One thing I do wonder: What is the intermission show like for MSUM? It certainly couldn't be worse than ours. Who was it that interviewed Brenk last night between the first and second periods? That person should be fired, and then shot! WHO CARES about how long it takes for Brenk to get ready to go out for a night on the town!!! WHO CARES where Kaip takes his girlfriend on a date!!!! What the HELL kind of broadcasting is this? I'd rather have the local news or even an infomercial, YES AN INFOMERCIAL, rather than this pathetic drivel! End Rant?

Jones had, from what I saw, a bunch of quality shots on net including one whose rebound was put in the net. I love Bina too, but Jones has been scoring. And I'm sorry, I'm not going to qualify the Smaby dig with a response more than this sentence.

Everything is his fault really. I think, when it comes down to it here's what needs to happen: Cut JPar from the team and our record will improve. As everyone knows, that one goal loss to Denver last year was ENTIRELY JPar's fault. If he had just flopped at the right minute, that would have been an easy save and the game would have gone to overtime. Sorry, Numb, I don't care what anyone thinks and I think neither does Hakstol. JPar is a valuable asset to this team and will remain so until JPar either leaves the team or graduates (which will probably be one and the same). He will get his playing time as the #2 goaltender. Gosh, if Phil hits a wall either late in this season or next season, I'm not sure I want to be around to hear what all of you would want in nets. Suddenly, everyone will suck. Jordan made a mistake. Ok. The result TIED THE GAME. It did NOT win the game for the Mavericks. What happened to covering Backes? Why aren't we trying to pin this on whomever it was whose job it was to cover David Backes? WHY would you allow the, arguably, most talented scorer on the team to remain open at the side of the net?

I think, if you want tickets ahead of time, ticketmaster is the way to go.; I think the tickets at the box office even print in ticketmaster livery so to speak. As far as lodging is concerned, there really aren't all that many hotels that are truly out of the way of the Ralph. This is Grand Forks we're talking about. Not Detroit. There is the Holiday Inn (not the Express) and the Hilton Garden Inn which are adjacent to UND's campus. I don't think the Westward Ho's Best Western is around any longer so I think those two and a Select Inn are the closest to the Ralph. I wouldn't recommend the Select Inn. As to getting to and from the arena, I am not sure about going to the arena, but several local bars have shuttles to and from the game and the Ralph has a program with the local cab service but only for after the games. Others can help with the food stuff. Red Pepper is supposed to be good.

JJ has played this year, but I believe only once and in a preseason game. I believe he was the goaltender of record in the loss to UAA.

Also, I think that the WCHA has gotten that much more dominant. I mean, bottom 10 WCHA teams are still able to compete with other conferences in terms of strength, not to mention the ability to pull off a major victory of a top tier WCHA team. Just ask UAA, MTU, and MSUM fans this weekend about what they thought going into this weekend as to what would happen with their teams.

If I take the past threads correctly, the general consensus is this: Jordan sucks. Brandt's only played in 3 games or so, won one, tyed another, and completely sucked in the third (Gophers) but anyone is better than JPar. Jordan is the main problem behind every time we've lost when he's been the starter. Please, everyone, correct me if I'm remotely incorrect. I just removed the tact from everyone's posts and put the jist right there. I like Jordan but I really don't think it's his fault. What do I think is the fault? Offense and conditioning. Yes, conditioning. It seems as though we cannot put two games together. Especially against an opponent who is playing well. 1 goal leads in the 3rd are NEVER secure with this team because we seem to stall offensively once we get on top. Gosh I'm glad I was busy sucking at bowling and laughing with my friends rather than listen to the rest of the game. It must have been excrutiating.

Admittedly no, but it seems like it is disproportionate on how many whiffs we are getting compared to other teams in the top 5 of the WCHA. I'm sure it is my frustration showing through.

He's got a great shot, good stick handling, uses his size (crashing the net and strong in the corners) and he is a SUPERB PK player. I really don't think he's the fastest player on the ice, but he isn't slow. Murray and Spirko, IMO, are faster. Speed wise, he's a lot like Drew Stafford.
-
It doesn't matter. The more talented the player, the more clutching and grabbing. There aren't enough Thelens and Jack Johnsons around so that they can change that game style. And Superman- The draft status threat isn't towards the NHL or even towards Jonathon. It's towards his younger brother's chances at a Major Junior draft. Major juniors draft rankings have little power over where they go in the NHL draft. The reason why Jonathon was drafted so highly by the WHL was because of his skill plus the strong possibility at the time that he would come. Drew Stafford was drafted by Red Deer but, to my knowledge, I doubt it was very high because Drew wanted to go DI and made it known. Nevertheless, this is a VERY tough decision for Jonathon and a very stressful situation to be in. I wouldn't want to be a Toews right now. By the way, regarding that agent guy, how is this legal? I thought that, should an athlete hire an agent, his eligibility for NCAA DI would be null and void?

Ah. Well, then, I sit corrected. Thanks.

Missed an open net. Wow. That's like, what, 6 times? We win, but wow. 3-2 win by the Sioux. Lots of penalties. ANOTHER missed open net. End score SHOULD read 4-2. Oh well. We won.

Don't know what to think of this call. One minute TH is saying it was a questionable call and the next minute it is a good call. My question is: How do the officials expect a player to play defense without a stick? Wave his hands and skate around hoping to have the puck land on the skates. Fan appreciation day evidentally without the students there. Just goes to show what REA thinks about us.
-
A good question is: Why do they advertise a start of the game at 7:35 and the NEVER get the game started on time?
-
Is this Jon's decision or is it Mom's decision? If it is Mom's decision then it truly smells like Eric Lindros and I say let Tri City have him. We don't need an off ice circus show.
-
Is anyone getting tired of the "can't get his stick on it"s and "fanned on the shot"s? It's quite frustrating that we'd have maybe 4 goals on top of Fuher's if they could just pass. I think they need to do passing drills on bad ice to help them corral bouncing pucks. 3 on 2 rush and they couldn't bury it.

Not injury: illness. David suffers from a rare kidney (?) ailment that apparently has returned. It seems to be an on again, off again type of thing. David suffered from it last during the second half of his final season with the Sioux. As far as I know, that's what's going on. PCM or others may have more specifics.

An outsider's perspective of the Sioux this year.

I'm inclined to forget about our PP unit. We haven't had a decent PP in years. -
I'm definitely up for opening the spots that aren't full to the general public even if the logistics aren't all that easy to do. But as for basing your entire experience based on the parking: I think it's best that they didn't come back for a few reasons: 1. That leaves one-two parking spaces elsewhere for those who care enough about Sioux hockey to walk it. 2. If they are entering the Ralph already upset about the parking situation, that tends to cloud judgement and shorten restraint, which leads to b****ing about those fans who don't sit there and watch quietly. Heck, I wait outside for nearly 2 hours to get a good seat upstairs PLUS I park in the Med School parking lot (when I can't park behind that frat). Dedication is all it comes to. If they (or you) want convenience, stay home and tune in on the TV. I hear refreshments are cheaper as well.

Hi! It's your friendly "stick up for the guy being bashed" redwing77 here! I'm going to say this: First off, we should be worried with Kaip's condition. PCS has ended or threatened to end several hockey players' careers in the past. This isn't an MCL tear or a shoulder problem. This could be far more serious in that we could lose Kaip PERMANENTLY if it is serious enough. I feel for the guy, seeing as how he was drafted (9th round, but still...) and he has been very consistent the whole year so far. As for JPar, let's just say that I understand Brandt's history, but I'm sticking behind JPar. He's solid enough to be our #2. I love his glove hand. Bash away at JPar, I think he's going to be fine.

Careful. At times I think half of those who visit here would disagree. I think the Anti-Greene fan club is nearly as big as the Greene fan club. Me? Just like Matt Smaby, I like Matt Greene. I STILL think that Matt Jones is our best defenseman. I'm not going to go into Greene and why I like him because I think that topic has already been exhausted in other threads. If we are looking for another forward, why not that Jaroslav Markovic on Tri City? He is Spirko's friend and he played for Team Czech Republic this year and he seemed to know what he was doing. He's not that big (roster lists him at 5'11"). Edit: Markovic is even tied for first on Tri City in points scored. He is 11-14-25 in 29 games. He is 2nd in the team in goals and 3rd in the team in assists. He is tied for 3rd in PPGs and first on the team in SHG. Edit times2: Ok, going over the USHL states page and a lot of the top scorers have already committed to college, but there are two that pop up who aren't taken yet among forwards: Corey Elkins of Sioux City (good numbers but he'd be coming in as a 20 year old freshman) and Brian Bales (who is also an '85 birthdate like Elkins... he's from Alaska too which begs the question why UAA isn't recruiting this guy.) Among defensemen, let's see.... Joe Charlesbois of Sioux City (he's from NY so if he does get to DI me thinks it will be out east) and a Latvian named Aleksandrs Jerofijevs

Just for kicks I looked up the Central Hockey League (hey, I'm bored) and brought up their top scorers stats page. Here's what I've found: Bryan Lundbohm, who plays for Ft. Worth, is tied for 19th in the CHL with 30 points. Aaron Schneekloth has 14 points, all assists for New Mexico. Chad Mazurak has 8 points for the Wichita Thunder And that's it.

Ok. Here's the ECHL Update: Jason Notermann is doing VERY well. He is currently second on Atlantic City in points scored. He would be third if Derek Edwardson hadn't been taken off the roster (I think called up to the AHL). Not a Sioux, but GF Native Jake Moreland is doing exceptionally well for Atlantic City as well. 18-4 with a 2.17 GAA and a .933 Save% Chris Leinweber hasn't played much (8 games) and hasn't scored a point with Johnstown. He has a -2 +/- as well. Kevin Spiewak is 8th on South Carolina with 5g-4a-9p in 17 games. He is also a -1 +/- David Lundbohm and Tim O'Connell are 7th and 8th respectively in points scored for the Florida Everblades. David is a +2 and Tim a +12 in +/- Apparently, that's the extent of Sioux players currently in the ECHL. I admit that I do miss a few players here and there, like I didn't notice DeFauw's name in either the AHL or ECHL. Did he go overseas?
