  1. Ok, so when did we all become buddy-buddy with each other on this site? What happend to the good ol' days of "yo mamma" and things like that? Actually, I am quite impressed with how much we can respect (and yet still loathe) each other for our respective teams' sakes.
  2. I am not about to jump off anything just yet. This team has talent, it just doesn't always seem to click together. It hurts a lot when our hardest working guys get penalized, or in some cases, take stupid penalties. (ie. Porter). We have been complaining about goaltending ever since Karl graduated, and Kollar had his meltdown season. Even Jordan Parise, a lot of people on this board claimed the only reason he got to UND was because of his brother. It's funny how now, that he's gone, we all miss him. He'd let in some strange ones, but somehow, he and the team found ways to WIN, and that was all that mattered. Enough of the negative talk, though. I have as much bad to say as anyone else, and I am sure at times I will let some of it out. We all will, but I know we will keep supporting our favorite team! And as far as the Goofers go, why not let them hang a banner now? That way, when they choke, it will make it all the more sweet!
  3. Shepard needs to be canned. Plain and Simple. He is always in the middle of controversy, and of course, there is NEVER anything done about it.
  4. The next time I hear one of the players or Hak say "I thought we played well enough to win..." I am GONNA SCREAM!!! Either the boys are just having one of the UNLUCKIEST streaks in recent memory, or they just aren't that good. I don't believe the second choice, honestly, but I think that "lucky" teams make their own luck. I thought with Oshie finally getting a goal (2 according to Tim H.), that this one was in the bag. Guess I was wrong.
  5. I want to see the Sioux sweep this weekend at home, and end the year in the Ralph on a good note. They are by no means a terrible team, and I still believe they can pull through this and make a run for a top 5 spot in the league. If they make the Final 5 in St. Paul, anything can happen after that point. It would be nice to wrap up an at-large bid, though, and not have to go thru that Juggernaut of a team in the Cities just to get into the field of 16! That's a ways down the road, so hopefully the guys all just concentrate on Tech, and send them back to Houghton with 2 losses.
  6. I think we are all being a little harsh, but our frustrations are warranted. Lammy is not a BAD goalie, he's just not playing like a very GOOD one right now. Maybe he never will, but I would like to hope that things will change for him. Finley is a BIG boy, he just needs to start using that size to knock some opponents on their behinds. I have given up hope of this team winning the McNaughton, but they could still end up with home ice in the first round, if they can get it together.
  7. 1) This is not a political forum, so take that stuff somewhere else. 2) Quit blasting my commander-in-chief, I'd take him over Clinton in that position any day. 3) Sorry for throwing in #2, I just got done saying this wasn't a political forum... 4) I don't know what the answer is for this team, but they are going to need to catch on fire here and start winning unless they want to go on the road to Anchorage for the 1st round of the playoffs. It's just too damn early in the morning to be discussing this.
  8. I don't want him fired, but I would like to see him light a fire under his own and the teams' ARSES!
  9. Time for my 2 cents worth. Brian Lee. Talented kid, no doubt about it. We all knew when he came to UND that he was an OFFENSIVE defenseman, so why people are complaining about how the kids plays D, I am not sure. I think that if you had somebody solid and big that you could pair him with, he'd start putting up Travis Roche type #s on offense. Joe Finley. Don't really know what to say about him. I don't expect him to be involved offensively much, but I would sure like to see him start laying out other teams' forwards. Maybe he just needs to have some of our recent alumni come back for a day or two and work with him in practice. I think 2 hours with Commodore, Schneider, and Jones would do wonders for this guy. They'd beat on him and it might actually cause him to learn how to do the same to others! Our goalie situation. We have been having this conversation ever since BC snuck one by Karl in 01, and ended his collegiate career. Since that day, we as Sioux fans have waited for the second coming, and it hasn't happened yet. Are we asking too much? Possibly. I do feel that a goalie's #1 job is to stop the first shot, and after that, you better have some help for the guy. There are times where we give NO help to whomever is between the pipes, and there are times where he doesn't even feel one puck whiz by him. I am not an expert by any means, I can't even ice skate, so I won't call out anyone by saying they are terrible, I sure couldn't do any better. I just want to see someone who CAN do better get in there and steal some wins for this team. And to whomever said that coak Hak needs to start showing some emotion, right on!!! I agree that the scene from Miracle should get played out in the Sioux locker-room!
  10. True, it would have been MUCH more sweet if it would have been Adam Hauser, and not Briggs that gave up the goal to Holy Cross.
  11. Dear Ms. Harper, We, the fans, alumni, students, and players of the University of North Dakota FIGHTING SIOUX Hockey Team, would like to apologize for the whupping that was put on the other teams in your hockey tournament... You think it's too early to start a letter that contains this?
  12. And not only was it down 2 goals, it was with ~6 minutes left, and already on a powerplay, so it 6on4 for the first one, then 6on5 for the last one. One heck of a comeback, but still didn't end the right way in OT. I do agree with AZSIOUX, though. He'd have pulled him earlier if he was hearing Deano.
  13. I think he was just trying to keep it away from the guy that was right behind him, and as soon as he passed it, he was trying to WILL it back onto his stick, unfortunately, his momentum was going the other direction, and I don't think he was even involved in the scramble in front of the net. Oh well, it's just 1 mistake, and hopefully he won't make it again. Although I am annoyed with the split, considering recent history in Wisco, a split is better than getting swept.
  14. You know, I said before the weekend that a split was likely, and I thought I would be happy with the split. So why am I so bummed out about the split?
  15. I'll agree, a split seems likely, and just because I said Wisco was lucky not playing UND after the Final 5 last year doesn't mean that UND would have won it all had they gotten to play Wisconsin again. JPar did choke it away last year, but for some reason, that's just how it was meant to be. Last year is done with, and this year is going to be fun to watch. Here's hoping for 2 great games this weekend, with no serious injuries to either team.
  16. That's a good one Arch. I still am going to stick with the D.O.T. ted line as my choice. But that's just because I am stubborn and stuck on myself.
  17. Everyone talks about Elliot and how Wisconsin won 9 ouf their last 10 games last year, and they haven't lost yet this year... blah blah. I know all the Sioux fans remember who the last team Elliot lost to was, and this weekend, he'll lose again. It was Wisco's luck that they didn't play UND again after the Final 5 last year.
  18. Speaking of music, and intros and such. I haven't made it to any of the games yet, but would like to know now the intro is before they announce the Sioux starters this year. Let me know what you all think of it. Hopefully, next year's intro shows somebody holding up the trophy from title #8.
  19. Last night on the 10 pm news, can't remember which channel, they had a picture of Lammy where you could see the black eye someone gave him. Thought he looked pretty tough. Just a casual observation, now let's see him get some Ws and lead the team back to the show. GO SIOUX!
  20. Karl wasn't wearing the "C", though. He was wearing an "A", and he took the letter off his jersey sometime in January (I think), because he "didn't want the added pressure". When he took that off though, he got hot and started the run that went all the way to the rematch with BC.
  21. Wow, I saw this one pinned at the top of the page, and I thought "this looks interesting." I never thought I'd see a post, let alone a first post, from a player that was written so well. Everything has pretty much been said that could be said about you Mike, and I'll agree with it all. I'll never forget watching you work Peluso over like a 2-bit hooker, and when you drank from Maninno's water bottle, I stood up and cheered. The sad part of that was, it was about 4 am in Iraq, and I was watching the game by myself! You gave everything you had when you took to the ice, and thank you for everything you brought to UND hockey. Good luck in the future, and I hope to see you in the "Show" some day! Here's to the newest legend of Fighting Sioux Hockey.... MR. PRPICH!
  22. Ok, so I have been reading speculation about Parise leaving UND for over a week now? Could somebody explain it to me?!? Where in the heck is he gonna go? The AHL? I love the fact that all the guy does is win and setting records for UND, but does anybody really see him going pro? With 2 FF visits, no title, and as much gratitude as he has towards UND for giving him a shot? I really don't see the guy walking, not that he can't make it as a pro, but BECAUSE HE DOESN"T STRIKE ME AS SOMEONE WHO LIKES TO GO OUT WITH A LOSS!
  23. Even people I know who are Gopher fans admit that Kessel doesn't pass. The reason he has 33 assists is because he would shoot it, the goalie would cough up the rebound, and Potulney or Irmen would slam home the rebound.
  24. Ok, since this is the first year I am going with my brother-in-law and his buddies, I was nervous when the Sioux dropped game 1 to Mankato. BUT, they pulled through, and Denver and CC both going down, UND should definately make the field of 16, no matter what happens in St. Paul! I personally, will be drunk most of my time there, so if you see a bleached-blonde in a black Sioux Jersey, laying on the floor, pick me up, ok?
  25. Ok, I will admit it When the Gophs won that first title in 2002, I prayed that "if they are going to win, let the ND kid get the winning goal." Too bad I didn't realize how much of a thorn in the Sioux's side he was going to become. Dean Blais was quoted as saying once upon a time that "It was our fault we didn't get Grant. It's Ryan's fault that he didn't come here." I can believe the explanation someone had on here about Irmen not being recruited by UND, because I was actually told that story by someone who knows the kid. Even though I would have rather seen them in green and white, I have to admire the fact that Dany and Ryan stuck together.
