NORTH DAKOTA @ CC - SATURDAY Gameday ********
InHeavenThereIsNoBeer replied to AZSIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey
Agreed, as rough as Tomek looked against CC I'm not willing to write him off. I remember overreacting to Cam's first start and thinking there's no way he'll be a consistent starter. Then he went and set a bunch of UND records the following year, shows what I know about goaltending -
NORTH DAKOTA @ CC - SATURDAY Gameday ********
InHeavenThereIsNoBeer replied to AZSIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey
Just got back from Colorado Springs, my observations: - To my surprise, CC continued to play racehorse hockey with us after going up 2-0 on Friday which allowed us back in the game. They didn't make the same mistake on Saturday and packed it in + got a heck of a performance/luck in shutting us out. - The Bowen line really impresses me and Dixon seems to get better every week. He showed great poise on the breakaway Friday where most freshies would fire that puck immediately. - Teams are focusing on Boeser and a great example was the 2 on 1 we scored Friday to make it 4-2. The defender essentially left Gersich wide open for a clean shot to make sure Brock wouldn't get a shot. Gersich made him pay. - #16 is getting extremely frustrated and isn't moving his feet like he needs to be. It could be due to an injury but we need him to play harder and with more as part of the team if we are going to make a run in the postseason. I don't question his desire but what he's doing isn't working. Needs to play a 200 ft game and let the offense come to him rather than forcing it because he absolutely is. - I'm not as upset about losing on Saturday as I thought I'd be because this team dominated time of possession/SOG for long periods 5on5. I know people hate to hear it in here but that really was a hot goalie. I sat directly behind him for 2 of the 3 periods and if he didn't make the save, the post did for him. -We're lucky that stay at 9 in PWR but #12-13 could be one loss away. We need guys to start blocking more shots, back checking harder and being more desperate in general. -
Good to hear he's not in a boot.

Would be a heck of a nice arena to start in for a beginning D1 team -

Hall of Fame Game Oct 2018
InHeavenThereIsNoBeer replied to siouxfaninseattle's topic in Tickets wanted / for sale
Judging by the fact that it only holds 7,700 for hockey and looking at the arena pictures, I don't think there's a bad seat in the house. -
Anyone know of a UND fan get together in Colorado Springs for this weekend? There is a BWW within walking distance of the arena so that's where the people I'm going with planned on going.
-
How much does being the only Dakota school in a conference add in tangible benefits though? It's not like because we were in a separate conference recruits didn't notice Moo U playing in The Summit 80 miles down the road.

Right there with ya, excited to see the old rivalries back at The Alerus/Betty But what do I know? I'm just a hockey fan...or so I'm told

What am I missing? Why the doom and gloom?

Let's call up UNO and SCSU to see if we can move those series to their barns. I'm only sort of kidding...
-
Wow... I think we'll sweep but I'd even throw $5-10 on that. Crazy good odds.

Just in case anyone missed Jim Dahl's new look to his PWR site it's pretty handy. http://collegehockeyranked.com/forecast/pwrbywins/ Looks like winning 5 of out of the last 10 games would put UND on the bubble needing to win the 1st round series to make the field. However, 7+ wins would make me feel much more comfortable going into NCHC tournament play.

I think I'm the only person who thinks Ausmus has gotten better from the beginning of this yr to right now. IMO he's not holding onto the puck as long when exiting the zone and is making more level-headed plays when making the first pass. Not saying he's immune from a bad play now and then but I think he has improved in taking care of the puck for the most part.

That's way too level-headed for this board 'tnt'. Bring your reasonable attitude elsewhere please

NORTH DAKOTA vs. UMD - SATURDAY Gameday ********
InHeavenThereIsNoBeer replied to AZSIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey
For a team to lose 9-1 and 7-3 they obviously didn't play their best. That being said, it was still a dominant performance. -
You're a better person than I.

I hope you repaid the favor in April

If that wasn't dominant, I don't know what is. And Omaha isn't a doormat, they're right on the bubble of NCAAs right now. -
Don't question Starman's motives... I believe it's a bullet point in the rules Stone.
-
Seems like he's an offensive defenseman looking at his stats. 6' 180lbs

UMD is one of the best teams in the nation right now so I don't think there are many teams that actually want to play them. -

Interesting that both BC's missed NCAAs were after national title years. I feel like I've seen it before but does anyone have the statistic on-hand for teams making/missing the NCAAs a year after a title? You'd think there could possibly be a letdown after getting to the top of the mountain while all the other teams are hungry/using the previous year's failure as motivation. -

This is a fantastic post to put it all into perspective. While BU may have gotten great "one and dones" to play for them Hakstol and Berry have found a good mix of high end & role players to fit into their system for a consistent chance at making the FF/being in league championship races. The above looks similar to Wisconsin's issue with balancing classes.
