  1. Went to the 8AA Championship at the Little Ralph tonight and really came away impressed with some Bemidji players in the Lumberjacks 2-0 win. (JR) Forward Jack Johnson really caught my eye as he was very impressive along the boards to go with some nice skill and a good skater a couple of scouts were sitting in front of me and they seemed real intrigued by him. (SO) Forward Brady Tatro had a goal and was a kid I knew about going in but really liked his game he seems like a similar player to Tanner Tweten of EGF to me but might be a little better skater. Bemidji had a real solid D group with some very good skaters but I thought (FR) Chase Hartje might have been their best. He is a smaller kid but was a real solid skater that was real good with the puck and always seemed to make the right play and despite his lack of size he used his body well to separate players from the puck.
  2. Bemidji advances to the state tournament for the first time since 1986 beating Moorhead 2-0 tonight in the 8AA Championship. It was a real fun game to watch fast and physical game with some nice skill plays. The atmosphere was pretty good and loud at times at the Little Ralph tonight as well probably about 3/4 or more full.
  3. Not showing up for most of the 1st period really cost the Wild. Can't afford to lose a game like that.
  4. No it is supposed to be one of the best RB classes in a number of years. Gordon will be a 1st round pick and Gurley still might be despite his injury there is also good depth to this RB class as well.
  5. I could see that almost kinda like last years draft where he wanted Manziel so bad and woulda drafted him if his son didn't physically stop him.
  6. Drake is one of my favorite players on the team this year but I would definitely take Kristo over him. Kristo was very good in his time here and definitely lived up to most peoples expectations.
  7. Defensemen right? I like the group the Wild have but there are definitely some others like the Blackhawks and Blues off the top of my head that I would take ahead of them when all are healthy.
  8. Josina Anderson @JosinaAnderson · Feb 22 Source w/ knowledge of the sit'n just sent this: "Adrian Peterson has not asked for a trade to the #Cowboys (cont) http://tl.gd/n_1skre21 Chris Tomasson @christomasson · 1h 1 hour ago AM repos: Sources say Adrian Peterson hasn't been approached about pay cut, hasn't asked for trade, mad at Governor http://www.twincities.com/vikings/ci_27578018/vikings-adrian-peterson-no-pay-cut-talk-no …
  9. I'm not writing him off at all I really like him as a nice puck moving defenseman with good offensive skill. I know he has battled some injuries this year as well.
  10. A top line wing, 2nd line wing, and a top 4 defenseman.
  11. I believe Bowen was with the Fargo Force earlier in the year and will play there again after the high school season so that is where he most likely will play next season. The other 3 are only juniors this year so they will have some options.
  12. EGF advances to the Section 8A Championship with a 3-2 win over Detroit Lakes Dixon Bowen had the game winning goal. Wayzata and Senden fall 3-2 to Minnetonka to end their season.
  13. True but really that would be my only concern I really wish we would have made them pay more with powerplay goals for running around just to hit guys so much.
  14. I think they are a physical team and that is really about it. Not a whole lot of skill and run around to try to throw hits more than they should. They are a team I wouldn't be concerned with at all facing again in the playoffs.
  15. Not happy about giving up the lead but nice job of refocusing and getting the win in OT. The team has been pretty solid with the lead most of the season but 2 Saturday's in a row is a little concerning but I'm confident the coaches will address the issue and expect there may be an increased focus on 6-on-5 situations in practice this week. Only was listening to TH but sounded like both of the Western Michigan goals came in kind of scramble situations and the 2nd one was soon after Caggiula had hit the crossbar so it didn't really sound to me like they were just sitting back like sometimes is the case with teams.
  16. Thief River Falls wins the Minnesota girls class A championship 3-1 over Blake.
  17. Wow what an absolute gift Penn State got on that powerplay in OT. Gopher fans may be the ones contacting their league office about officiating after todays game.
  18. Mitchell Mattson gets an assist but his Grand Rapids team sees their season end in a 3-2 loss to Duluth East. Grand Rapids put on a lot of pressure outshooting East 23-2 in the 3rd but couldn't get the tying goal.
  19. 1 goal and 1 assist for Matt Kiersted as Elk River rolls to the 7AA finals with a 9-1 win.
  20. Not real crisp but still able to pick up a win on the road. Generated some real good chances that we should have finished on and was really hoping to add another shorthanded goal on the early breakaway chance. Need to move the puck a little quicker on the powerplay and would expect to connect on a few more chances tomorrow night. I know some people were saying they really didn't want to see Western Michigan in the 1st round of the playoffs but after seeing them tonight they don't scare me at all basically all they can do is play physical.
  21. I think this would be stupid for any sport. If you are ready to play you should be able to play. This whole discussion will probably go away if the NBA ups the draft age to 20 like they have been discussed. If they actually did set a rule where Freshmen couldn't play I think there would be a lot of top end basketball players who would just go play overseas for a year and then enter the draft. One of the top NBA draft prospects is actually playing in China instead of college this year as well. http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/11246862/emmanuel-mudiay-signs-12-million-deal-china
  22. All 4 will play in section semifinals tomorrow. #1 Elk River(Kiersted) plays #5 Cloquet at 12:00 and #2 Grand Rapids(Mattson) plays #3 Duluth East following the Elk River game both at Amsoil in Duluth tomorrow. #3 Wayzata(Senden) plays #2 Minnetonka at 7:30 tomorrow night at the Bloomington Ice Garden. #1 EGF(Bowen) plays #4 Detroit Lakes at 6:00 tomorrow night at The Gardens in Warroad. I believe you can listen to both of the 7AA games at http://msbnsports.net/ they have a lot of games and could very well have the EGF and/or Wayzata game too. They also sometimes have live video broadcasts as well but I believe the MSHSL now charges if you want to have video for playoff games so it may not be as likely any of the games will have video tomorrow.
  23. I don't think anything will be officially set until the bracket is announced but last year they started out with an Eastern game and it seems like they always do. With that being the case I would guess the 1:00&4:30 games on the 27th would be the Northeast Regional and the 3:30&7:00 games on the 27th would be the West Regional games. They also started with the Eastern game first on the Saturday of the tournament last year and I would guess that would be the case again on the 28th with the East Regional games at 2:00&5:30 and the Midwest Regional games at 3:00&6:30.
  24. Watching him at EGF last year he definitely looked like it real smooth skater with some offensive skills and decent size.
  25. Tye Ausmus is a smaller puck moving defenseman while Tanner Tweten is a bigger power forward type. They both are probably potentials but I would say Tweten may be a little more likely have heard the big thing they want to see from him is a little bit more consistency and the coaches are keeping pretty close tabs on him having been at a few EGF games this season.
