  1. What game were you watching? Because if you were implying that it was a pretty game then you are mistaken. The stretch in second half for Montana was good ball and then by us in the end and ot. But overall it was an ugly game regardless of the outcome. I believe each team had turnovers in the 20s and there were a lot of fouls slowing things down. My ugly game comment was to the action on the floor and not the scoreboard. Now just because a game is ugly doesn't mean it can't have excitement as this game proved. But in reality I felt that the Sioux should have been able to win by around 20. I think we were and are that much better than Montana. What's wrong with having higher expectations after what we've seen these guys can do? Edit: and it was a big win!
  2. I thought Montana's big strength was supposed to be on the inside and they were so much bigger than us? I didn't see it. They worked us early in the paint, but then we got better and better defensively and offensively in the paint. They slowly went to more guards and zone D which did change things. And how nice is it that we have such a big bench? We were rotating 4 posts and 6 guards I believe.
  3. I went to the game for the first time in quite a while. Ugly game. No flow in the first half. So many fouls and dribbling turnovers both ways. Sioux were getting worked inside early. Once our guards starting playing some help D we did better. I'd be surprised if Montana shot from outside more than 5 times in first half. Second half was frustrating to watch but at least wasn't so much down time. Montana was hitting 3's lights out. I think 5 in a row at one point. And our guards did not attack the zone defense unless they dribbled right into someone. Too many turnovers. Too many missed threes. And free throws!!!! Ok, so I sound like a debbie downer, but we should've throttled them. Some good things. Brekke's first step is so quick and he tipped so many shots. And I love his roll off a screen. Most of our big guys are open on the roll, but the guards don't get them the ball. Mitchel can score anywhere in the paint. I thought the guards did a very good job driving to the hoop early. Webb and his floater in the lane. We have some quickness and definitely can jump. Lots of blocked and redirected shots. Imagine making some extra free throws and having half the turnovers. Then its more like a 20 point win. Though our D did good job grabbing turnovers as well especially in ot.
  4. Attendance was 1271. Not bad for Fighting Sioux club members having to pay. Students got in for free. years past this championship only drew a couple hundred, but that was in Chicago and Houston I believe and no local team in championship.
  5. According to a SFI blog post it's looking like Central Arkansas is trying to buy out the return game at the Alerus next year.
  6. What are the injury situations for each team? Ivery (sp?) didn't look good after taking hit to the head in the endzone. USD's qb was out at end against Poly. Did he play this past weekend?

Had a good time at the game. Beautiful stadium. If you get a chance make sure you go. Huge campus too. Must've been too nice of a day because not much noise from their crowd. However the students that were there did their best with help from their "yell" leader. Seems to be a California thing because when I was at Cal Berkeley last year they used it as well. Anyways the students stayed right to the bitter end even after Davis didn't complete the 4th down. Game was a bit of a boring chess match, but the defense just played so well. I've never seen so many tipped balls at the line of scrimmage. And in the end we started getting to the qb. Offense didn't cost us the game, but should've been able to put up more points. We seemed quicker than the Davis secondary as we had guys open downfield.
  8. i really hope we get a bit creative on offense. I've seen enough of running up the middle (and not Sutton doing it). What happened to Mussman's favorite overused play the WR bubble screen? I'd really think we have a couple players that could benefit from getting the ball in a situation to run a bit like McGill and Miller or Garmen. I liked how our offense started against Davis. A lot of sit down 5 yd routes that were able to go for few more. End of game the slant was something we used and I can't think of another time this year we threw it. Also we were close on oh so many big plays. Goska needed just a teeny bit more touch for a few of those plays to go for monster yards. However, too often he threw deep on 3rd and short. I don't mind a shot once in a while. I'm expecting usd to throw the ball a lot and very quickly. So what's the game plan for that? I'm not a fan of the bend but don't break employed against suu. Now is the time to bump some receivers to get them out of rhythm.

I'm heading to the game this weekend. Any advice? Drinking, eating, drinking? Where's best to sit? I'm guessing visiting fans are in the corner so is it better to just find seats elsewhere?
  10. Few observations: - offensively we are so predictable and vanilla. If its first down we are running up the middle. - did we ever get to the outside? because running up the middle didn't work. - Their d line was good. - Their punter had one hell of a leg. I've never been a fan of the 3 back guys right in front of the punter. They always seem too close and lets guys run in full steam. - passing was better. In the first quarter it seemed like every route runner was open. I thought we could've passed more, but usf did seem to tighten coverage as game went on. - in second half, though, all we were throwing was 3 yd check down routes. And it wasn't working. - I have never seen a team have so many 3rd and over 10 yards to go. I've been a good company man when watching this team and evaluating things, but dang was this frustrating to watch.
  11. What's the status on his injury? Their backup was playing at the end against Poly.
  12. What did the Minot St. final end up being? I know it was 10-9 sf at one point.
  13. USD is having to punt with minute left. And SD is playing with backup quarterback. Anyone know the deal on that?
  14. What were you thinking ahead of time???
  15. Which only adds to the question of why they were added.
  16. Click on the Big Sky Pass option and then video screen will come up with all Big Sky games on right hand side.
  17. Are you able to on demand the games later?
  18. After taking my third trip to Madison one very impressive thing is how everyone wears red. Even if they aren't going to the game. They love their sports and show it. They also aren't the jerks that you get when going to Minnesota games. I heard one comment directed at me the whole weekend and it was "sue's a girls name."
  19. Isn't Hawkeyes also named after a Native American chief?
  20. I agree when it comes to looking at current FCS teams (needs someone close to UND). I really feel like Fullerton is waiting to see what happens to FBS though. Like he said in the article: 16 teams isn't really a good conference number because it makes it too easy for 8 schools to re-form on their own. But add those 3 WAC FBS schools and the Big Sky is sitting at 14.
  21. This article is a very informative interview. Doug Fullerton seems to like to talk, though it seems like always to Sacramento. I could have put this in every category on Sioux Sports except for hockey. Football has the biggest tie to Big Sky so I chose here. It's long but good. http://sacstatesport...rton/#more-1189 I quoted the direct stuff on UND. He also covers wanting to add a like minded 12th all sports member, but they are being very careful. Talks a lot about the conference shake ups. Also mentions basketball tournament and that a new TV deal is coming in next 30 days.
  22. Sounds like the MWC and CUSA football merger is a done deal with more this evening. http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/7102822/mountain-west-conference-usa-announce-football-only-alliance
  23. Not many students were at hockey last night. The hockey was an extra cost. No excuse for pathetic student section. Maybe 50 were at fb.
  24. Not given in season ticket packages or with student tickets. Did they even offer students cheaper tickets for this?
