  1. Three realistic expectations for the UND student section: 1. Show up to the games (going great so far...keep it up!) 2. Be engaged in the game (don't just stand there....be LOUD) 3. Stay till the end of the game (3 hours is all the team asks of you to watch them 6 times a year. Not to much to ask)
  2. It just bugs me the lack of enthusiasm that students show at football games. Getting students to fill up the student section is great, but just standing there with your arms crossed the whole game is pretty pathetic. Also leaving at halftime or the 3rd quarter when the game is still in doubt is pathetic as well. It wasn't until Hendrickson ran for that first down with a minute and change left that the game was basically decided. And before that play I look to the student section and its maybe 10% full. Students, you still have plenty o time to head to the bars at 9:30 or get to a house party, or what ever you decided to leave early for. I know that there have been big steps in the positive direction getting students to the game. That's great. But its time these students start being passionate about their fellow classmates competing on the field as much as they do for the hockey team! This team is one of the most entertaining and talented teams that I have seen on the field for UND in years. It's not like they are putting a crappy product on the field. These guys are good!! When the students show more enthusiasm during the games, other fans will as well. Take ownership of being the biggest fans in the building and the met vocal. The rest of us will appreciate it and be there with you yelling and cheering the team on.
  3. Good to see someone in leadership that is willing to suspend people for their actions around here!!
  4. Fist let me start off by saying that the student attendance for the first 2 games this year has been great!! I remember even last year where there would be at the most 200 students at kickoff. UND has done a great job of promoting UND football to students by making tickets available and by having an upgraded student tailgate area. So I am very glad that students have shown a greater interest in games this year. Now, a little constructive criticism. Students, you are at the game, and you are filling the seats, and standing up. Now do something!!! Its great that you are there, but you can't just stand there and just watch the game. You have to get loud. And not just on third down. You are right behind the visitor bench. You got to get on these guys! You got to be loud as soon at the other teams offense get on the field!! Get LOUD!!! You are the heart and should of the fans at the Alerus. The crowd feeds off of the students. If you are loud on first down, second down, and third down, the rest of the Alerus crowd will start to join you!! When we score a touchdown, there is no reason that you should be sitting down before we even kick the ball off! You should be on your feet cheering and getting the crowd going! Now I do realize that it is not solely the students responsibility for the atmosphere at the Alerus at football games. But like I said before, the crown feeds off of you. The players feed off the crowd. Trust me. in 2001-2005 when this team was in its D2 heyday, the Alerus was rocking!! Deafening at many times. The Students were jumping up and down the whole game! The rest of the crowd was as well. We have come a long way since the last couple years. Now its time to step it up and get this place rocking!! We are all fans. We will be cheering there right with you. But you guys goth be the heart and should of this fan base and start getting LOUD!!!
  5. I really hope we can get Minnesota or Wisconsin on future schedules for the football team. I have always wanted to see a game at Camp Randall. Would love it to be against UND!!
  6. If they do get suspended it will not be for the Colorado state game. It will conveniently be delayed till next week to make a decision and they will miss the Prairie View game (a home game where they are probably 4 TD favorites).
  7. So Coach Bohl thinks missing class is much more serious offence than a Class A Misdemeanor? His actions in both situations prove this. Wow!! GAURANTEE if this happened a UND, these players would not be playing this Saturday. Only reason why these guys are not suspended is they are playing a tough opponent and these guys are starters. If they were 3rd string guys, they would be sitting out. That is what the difference between the two programs are. Integrity v. win at all costs.
  8. I second that. Great job students!! Its been a lack luster showing the past few years, but last night you totally redeemed yourself. Keep it going!!
  9. As much as we all hate to give any credit to the school down the road, but their intro videos for games for the last few years have been great. Whoever is in charge of the in game production of games should look at what they do at NDSU. They do it right. Music selection, timing, camera shots of players coming out on the field, all that. I think the Alerus is on the right track. Like said before by someone else on here, some minor tweaks and it will be great.
  10. Hopefully Hendrickson can step it up and get us a win next week. I think if we can get a win next week, that would be huge. With the way our defense played and how good our running game was, we should have a great chance to win. The San Diego State game was going to tough to get a win even with Hanson. The next week after SDSU is Sac State on the road. It would be nice to get Hanson back for that game, but Sac St. is picked to finish in the bottom half of the Big Sky, so we may have enough talent to get a win there with Hendrickson and just pounding the ground game on them. If we had Hanson back for the Cal Poly game, that would be ideal. a whole month off that leg might be enought to heal up so he is ready to go for the rest of the year.
  11. The Alerus and UND has always said they get a lot of game day sales for football. Hopefully that is true today. New "Tailgate Village", new turf, new jerseys, new QB and a lot of good players, potential to put up a lot of points, and that it is supposed to be 84 degrees when tailgate opens; Hopefully one or any of those factors will get those fans on the fence about coming to come out to the Alerus for the game.
  12. Looking at the new photos of the IPF, I think that there would still be room, if they decided to, to build a new stadium down the road at the Memorial Stadium site. The west side of the IPF where the offices, meeting rooms, etc are could be part of the new stadium. If you picture where the stands would be on the east side of the field, they could just be built on top of the west side of the IPF offices. So I think there is still room there. OBVIOUSLY we have to worry about filling the stadium now before we start thinking about a new stadium...but looking to the future is never a bad thing.
  13. UND Football is back...........IN BLACK!!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1M6kdQtm4wE
  14. How are you supposed to get down south with no money??! I guess hitchhiking is free!
  15. What color pants will they wear? I know we are having the "blackout" game against Montana where we will wear the black pants. Curious to see what they wear tommorrow.
  16. Hmmm...I think I will guess the black jerseys!!! Well, then it would not surprise me if the intro was "Back in Black"!! I wonder if they were going to save them but the players pushed for it to wear them tomorrow!!
  17. So what is everybody's guess for the jerseys the team will be wearing? Will they bring out the black for opening night? Or will they save them for the Montana "blackout" game?
  18. Notice the date on the picture....8/30/2012. My guess is the announcement is today, and they will have the pictures at the Alerus for fan viewing tomorrow night!! Oh man....just got goosebumps!! This is deffinitely a "game changer" as Jason said!! Huge!!!!
  19. People need to realize that tailgating is free!! You don't need to buy a spot, bring your grill and go through all that work to tailgate. You can show up and just walk around and there are always sponsers for the game that are giving away free food. If you walk around enough, there are other tailgaters that are handing you food as you pass by. Plenty of free stuff to go around. If you want to go the the Tailgate village to get some Dickie's or Deeks, head over there. Pretty sure it will be reasonably priced. Basically, my point is...get out to the tailgate lot and have a great time!!!

  21. Anyone here what band will be playing at the new "Tailgate Village" on Thursday? Just curious.
  22. It is going to very strange going to games at the Ralph this year. When you walk in the door, everything will be the same. Sioux logos on the floor, on pictures of former players, on the banners. Everyone is going to be wearing Sioux jersey. Then the team will skate out in warmups with "North Dakota" jerseys on skating on the ice without the sioux logo on it. They will seem very out of place. Oh well, Time to move on I guess. Probably going to be the hard to do at hockey games the most!
  23. Cratter, you are definitely the most irrational optimist on here....and I think its awesome!!! Keep it up!!!!
  24. You know it!!! What time is the lot open for tailgating? I have heard conflicting times. Is it 1pm or 2pm??
