Fair questions. This is a message board where people have opinions. I think the logo has been pushed by UND and they are getting pushback from independent retailers. Also the UND alum who own businesses and business owners who want to co-brand with the Flagship University want the apparel, promo items, etc. that they give to customers to be worn and not shoved in a drawer or laying on the bottom of someone's closet. I am not sure how many hats Hugo's gave away at a hockey game last year but 100's were left to swept up with the empty beer cups and candy wrappers. I am sure UND would like to get paid royalties on items that aren't going right to the clearance rack.

I would agree. Roll out an alternative logo for Athletics.

Just pointing out how we got here. I am by no means saying we should go back and restart Kelly's clusterf*ck of a plan. We have a name, lets figure out a way to be able to market and brand it. I know that corporate customers who are co-branding UND don't want the Hawk logo and retail is requesting items and art without it as well. In simple terms, it isn't selling now and in all likelihood won't sell in the future.

It's not the name. It is vanilla but it can be and should be marketed and branded. But marketing the logo is going to be a never ending uphill battle. so we either keep pushing the logo....maybe enough people will obtain items with the logo through giveaways and clearance racks although that won't do much for UND pocketbook put the logo on the backburner and push the name and then in a couple years roll out a fresh logo scrap the logo but keep branding the name The whole idea of licensed goods is to put some money in UND's coffers. We can wait 5-10 years and then look back and realize what we have lost financially. The logo isn't happening now and isn't going to be happening in the future.

I simply pointed out that out of 8 garments, zero had the horrible logo on it and noted their commentary on the logo. Are you really this much of a simpleton? That is a rhetorical question, no answer needed. Of course being the simple minded person you are I am sure you will come up with some idiotic answer that again has nothing to do with the point. Well. I am not a fan, but for starters, their logo doesn't suck.

Simply put. It is a terrible logo. Out of this whole logo mess why not accentuate the little bit they got right in the wordmark and font.

Had lunch at Potbelly in Fargo today. Ended up sitting at a table next to 4 girls all 19-22(guessing), all wearing UND garb head to toe(shirts, sweatshirts, shorts, sweats). One girl had on a long sleeve tee shirt that had North Dakota Fighting Hawks on it. The other 7 items of apparel either just said UND, University of North Dakota, or North Dakota on them. I talked to them a bit, they all currently attend UND. I made some comment about that being obvious. I asked them why they didn't have anything with the Hawk logo on it and a couple of them scrunched their noses and shook their heads and one said it is an Ugly logo. Couldn't argue with that. Asked about Sioux logo and it they owned any and while a couple said they had some from when they were younger they all considered themselves Fighting Hawks but hated the logo.

Don't know, don't care. It really isn't something I notice more than once. My atmospheric experience hasn't changed in the last 17 years. Just would rather not have an ugly logo that we would hopefully be transitioning away from in the next couple years.

No, no I don't. Have a Hawk deliver the game ball to midfield for the kickoff....and not the one in the outfit.

For the sake of us generating revenue from licensed sales, hopefully this is the case again.

For that kind of scratch I would hope it was privately funded.
