When a new name and logo are selected I think you will be surprised by the amount of people that will embrace it and support it by purchasing new apparel. Specifically to hockey jerseys, if they do a good job with not only a name and logo, but the design of the jerseys, people will buy them.

What's the difference from what they do now? Teams don't know where they are playing till selection Sunday now. The 3 game series is a nice idea, but it messes things up for the next weekend.

Here is what I would like to see: Keep the format like it is with single elimination games in 4 regional sites. What I would change is instead of determining regional sites 2 years in advance, award the regional sites to the top 4 seeds in the country. So every team that is the #1 seed in their region would be the host. This is good for 3 reasons. First, it rewards teams that have played an entire season and achieved a good record and a #1 seed the best chance to advance to the Frozen 4. Second, the NCAA will make tons of money off of it. With the #1 seed playing at home, there is a better chance that they will win their first game and almost guarantee 2 sellouts in these arenas as opposed to half filled arena's like we have seen in the past. And third, it will create a far better atmosphere for the biggest games of the year as apposed to quiet arenas in front of a couple thousand fans with schools playing 800 miles from their campus.

In the world of Mid Major basketball, there are primarily 3 goals taht teams can set their sites for. 1) making the conference tournament 2) winning the regular season championship (and in the case of the Big Sky this allows you to host the conference tournament) and 3) winning the conference tournament for an autobid into the Big Dance. Yes, the non conference games at the beginning of the season are important because it gauges how the rest of the season will go. but in the grand scheme of things especially relating to those 3 goals I listed, they don't mean too much. I think a reasonable goal for this team is to make the Big Sky tournament at the end of the year. Definitely attainable. One you are there, then make some noise, pull off a few upsets, and then who knows!! Look at the last 2 years in the Great West. Sure it was an easier conference, but we were by no means the favorite to win the conference tourney either of those years, but we got hot and won it. Same thing can happen this year. So basically what I am saying is OOC games at the beginning of the season for a mid major team don't really mean a whole lot when you really look at what you want to accomplish this year.

Still early in the season to see how good (or bad) this team is going to be. Our non conference schedule is tougher than our conference schedule. Pluss we should be healthy after the new year. Before everyone jumps off the bandwagon, just have some patience...or at least a little bit. Let's get all our guys healthy out there and lets see what they can do. Everyone needs to calm down.

What does UND have to do with what they can name their restaurant? It's on UND property, ok. But they will sell alcohol on at the restaurant!! So they can't have "Alehouse" as part of the name, but they can have a large Bud Light sign in the window!! Wow..completely moronic thing to do!!

Some guy handed me a postcard with info on how to buy this print when I was in Duluth for the games last year. I like the print, but I have one problem with it which will probably prevent others from not buying it as well. It has old jerseys on there, but it does not have the black hawk logo or the geometric logo jerseys. We won 5 of our 7 Titles with those two jerseys, yet no reference of that on this print. Would have been nice to see them on there. Then I would think about putting up the cash for these prints. Just sayin.

So you are speculating a future NCHC with Denver, CC, Omaha, UND, St. Cloud, Duluth, W. Michigan, Miami OH, Notre Dame, and BU??? Wow!! Now that is a true "Super Conference" That would be sweet!!

Myths.....I believe in at least 4 of those??!!!!

I always wondered why the Siouxshop didn't sell throwback Sioux jerseys from the "black hawk logo" era. I think they would probably sell as many of those as the new ones!! Unless the Blackhawks have exclusive rights to that logo...but we used it before, I wonder how that works. Wish we could have worn some throwback black hawk style sweaters last year to commemorate the '87 Championship team (One of the greatest college hockey teams of all time).

The first game broke the attendance record. This game will probably break that record!! I heard that it is also the 100th meeting between the 2 schools!! Should be a good game. Jacks played them tough in the first meeting. Probably the toughest game the Bison played all year!!

South Dakota State football team has won a playoff game more recently than NDSU!! That is a factual statement and probably won't be said again....ever!!!! (Or will it?!! )

Our athletic budget has to be one of the highest in the Big Sky. Not sure we can't spend some money and get some good coaches in here. Muss just signed a multi year deal, so he isn't gonna go anywhere. But as far as the rest of the coaches...esides the WR coach and maybe the special teams coach....the rest need to go. Mannasau should turn in his resignation to save the embarrassment!!!

That place looks pretty sweet!! Plenty of golfers in GF looking for a place to swing the sticks in the winter. Hope the place is a success. Keep us posted to when it is opening.

I am SO looking forward to Bohl leaving and the Bison football team slipping back to mediocrity, like they were in the late 90's - early 2000's!!

Winter Classic was cancelled a few weeks ago...so I assume games in January are being cancelled now as well. However...if they get a deal by mid December, I would hope they would be able to get the season going as soon as possible. I guess the biggest issue with this idea is what day is the cutoff day for the NHL to have a season...and is that day too close to January 19th to be able to switch venues.

With the NHL lockout nowhere near to being resolved, the potential for the NHL season to be cancelled is pretty good. SO what does this have to do with UND hockey you ask?? Currently, UND and Minnesota are scheduled to play January 19th as part of the "Hockey Day Minnesota." They were going to play this game Saturday afternoon, probably around 3 or 3:30, followed by the Wild v. the Penguins after that. I am wondering if the NHL season is cancelled and the Wild won't be playing that day, what the chances are of getting the UND/MN game moved to the Xcel that night. Being that it will be the last WCHA conference game between the two teams, I think that justifies making it a big deal and moving it to a bigger venue. Plus there would be many more fans able to attend this historic last conference meeting. Would be a good idea IMO.
