  1. Well, first and foremost, I would like to express my appreciation for those who actually care about the outcome of sioux hockey games. I was witness to a complete disgrace to the Grand Forks community this evening. I was located in the student section, located 1 row in front of the suites. My friend and I decided to stand up for the final 14.5 seconds of the overtime period to support our team. What did I hear? "Hey sit down!!!! Hey your blocking my view!!!! Hey sit down!!!!" I looked back, and an overweight local resident was barking at us. I'm sorry, but as far as I am concerned I have every right to stand up and support my team, especially when we are in the closing seconds of a highly contested game. This is just typical behavior of the Grand Forks local community. They should look at what the university offers to them, and, act accordingly. Furthermore, said "overweight" gentleman went beyond any rational discretion and warned us that he, and I quote, "had all of us on video tape, and that we would never sit in our seats again". It is very dissapointing to me to think that it must be a student versus the world situation, especially because our time standing up was the one and only time in the overtime which we were afoot in the arena. I find it hard to believe that rather than support our home team, this individual would choose to yell at myself and colleagues, thus ruining our night and our experience at the REA, in such a negative manner. To conclude, shame on those who cannot support our team in times such as those are necessary in a 2-2 contest in overtime. At no such point did we make ourselves to be obnoxious, loud, drunk individuals that do not deserve to be part of the overall REA experience. Either pay more money to disallow us from entering the arena, or, for lack of better words, f$%k YOURSELF!!! TWICE!!!
  2. When I started this thread, it was after the Saturday night Wisconsin series where Finley was the clear reason the Badgers were able to break the tie. This thread focuses on what impact, if any (IMO none) has on our team. People argue that oh, Joe had a couple nice breakout passes hit a few people, that's a typical game for any defenseman. Joe is a 1st round draft pick, a couple nice breakout passes and a few hits here and there are not acceptable for a 1st round draft pick who plays every night. Finley needs to be a force. I was at UND when Smaby was a freshman, it is like night and day. I agree, Smaby was not the brightest spot early in his career, but you know what, there was steady improvement. Finley today looks like the Finley from the beginning of the season last year, and it's terrible!!!
  3. The entire team needs to come ready to play, not just a few. People need to be disciplined!
  4. Did anyone else see the game winning goal given up by Finley??? 15 feet off your man that ends up scoring the game winner top shelf is not going to cut it. Finley needs to start playing like Bina, who happens to bring the most physical game and is one of the smallest frames on the ice. Pretty sure some butts need to be sat in order to get this D situation straightened out. Just because your an NHL draft pick does not mean you get playing time night in and night out regardless of performance. This is a disgrace to our team, history, and tradition.
  5. I think 14 is one of the keys to the Sioux going deep into the playoffs. By far and away the Sioux's most improved player this year. His confidence has grown and it shows on the ice. Although I think Miller should be with some more skilled players, possibly on the top 2 lines.
  6. Personally, I don't know how anyone can judge Miller. How can you even fathom the outlook for someone who has played 4 shifts his entire Sioux career. I think it is rediculous to jump to conclusions. At least give him a chance to show what he can do. He does not belong on the grind line either, possibly third line, because he was brought here to score not check.
  7. Well when I saw "Miller Time" on the ice it was amazing, his puck pursuit and skills were pretty impressive!!!! The team is not going to advance with him in the middle of the bench!!! He needs to get out there!!!!
  8. Just FYI, there is another very talented kid form Alpharetta, that is attending Shattuck, his name is Joe Brock, played on the U16 team, led the team in scoring with 160 points.
  9. I'm not comparing Shattuck to Georgia, I wanted him to recognize that hockey in Ga. isn't garbage, it is good hockey. Nothing can compare with Shattuck, so it is kind of a dumb statement.
  10. Yea, we played a AAA/AA schedule, all major tourney's were AAA, we played tourneys in buffalo, maryland, montreal, pittsburgh, and Mass. We went and won districts and went to nationals, had a fair showing.
  11. Thanks for the backup, I just hate it when people start talking abuot something they have no clue about. It shouldn't make any difference where the person came from, obviously if they are being recognized they have skill.
  12. Too bad your wrong buddy, many of us have gone on to play in junior leagues, just because we're from georgia doesn't mean we don't know how to play hockey, i'm not even from georgia, that is where i lived, so that is where i played, i was drafted to the Springfield Junior Blues, in the NAHL. So hockey isn't as bad as you would think. Yes there were other players around him, he went off to SSM, and the rest of us didn't.
  13. Sure is, I have been friends with Brad for a long time. About 4 years now. We played together back in Ga. before he went to Shattuck. Great kid, he has really improved over the past few seasons. Although he was born in Canada, grew up in Alpharetta, Ga, a suburb of Atlanta.
