  1. I completely agree. Our players make mistakes, some of those mistakes cost us, but I'll NEVER say that our D or our forwards should suffer misfortune. Yes, I do recall I did not have anything good to say about Siembida, but I guess you'll just have to trust the fact that those players currently on this team, and on teams of the future, will not be so criticized as Josh was from the likes of me.
  2. No. But Milewski picked us to sweep by a scoring margin of maybe 3 goals each game? I don't know. Can't explain that comment the morning after. I was really really pissed last night.
  3. dagies and mikejm, I appreciate your insight on the game and the players. I am not willing to give up on Matt Smaby, but what I am willing to wonder is this: What's his confidence level at? Are there issues going on with him off the ice? Let's face it folks, DI Hockey is not very kind on big dfensemen (classifying big as being 6'2" or taller). Matt's game, like Greene's game, will do fine in the pros because he won't have to worry about whether or not his hit is going to be legal or not on any given night. A lot of his elbowing calls are simply because he didn't remember to slouch or bend down when going for the check, IMO. His elbows when he checks often times are right at the neck or head level of a lot of players in DI hockey. Smaby is a young kid, still, and perhaps what's going on is too much to think of at this level. He doesn't need more talent, he's got that. He doesn't need to get smart, that will come in time. What he needs is to mature a bit more. He also needs a calming influence off the ice (either a teammate or a good friend or even a coach). NOTE: Mind you, I'm not an expert, nor do I know what's actually going on with Matt Smaby, but if his confidence level is down, I think that can affect his game enough to where fans can construe his play as being a liability. One doesn't improve in leaps and bounds on half of the season only to regress the next because they lose ability.. Something's going on. Marvin, Spirko, Zajac, Jones, and Stafford, IMO, had good games. Genoway had a slow start, as dagies (I think) stated, but then he turned things around. Disappointing play yesterday came from Prpich, McMahon, Phil (first 2 periods), Schneider (I think he had the worst night defensively of all the D), and I will say that Smaby didn't have a good game either. I hope tonight will be different. Last note: It sucks that I graduated in December. I'm on the outside looking in.
  4. Damstrait, NDH, et al., What's the point of insulting (or whatever you want to call it) me? I just don't understand a concept of the game and I asked such and the reply I got I didn't understand. What's wrong about that? I do feel I know something about hockey, sprig. I know way more about hockey than football, but by no means am I an expert on anything! I don't claim such! Never have. I just don't understand why an obvious attempt to learn how nonconference games affects my team is grounds for insulting me even if you may have taken it as a stupid question.
  5. UNO vs. Omaha's AHL exhibition game?
  6. dagies- TH said it was Hennessy. Since I am in Fargo, that's the only info I have. TH said that he "undressed" Climie. Was it really that cut and dry? It sounded like a really neat play.
  7. killing who? You? So, in other words, we could lose both of these games and it wouldn't affect us at all in terms of NCAAs? These games have to count for something, they aren't exhibition!
  8. Can't imagine I'm saying this, but I guess that is another positive from the game. Our PP didn't suck! I truly believe that Eades has put life back into that system. Now, if we can get him to take over the 5x5....
  9. I think the CHA guy is going to be closer to the mark score wise than Milewski after all. UND players head to the locker room saying "Thank God we didn't lose." BSU players head to the locker room saying "I can't believe we didn't win. We should have won." BSU Should have won this game.
  10. I think the difference tonight was SPirko and Zajac: Spirko WHIFFS! Zajac hits the crossbar. Oh well. Other key points: Did anyone notice what happened with BSU when they parked someone in front of the net? Why, 3 goals of course. Does anyone find it odd that we didn't figure that out until the 3rd period? First and Second periods are highlighted with just plain poor hockey. Third period was excellent playing by the Sioux. Overtime was simply playing for the tie. I cannot stress it enough: SHOOT THE PUCK! Instead of dump and chase it should be SHOOT and CRASH. Tonight's tie was good in that we got 1 point out of the deal. Tonight's game was bad because it's as good as a loss. EDIT: Despite the fact that we would have spent more time in the box, do you all think they would have crashed the net so much if Greene were in the lineup?
  11. So far, Kaip hasn't scored a goal, true, but McMahon doesn't really seem to have the scoring touch apart from this year really. Last year was Rory's only year as a Sioux to cross into double digits in goals (10). I think Blais used the wrong terminology when it came to describing Kaip's play. Potentially, I do see Kaip being a lot like McMahon: strong defensive forward who could eventually score. Kaip and Radke seem to be the development projects... if Kaip can return.
  12. What does this mean for UNO's nice arena? Do they still get exclusive rights to it or can this AHL team just boot them whenever they feel like it? P.S. Eruzione was a fabulous olympic hockey player, but I've read his stuff for CSTV and it's pretty much Eastern bias crap. He may have forgotten where he was from during the training to the Olympics, but he remembered it immediately following it. Nevertheless, the others are great people and could really do things for the program. I know that Andy Murray of LA Kings fame, owns the Salmon Arm Silverbacks of the BCHL and he's basically put that program on the map up there.
  13. I'm cautiously optimistic. I think the Sioux will sweep, but I doubt it will be by rout. From what I gather, this BSU team is a better team in a really really bad conference. But I would rather play BSU than Canisius anyways (sorry Forecheck). I predict sweep, but I think we use these games to try to get back into gritty hockey. HOPEFULLY we'll see plenty of parking in front of Layne and crashing the net. EDIT: Oh, and, depending upon who officiates and how the official wishes to call the game, I do not see an appreciable difference in penalty calling (even without Greene).
  14. Hey, you know, I think Canisius went easy on them. ONly suspending them for 2 games, and games against the US NDPT team at that! Oh wait, that's probably the biggest series they've had competition wise since they played us In any case, tough luck for Canisius.
  15. It could hurt the surface of the olympic ice or something silly like that. Actually, the prospect of valet parking would be a great idea. They can also do something akin to the 50/50 raffle where people can enter for a dollar to win the honor of free valet parking for a home game. As for the price for this, $2 is a pipe dream. It would probably START at about 5 times that, if it is even THAT cheap. All I know is that paying for parking is fine if it is the general public (no offense). After all, they don't pay student fees. We have a parking permit that entitles us to park in the lots of that denomination. If I have an S tag and I'm parking in an S lot, like hell if I am going to pay to park there for a hockey game.
  16. And look who was officiating
  17. In New Orleans you can order mixed drinks through drive thrus at liquor stores. Or at least you could at one time 1980-present.
  18. I agree. And I was a little harsh with SiouxTX as well. My apologies. Anyways, back to the topic at hand. I agree with this. Greene's dismissal would really do more damage than good. Was he stupid for what he did? Yup. Does he deserve punishment should he be found to have actually driven under the influence? Absolutely. What should that punishment be? Gosh, I'm not qualified to answer that question. However, I do think it can't be light handed. Athletes from many different schools have done things far worse than this and gotten away with it (I didn't think Winchester's team punishment was all that severe, but I'm sure there are far more better examples), while some athletes at some schools have done less and gotten run out of town (Goephert and his plagarising). Whatever the outcome is, we have to look at this in an objective manner. If he is found guilty, I'm sure some of the gopher flamers that come here will say that only removal from the team is adequate punishment and any deal that keeps him on UND's team would be like UND abetting a criminal or promoting the act. We have to ignore those posters. I'm sure Matt feels awful, or did so when it was happening. But now, all he can do is ride this thing out. I won't vouch for his behavior and choices last Sunday, but I will stand up for his continuance on the team, even if it is shortened by suspension.
  19. I agree! Stop trying to become the story. From now on, your articles should be titled: PCM Says That...
  20. Hey, you know what? I love flaming too! I think you have no life. I think all you want to do is to come here, claim you are a Sioux fan, and then flame people whose opinion is different than yours. What I think, is that you are from Texas. And since Texas boasts the city with the largest dropout rate among high school students in the nation (Houston), perhaps your reading competancy isn't all that high. So, let me backscroll a bit and find the key points and put them like this so you may figure this out. Item A: PCM's article was released AFTER UND's official release Item B: Rumors were flying BEFORE UND's release Item C: What good is an article if no one knows about it? Item D: What forces you to follow the link? If you don't like it, don't read it! Item E: Obviously you've never seen a talk show such as the Jay Leno Show, Tonight Show, Daily Show, etc. I'm sure you must explode every time you see an actor or a director talking about their latest work. Item F: I recall PCM's story being written about Matt Greene and what he did. If he wanted to become the story, maybe he would write his memoirs? Item G: MATT GREENE ALLEGEDLY DROVE UNDER THE INFLUENCE!!!!! IF HE DID IT, OR EVEN IF THE CHARGES ARE DROPPED MATT DID THIS TO HIMSELF!!!!! Questions?
  21. Good point.
