonna be there?
-
Not sure if someone mentioned his name before, but what about Todd Hoffner from Mankato? 13 seasons coached for the Mavericks and they are 122-30 with 7 Conference titles, 9 playoff appearances, and a National Championship in 2019. Also, He was born and raised in Esmond, ND!!

Hard to believe only 2 seasons ago this program only had 6 wins. Now we have 6 wins before December!! Credit recruiting, portal, coaching, whatever. All played a factor in turning this program around from that abysmal season.

I may have spoken prematurely. It could be a good battle for QB1. Always good to have backup (whoever that will be) that is just as capable as the starter without any dropoff in talent. I give Trey a slight edge only because he has been here longer and has had more work with the current players and the coaches. But it will be a fun battle!!
-
Someday we will all see how good Elijah Klein is. Hoping he doesn't transfer out. Hoping our next QB, whoever that may be, will find a way to get him the ball. And hoping Danny will actually use him!!
-
Let the Trey Feeney era begin!! Looking forward to what he can bring. He definitely has a better deep ball. As accurate on the short stuff as Tommy? We shall see. Doesn't take much to be a better runner than Tommy. Feel like Tommy ran under desperation. I think there will be more designed runs for Trey. This offense is going to look a little different next year, for the better I think.
-
Well....I guess that answers my question!!!

There is a good chance a UND QB enters the portal. Who that will be, we shall see. Will be very telling of where this coaching staff is leaning towards who decides to make that decision.
-
Easton Kilty for UND hit the early transfer portal. Has been offered by Texas Tech Auburn Oklahoma St Boston College Mississippi St NC St and that is in the first day. He was honorable mention on the All MVFC team. Pretty BS

The offense isn't the problem. This team averaged 31.4 PPG. No questions it's the defense. They gave up an average of 26.2 PPG. Which included 33 and 31 to bottom feeders Indiana St and Murray St respectively and 42 at home to a 4th place Big Sky team. So as much as people want to complain about quarterback play, that's not the problem. Sure, Trey has a bigger arm and might be more mobile, but 31.4 PPG is still pretty damn good. Defensive personal needs to change, but most importantly, our scheme needs to change. It's time to retire the 3-4 defense. We have got to be one of the last schools in the country to still running it. They implemented it in the late 80's/early 90's for one reason. The to stop NDSU's option. No one does the option anymore. This would be a huge change that I think would prove to be very successful. It's time.

When was the last time a Romfo touched the ball? What happened to Redd? Why doesn’t Klein ever get targets? Questions i have been wondering the last 3-4 games.

Or do you bring Tommy back and say it’s an open QB competition for QB1. Make Tommy earn it. Or Trey earns it and we have a new QB. Either way, beat QB will be the starter.
