Agreed I want nothing to do with that matchup in the 1st round. If the Gophers are gonna make it into the NCAA's I'd rather see them sent to the Notre Dame regional or shipped out East.

Thanks for posting it was a very good article. Having played high school hockey in Minnesota and still living there I wish most if not all of the Minnesota kids would stay and play high school hockey like they use to. Hopefully someday it gets back to where it is rare to see a MN kid leave early for juniors but I don't think the chances of that are real good.

Hard to fault Dubnyk too much the Wild did a much better job screening him and tipping pucks on him than they ever did on the Detroit goalie last night.
-
Haha I wish I had those kinds of skills Yeo is just so predictable after a loss.
-
I believe there was interest in him from Minnesota, UND, Duluth, and many other teams but one of the things that I think allowed Omaha to land him is allowing him to come straight from Grand Rapids. Omaha allowed him to come straight from high school just playing before/after the high school season in the USHL while others wanted him to play a full year of juniors before coming in. I know there was also a little bit of a question about whether he was a good enough skater to be a good college hockey player but I think he has answered that question pretty well in his first year at UNO.

I think Hammer mentioned that Olson would return to practice this week during one of the broadcasts this weekend.
-
Yeo seems to scared to play all 3 pairs once they get down a goal even though the top pair has been the one on the ice for a lot of goals lately. I think they are better when they role 3 pairs and really like the way the young guys like Dumba and Folin have been playing the last few games. Yeo doesn't seem to really trust the young players and I think that is a huge problem I wouldn't be surprised if he puts in Prosser tonight for Dumba or Folin even though they haven't been bad at all it would just be a typical Yeo move.

When watching the replay I noticed Nelson is basically right behind Bostick and Bostick said after the game he was supposed to block if that would have happened Nelson probably catches the ball. The thing I would be most upset with if I was the special teams coach is that it looked like you had it set up well but one guy tried to be the hero instead of just doing his job and ended up not making the play. You are right though many plays that contributed to that Packer meltdown.
-
I'm not panicking at all about firing Jones or not I was just stating the situation he has right now and the situation Pitino has right now aren't even close to the same and really shouldn't be compared.
-
That is another one I don't think they can return it for points in the NFL like you can in college but that should have been knocked down easily and the Crosby field goal could have won it then.
-
Agree would like to see the Colts win tonight but either way I'll want the AFC team to win the Super Bowl.
-
Lots of bad plays from Green Bay towards the end but the one that sticks out to me is the guy who picked Wilson with about 5 minutes left and just slid to the ground when it looked like the whole side of the field was open to run it back for a TD.
-
Wow what an unbelievable finish! If Green Bay finds a way to win in OT is Bostick still on the team when the Super Bowl kicks off.
-
Thought the Seahawks needed to go for that especially being at the 50. A couple 1st downs for Green Bay on this drive pretty much ends this one.
-
I absolutely hate when defenses only rush 2 or 3 guys and just drop into coverage. Why wasn't Green Bay playing field goal safe on the fake anyway in that situation with the short field goal?
-
Seattle is lucky the game is as close as it is could easily be at least 28-0 for Green Bay.
-
Gotta wonder if only getting 6 points out of those 2 great opportunities will come back to haunt Green Bay.
-
Agreed Minnesota could easily be 5-1 instead of 1-5 in the B1G right now blowing a couple late leads and also losing a couple on last second shots. Those trying to compare Pitino and Jones situation there is no comparison Pitino is in his 2nd season and still relying on players from the previous regime that don't exactly fit his system great and he has a very good recruiting class coming in next season. Minnesota definitely isn't a "garbage" team and I wouldn't be surprised to see them go on a winning streak and get themselves back in to the NCAA tourney conversation.

NORTH DAKOTA FIGHTING SIOUX vs Niagara Saturday game day thread
SiouxScore replied to Emerald joker's topic in Men's Hockey
Another pretty solid game tonight. Guys seemed to overpass it a little bit at times tonight especially in the 1st looking for the perfect play. I don't know what the puck possession numbers were but it seemed like the puck was on a Sioux stick almost the entire game. Really solid defensive effort not giving up many good opportunities at all and good to see Zane get the shutout tonight. -
Agreed I would think at the very least he would have some offers from some smaller schools but who knows maybe he is just waiting for a certain offer. Holy Family does play a pretty good schedule so it isn't like he is putting up the points he does against weak competition either.
-
The point totals for the Luverne are a little inflated because the schedule they play is probably one of the weakest in the state but a lot of that is because of their location in the state.
-
That could be I still think he is a very nice prospect just didn't really seem to have it today. Watching Hill-Murray and St. Thomas Academy now and it is a pretty good game. Saw Mike Yeo's son Kyler is a Soph. on Hill-Murray #9 and was curious as to how good he is but haven't really noticed him yet.
-
I thought he looked ok today but he looked much better when I saw him last year so maybe this was just a bad game for him. He really seemed to struggle with the puck and seemed to have trouble staying on his feet.
-
Hockey Day Minnesota today on FSN the first game gets started at 10:00 and is Luverne vs. St. Paul Johnson. A player to watch is #7 Jaxon Nelson from Luverne the Freshman is a highly touted prospect and was very good when I saw him in the State Tournament last Spring.

Gopher forwards really struggle to pick up guys going to the net the guy that scored Wiscos 2nd goal skated right by 2 Gopher forwards gliding back.
