Well, with Air Force in Sioux Falls the press conferences will be entertaining!

If a Player drafted at age 20 or older is a bona fide college student at the time of his selection or becomes a bona fide college student while his drafting Club retains exclusive rights, then his drafting Club shall retain those rights until the later of: (a) the second June 1 following the date of his selection, or (b) thirty (30) days after NHL Central Registry receives notice that the Player is no longer a bona fide college student; provided that if the Player: (1) is in his fourth year of college and has commenced his fourth year of NCAA eligibility and the Player ceases to be a bona fide college student on or after January 1 of an academic year, or (2) is in his fourth year of college, is scheduled to graduate from college at the end of his fourth year and the Player ceases to be a bona fide college student on or after January 1 of an academic year, or (3) remains a bona fide college student through the graduation of his college class, then in the circumstances described in (1) or (2) or (3), the Club shall retain the exclusive right of negotiation for such Player's services through and including August 15 of that calendar year.

I hope they both stay but I think they can both become free agents this summer. I believe Wolanin wasn't drafted until 2015 when he was 20 years old. Gersich is younger but was drafted a year earlier.
-
I have heard he will wait until July 1(I think that is the date) and declare himself a free agent.

Pretty sure this is why we brought in a firm specializing in Title 9 compliance ahead of time.

Wow. haven't read article but that has to be 30-35 years of pay for that job?

Fargo finally got the state to allow them to have a AA bantam program which will help the top end kids by allowing them to play against better competition. Last year was the first season for Fargo at that level and it just worked out that all but 1 or 2 kids that made that team are Davies kids. If each high school had the numbers to support a Bantam team at that level that would be great. The biggest thing Moorhead has going for it is culture and having the High School coaches being involved and sharing their philosophies and what they expect for style of play, systems, power play, etc. certainly helps. Lets just say the High School coaches in Fargo are involved in the youth program at varying levels of interest and influence. Competing against the best is definitely the best case scenario for your top end players but with a goal of being competitive and also of player development in youth hockey and kids growing and developing at different rates it is not always the worst case for a kid who might be good enough to make the first team and play a limited role to maybe develop leadership qualities and be allowed to get more ice time and be a key player in different situations for the 2nd team...and this isn't just true in the youth levels. Example--I won't use his name but I know a kid who had a pretty good high school career in Minnesota and tried out for the USHL and was told they wanted to keep him on the team. He would have been their 7th defenseman to start the year. He also had tried out for and been offered a spot on an NAHL team which he ended up taking for his first year of juniors where he was on their top pair of D and was key to their power play and penalty kill. It allowed him to develop and become a leader and he played in the USHL the following year and then accepted 1 of the several offers he received to play College Hockey. I don't disagree with the desire and ideal situation of having a feeder program for each school but then it is a catch 22 where your best players may not be challenged by playing below their compete level. Agree. The objective should be to do both but that is a tough objective to meet.

Correct. and then UND would still get accused of home ice advantage.
-
David Hale was one of the most dominant college hockey defenseman we have had here. If not for injuries and health issues would have carved a long NHL career...might even still be playing.

I think for free agents it depends on age. The length of the entry-level contract is also dependent on the player’s age: 18-21 years of age: 3 years 22-23 years of age: 2 years 24 years of age: 1 year Entry-level contracts can still include signing and performance bonuses. Signing bonuses may not exceed 10 percent of the contract’s total compensation, and is paid to players annually. Performance bonuses for entry-level contracts, that are paid by the team and count against the salary cap cannot exceed a maximum of $2,850,000. Performance Bonuses are broken into 2 categories: Schedule A and Schedule B. Schedule A Bonuses may not exceed $212,500 per individual bonus, and $850,000 in total. There are two types of Schedule B Bonuses. League-wide award/trophy bonuses that are paid by the league and are not captured within the actual entry-level contract signed by the player, and player & club agreed upon bonuses, of which the maximum is $2million per season.

My favorite was when he skated by the Denver bench and asked Gwoz if they sold Men's clothing at the place he got his suit. TV happened to capture the video, not the audio(Hextall or a teammate let it be known what he said a few weeks later) but you could see the Denver players smiling and trying to hold back laughter. Gwoz was not happy.
-
The one thing that has never made sense to me is they will switch around the 5 seed and 8 seed if necessary but no way in hell would they switch around the 7 and 9.
-
This isn't the basketball tournament. No smoke filled rooms or conspiracies in hockey.
-
They were The Ellen show. Should have pulled her aside.
-
Correct. Catch 22. If they were funded at an amount similar to the D2 teams with women's hockey they are still around....but if we did that, then Title 9 puts the squeeze on UND.
-
Since we are already working on 2020-21 and 2021-22 who are the kids we should be after? These are the top ranked kids that as far as I know are still uncommitted as far as Americans go. Forwards Stephen Halliday---probably going the CHL route Matthew Beniers Thomas Bordeleau Patrick Schmiedlin Johnny Waldron Ty Tullio---probably going to the CHL route Chase Yoder Jimmy Doyle Matthew Knies Jacob Perreault Riley Piercey--probably going the CHL route D-Men Scott Morrow John Opilka Spencer Evans Avery Winslow Gerard Keane Goalies Xavier Medina Noah Grannan Joseph Tynan

He is a good player and would be a nice addition. He is an 01 but is a sophomore. He is slated to join Denver in 2020-21 I believe. I am sure UND would have liked to have had him but all schools have recruiting boards going out 5 and 6 years and maybe his style is similar to someone already in the pipeline or maybe he had no interest in attending UND. In 20-21 we already have the #1 and #4 2002 born defensemen in the country coming in and the #4 2002 born forward coming in(if he accelerates his schooling).....Like I said before our 2018-19 class might look a little underwhelming but we are bringing in some older kids next year but our 2019-2020 and 2020-21 classes are as good or better than anyone in the country as it stands right now.
-
So which players have we "lost" to Denver?
-
We have 11 Minnesota kids on our roster currently. Recruiting classes are normally between 6 and 8 kids and if you look at a 4 year cycle having 3 Minnesota kids would seem to be pretty normal.
-
Well at 11% we have a higher percentage of people in favor of changing the goal song than we had vote for the new nickname....lets get it done!

Doesn't all have to be downtown. http://www.simon.com/mall/coconut-point/dining https://www.gulfcoasttowncenter.com/directory/ https://www.thebelltowershops.com/directory/dining-and-entertainment/2138210030 https://www.visittampabay.com/listings/international-plaza-and-bay-street/2891/ https://yborcityonline.com/ These are popping up slowly in Fargo and West Fargo but seemingly at the cost of private developers while anyone who wants to open anything downtown gets incentives. Fargo is about 4-5 miles wide and 8 miles long and yet it seems like 85% of any city investment goes to a 5 block by 8 block area.
