  1. Rob Port :The Truth Is Not Very Many People Like Women’s Hockey http://www.sayanythingblog.com/entry/truth-not-many-people-like-womens-hockey/
  2. I don't know ho USA hockey is going to do this. Potentially you could have a team with both NHL guys that have been in the league for years playing with 19-20 year old kids who are jsut a couple years removed from high school or juniors!! Will definitely be an interesting dynamic!
  3. http://www.grandforksherald.com/news/4245071-womens-hockey-cut-mishandled-students-say Anthony Rice, a UND freshman, said he understood the university’s budgets were tight, but thought the loss of the team had happened too abruptly. “They didn’t expect to see it coming and there was no forewarning,” Talk of sports being cut has been going on for almost a year. Even when initial cuts were done last summer, I think everyone knew there would be more. One thing that really bugs me about the womens hockey team especially being cut is how completely oblivious they were to the potential of their program being cut. At very least in January when Kennedy announced that more sports were to be cut in March, Idalski needed to bring this to his players and tell them that losing womens hockey at UND was a possibility. They narrowly survived the initial cuts last summer, and were top of the list for these cuts. Judging by the shock from the players, he obviously didn't share that info with the players. Idalski knew that there was a good chance womens hockey would be cut. Not preparing his players for that scenario is is fault.
  4. Hashtags, "protests", social media outrage.....all those things don't pay the bills.
  5. Be sure to watch "One Shining Moment" after the Championship game tonight. They always show at least one clip from every team that makes the tournament. So UND will be represented, at least for a couple seconds more!!
  6. Pay for each member of our team to get $70,000 a year to play in one tournament a year, buy our clothing line so our family can get a free trip to the Olympics, fund our alma mater hockey team that costs 2 million dollars a year......It's getting old.
  7. Kennedy should just respond that if the womens hockey team wants to still be around, they are going to have to be privately funded like the golf team is doing. Give them the dollar value that they will need to come up with, and see what they can do. Of course, you can't expect to fund a program on a year to year basis, so they will need to develop a long term endowment plan so it can be sustained long term. Just like what was proposed to the golf team. If they can raise the millions of dollars needed to afford the program next year and for years in the future, then more power to them. The program is saved! Reality will set in when they see the actual hard numbers. This is a great way for Kennedy and Faison to respond and give the actual dollar amounts needed. I would be willing to bet 75% of the people taking to social media don't know the amount of money that is required to sustain the program.
  8. Having the Bison games at the Ralph starting in 2018-2019 would be a great start. sure the previous games at the Ralph were big games, but conference games that actually mean something are going to add even more hype to the game. I say start out with the Bison games and then go from there. Maybe the USD and SDSU games will eventually be played there as well. Heck, If we have continued success and increased crowds, who's to say we can't have all games in the Ralph and have 7000+ at every game!! No one ever thought that there would be 11,000+ for hockey games and look what happened there?!! A couple more conference Championships and trips to the Big Dance, and basketball may be the hot ticket in town!! Why not?!!
  9. Not sure if the dust has officially settled yet from last Wednesdays announcement, but it is probably time to get Jones signed for an extension. The cut mre than they had to to reinvest in other programs. Men's basketball being one of them. I would think Jones is set to get a pretty good pay bump. $150,000 base with pay increases every year (similar to what Bubba got) as well as increases for his assistants is not out of the question. I would think we would see something this week, but who knows. they may wait till the dust has settled even more. Still needs to get done sooner or later.
  10. Breaking News: The Av's suck. They need all the help they can get. Jost will be playing in Colorado all next year.
  11. While you are at it, retire the UND/BU one as well!!
  12. Summit works the same as the Big Sky. Whoever the men's team is playing at home, the women's team is playing on the road, and vice versa.
  13. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Dakota_Fighting_Hawks_women's_ice_hockey Once.
  14. It's just really hard for me to believe that Idalski was completely caught off guard by the news. A year ago when they cut sports, Womens hockey was being talked about, but it was not cut. In January when it was announced a decision would be made to cut more programs, how does Idalski think that womens hockey being cut was not a possibility?!! You would have thought that he would maybe had discussed this with the players, or that the players would at least be talking about the possibility. I guess judging by the "complete shock" reactions from players, they were completely oblivious to what was happening in the athletic department regarding budget cuts and cutting programs. And that's on them. And maybe even Idalski for not letting these girls know what is going on.

  16. Outrageous!! Better get some signs and hang them from the parking ramp!! CUT MEMBERSHIP FEES NOT SPORTS
  17. NO one wants him fired. Its his lack of reporting both sides of the issue. He retweets people calling Kennedy a moron but doesn't go into the actual reasons why the program had to be cut. He has the right to his opinion and to be mad about the decision. But he also has a duty as a journalist that covers the program to present the facts. He isn't doing that, and that is why people are disappointed with him.
  18. Need to run more fake blast with a backside George reverse!
  19. Schlossman on Barrero was embarrassing. He asked them about why the cuts had to me made and his answer was "I think" then followed by "oil revenue not as much as they thought". Didn't give any numbers like 1.3 Million needed to be cut or that the hockey team was in the red by 2 M. But he did talk about, of course, all the Olympians!! Sad part of. Rafa journalism career right now.
  20. There you go again with your facts and numbers to support them. You really do ruin a good argument!
  21. So cut 1 sport that affects 25 aesthetes, or cut 8 sports that affects far more and virtually makes us ineligible to join any conference because we don't sponsor enough sports. Math is hard for some people, but this is a pretty easy one!!
  22. This ^^^^^^^^ With the cust, UND will be down to 17 sports. If you would have kept womens hockey, you would have had to cut 3-4 sports to make up the amount of money to satisfy the budget cuts which would put you below 16 to remain NCAA compliant. Faison literally had no other option.
