  1. Good catch, I just remembered with certainty the 10-11 team avoided touching the trophy.
  2. Judging from Jim Dahl's pairwise breakdown this week, it looks like we most likely stay at #12 if we win 2 games vs SCSU. Is it just me or does it seem like we still need to win 1 game in Minneapolis if that's the case?
  3. Wasn't this the 2009-2010 team? I originally thought 2010-2011(I'm assuming you did too) but realized they never touched the McNaughton or The Broadmoor trophy. On a side note, I believe Hakstol regrets that decision because he mentioned he wishes he would've let them enjoy the ride a little more.
  4. One of the most interesting parts of the story that I wasn't aware of: This is Ulmer’s first season as a White Hawk, one of four Canadians on the team. Eight of the 10 teams in the league make the playoffs, but these are playoffs with a twist. The top three teams — 1st, 2nd and 3rd — get their turn in descending order at choosing which team they want to face first in a best-of-seven format from the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th place teams. With these “Pick-Your-Opponent” style of playoffs, the 1st place team doesn’t necessarily pick the 8th place team for the first round. Finishing last isn’t always a disadvantage. They may be hot. They could be healthy. They could be a six-hour bus ride away. And since the venues alternate, those six-hour one-way trips can be exhausting.
  5. Yeah we can wear the Legacy jerseys during the playoffs. Now to decide whether to use the geometric or Brien logo. Gotta maintain that trademark, amirite?
  6. To be fair, Moy doesn't select the brackets. He just tells you how the committee will select them. I believe he is spot on every year too. In other words, don't kill the messenger.
  7. Please tell me you're trolling. These 2 events aren't even close to comparable.
  8. It looks like UND went from 12 to T-11 in Pairwise too
  9. Schmaltz wore Olson's jersey and scored the goals
  10. It's rare for a team to make a run to the NCAA title without a few scares. I'm just happy we were never trailing in the Frozen Four. In fact, I think the only time we trailed in the tourney was to Northeastern at the very beginning of the game. In the title game, I kept expecting Quinnipiac to make a push and it never happened. Didn't let my guard down we were up 5-1 with about 30 seconds when it was almost physically impossible to score 4 goals.
  11. 1. Pied Piper CEO(HBO show 'Silicon Valley') Richard Hendricks 2. Goaltender Ryan Larkin
  12. Not a travel question, but has Miami struggled this year as a result of the temptations that South Beach provides?
  13. I love how Bowen plays, think he could be a really nice player moving forward. Would love to get him healthy for Miami!
  14. Or they'll relish the thought of ending our season like we did to them last year
  15. You like our chances better at the Target Center against the 2 best teams in the country?
  16. If we don't win Friday, it may not matter much what we do on Saturday because we'll have to win the Frozen Faceoff to get in. I don't like the prospect of potentially having to beat Denver and Duluth at the Target Center to keep our season alive. In summation, let's sweep Miami m'kay? Then we'll at least be able to play for our season at The Ralph.
  17. I'm with you BSV, I b!tch and moan when we're playing like last night but why bury this team before it's officially over? Theres no awards for being the first person off the bandwagon. God knows crazier things have happened in college hockey. Not to get too deep on you but it reminds me of the quote in Julius Caesar: "Cowards did many times before their death; the valiant never taste of death but once." And I can now check off 'quoted Shakespeare on SS.com' from my things I never thought I'd do list.
  18. I think it's human nature to rest on your laurels after a season as incredible as our last. In that way, it does seem like some of the freshmen who weren't on that team are playing more desperate than the sophomores, jrs and seniors. Also, the teams that win those titles generally lose strong senior classes and/or NHL caliber players early to the pros. You won't hear the team using these excuses but they are still true. Lastly, I think(have heard) that there are a ton of players playing through injuries this year. Again, won't hear this out of the locker room but it could explain the underperforming.
  19. Bachman was a hell of a college goalie and the 1st good one that came to mind. I'm unaware of who Curtis McElhinney so it would have been difficult for me to pick him
  20. Congrats for booing a UND legend, I'm sure that'll give our team the boost it needs. He deserves recognition for his massive contributions to this program. No, he's not our coach anymore but I don't know why that means you can't respect the guy and his legacy. God knows Brad Berry and Dave Hakstol understood they may not be where they are today without him. IMO the guy earned the admiration he's given from our fans... he's also a genuine & down-to-earth guy if you ever talk to him.
  21. Was that you on the floor in the Alerus?
  22. I can't imagine he takes kindly to getting sprayed by opposing players
