Officials completely handed UNO the game in OT I never saw the roughing call but the MacMillan cross check was pathetic and something UNO had got away with on every PK. I thought the Sioux were the better team tonight and liked the way we played tonight for the most part just gotta be able to finish on more really good chances. I don't care who their coach is Omaha is a borderline dirty team and they were lucky they didn't get called for more penalties with the constant slashing and cross checking in front as well as getting away with interference on almost every dump in.

He was very good and came up with some real big saves in the 3rd. Wild actually generated some real good chances last night too but still have trouble finishing them.
-
Gotta get traffic to the net and can't be as sloppy coming out of our zone as we have been the past couple weeks if we do both those things well I think we will have success and get a sweep this weekend.

I'd be surprised if EGF and Bemidji aren't the two section 8 reps in St. Paul.
-
I wouldn't read too much into it a lot of initial interest letters get sent out and never develop into anything past that it is just that most players don't post it every time they get a letter.

NORTH DAKOTA FIGHTING SIOUX vs. CC - Saturday GamedaySiouxScore replied to AZSIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey Rocco and Nick really aren't the same type of player at all but if forced to pick one to be in the lineup I would still pick Nick even with the way he has been struggling a little lately. Nick is much more of a setup guy and playmaker while Rocco was basically able to create with his speed and had trouble finishing. Nick is much better along the walls and doesn't turn the puck over near as much as Rocco did I also think Nick is better in the defensive zone than Rocco ever was. I thought Nick looked more involved and had better jump this weekend but it just seemed like he couldn't really get the puck to settle on his stick this weekend even though he did have an assist last night.

NORTH DAKOTA FIGHTING SIOUX vs. CC - Saturday GamedaySiouxScore replied to AZSIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey Only difference is at home the 3rd goalie dresses and on the road he doesn't. Having Poolman up at forward and being able to move him back to D in certain situations makes it easier to limit some minutes but I'm sure they will make sure Stecher is 100% before he gets in the lineup again.

NORTH DAKOTA FIGHTING SIOUX vs. CC - Saturday GamedaySiouxScore replied to AZSIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey Kind of a sloppy game but sometimes you have to win that way. St. Clair looked really solid especially with how much time he has missed and I thought the move of Johnson worked pretty well tonight seemed like he had a little more jump and was more involved. Need to cut down on the turnovers going forward some of them were created by CC's trap but some were just careless errors and need to win more individual battles. Good matchup in Omaha next weekend hoping Olson and Stecher will be healthy and ready to go Friday.

I don't know how some people thought that just because it was Bemidji especially when they usually play UND pretty tough. Even watching that game you could see Bemidji had a lot more speed and better goaltending than some previous years their problem this year has been consistency. I'm still trying to figure out how bad they must have played last weekend to get swept by Lake Superior State.

Pretty weak game winning goal that Wilcox gave up he doesn't look near as solid as he did last season. Kinda seemed like Duluth stole the win with the way the 3rd was played. Gophers best chance to get into the NCAA's now is probably to win the B1G tourney.

NORTH DAKOTA FIGHTING SIOUX vs. CC - Saturday GamedaySiouxScore replied to AZSIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey North Dakota MHockey @UNDmhockey 3m3 minutes ago Colten St. Clair will play RW on a line with Stephane Pattyn and Nick Schmaltz. St. Clair had missed previous eight games due to injury. Murphy comes out of the lineup and Johnson moves to play RW with Chyzk and Caggiula my guess is this move is just to try to get some guys jump started again.

NORTH DAKOTA FIGHTING SIOUX vs CC Friday game threadSiouxScore replied to Emerald joker's topic in Men's Hockey I'm not a huge fan of Panz back on D but until we get some guys healthy I think our best option is him on D and Poolman up front. When everyone is back healthy I think it will be interesting to see if Hak keeps Poolman up front because I would expect both Olson and St.Clair to be in the lineup regularly probably comes down to whether you would rather have Johnson or Mattson stay in the lineup.

NORTH DAKOTA FIGHTING SIOUX vs CC Friday game threadSiouxScore replied to Emerald joker's topic in Men's Hockey I'd still probably take Nick over Rocco right now Nick just seems to be in much better position defensively most of the time and I like the way he can play along the boards while also not turning the puck over near as much as Rocco did.

NORTH DAKOTA FIGHTING SIOUX vs CC Friday game threadSiouxScore replied to Emerald joker's topic in Men's Hockey I thought he had pretty good jump making some nice plays last night and thought he looked a lot better than last weekend.

Williams actually said after the game he didn't know they could take a penalty shot and thought it would just be a penalty. Either way probably not a bad move to get the whistle since it was basically a 6-on-3 at the time and the Mankato players looked absolutely gassed as well.

NORTH DAKOTA FIGHTING SIOUX vs CC Friday game threadSiouxScore replied to Emerald joker's topic in Men's Hockey It was very evident CC came in with the strategy to not let the Sioux speed really take over and they really did a pretty good job of clogging the neutral zone up. Zane was good again coming up very big a couple times late in the 3rd. I don't know how the refs called Caggiula for the trip but somehow missed the holding call on the guy with a bear hug on him. Need to win more individual battles tomorrow night especially if CC is effective clogging up the neutral zone forcing us to dump the puck a lot again. Really hope to see some changes on that 2nd PP unit tomorrow maybe Chyzk and OD on it instead of Johnson and Murphy.

I'm not so sure of that Oshie and Nelson were both 1st round picks playing in the exact same section and a similar schedule that Crookston plays. Obviously the CHL has worked well for him but he would have played in the elite league and got a lot of exposure there and still could have been a 1st or 2nd round pick like he will be this year if he had stayed. I know some people that were close to him and when he decided to go to the CHL they said one of the biggest reason was because he wasn't a very good student and really didn't like school.
-
Agreed I want nothing to do with that matchup in the 1st round. If the Gophers are gonna make it into the NCAA's I'd rather see them sent to the Notre Dame regional or shipped out East.

Thanks for posting it was a very good article. Having played high school hockey in Minnesota and still living there I wish most if not all of the Minnesota kids would stay and play high school hockey like they use to. Hopefully someday it gets back to where it is rare to see a MN kid leave early for juniors but I don't think the chances of that are real good.
-
Hard to fault Dubnyk too much the Wild did a much better job screening him and tipping pucks on him than they ever did on the Detroit goalie last night.
-
Haha I wish I had those kinds of skills Yeo is just so predictable after a loss.
-
I believe there was interest in him from Minnesota, UND, Duluth, and many other teams but one of the things that I think allowed Omaha to land him is allowing him to come straight from Grand Rapids. Omaha allowed him to come straight from high school just playing before/after the high school season in the USHL while others wanted him to play a full year of juniors before coming in. I know there was also a little bit of a question about whether he was a good enough skater to be a good college hockey player but I think he has answered that question pretty well in his first year at UNO.
