I believe Bowen was with the Fargo Force earlier in the year and will play there again after the high school season so that is where he most likely will play next season. The other 3 are only juniors this year so they will have some options.

EGF advances to the Section 8A Championship with a 3-2 win over Detroit Lakes Dixon Bowen had the game winning goal. Wayzata and Senden fall 3-2 to Minnetonka to end their season.

True but really that would be my only concern I really wish we would have made them pay more with powerplay goals for running around just to hit guys so much.
-
I think they are a physical team and that is really about it. Not a whole lot of skill and run around to try to throw hits more than they should. They are a team I wouldn't be concerned with at all facing again in the playoffs.

Not happy about giving up the lead but nice job of refocusing and getting the win in OT. The team has been pretty solid with the lead most of the season but 2 Saturday's in a row is a little concerning but I'm confident the coaches will address the issue and expect there may be an increased focus on 6-on-5 situations in practice this week. Only was listening to TH but sounded like both of the Western Michigan goals came in kind of scramble situations and the 2nd one was soon after Caggiula had hit the crossbar so it didn't really sound to me like they were just sitting back like sometimes is the case with teams.

Thief River Falls wins the Minnesota girls class A championship 3-1 over Blake.

Wow what an absolute gift Penn State got on that powerplay in OT. Gopher fans may be the ones contacting their league office about officiating after todays game.
-
Mitchell Mattson gets an assist but his Grand Rapids team sees their season end in a 3-2 loss to Duluth East. Grand Rapids put on a lot of pressure outshooting East 23-2 in the 3rd but couldn't get the tying goal.

1 goal and 1 assist for Matt Kiersted as Elk River rolls to the 7AA finals with a 9-1 win.

Not real crisp but still able to pick up a win on the road. Generated some real good chances that we should have finished on and was really hoping to add another shorthanded goal on the early breakaway chance. Need to move the puck a little quicker on the powerplay and would expect to connect on a few more chances tomorrow night. I know some people were saying they really didn't want to see Western Michigan in the 1st round of the playoffs but after seeing them tonight they don't scare me at all basically all they can do is play physical.

I think this would be stupid for any sport. If you are ready to play you should be able to play. This whole discussion will probably go away if the NBA ups the draft age to 20 like they have been discussed. If they actually did set a rule where Freshmen couldn't play I think there would be a lot of top end basketball players who would just go play overseas for a year and then enter the draft. One of the top NBA draft prospects is actually playing in China instead of college this year as well. http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/11246862/emmanuel-mudiay-signs-12-million-deal-china

All 4 will play in section semifinals tomorrow. #1 Elk River(Kiersted) plays #5 Cloquet at 12:00 and #2 Grand Rapids(Mattson) plays #3 Duluth East following the Elk River game both at Amsoil in Duluth tomorrow. #3 Wayzata(Senden) plays #2 Minnetonka at 7:30 tomorrow night at the Bloomington Ice Garden. #1 EGF(Bowen) plays #4 Detroit Lakes at 6:00 tomorrow night at The Gardens in Warroad. I believe you can listen to both of the 7AA games at http://msbnsports.net/ they have a lot of games and could very well have the EGF and/or Wayzata game too. They also sometimes have live video broadcasts as well but I believe the MSHSL now charges if you want to have video for playoff games so it may not be as likely any of the games will have video tomorrow.

I don't think anything will be officially set until the bracket is announced but last year they started out with an Eastern game and it seems like they always do. With that being the case I would guess the 1:00&4:30 games on the 27th would be the Northeast Regional and the 3:30&7:00 games on the 27th would be the West Regional games. They also started with the Eastern game first on the Saturday of the tournament last year and I would guess that would be the case again on the 28th with the East Regional games at 2:00&5:30 and the Midwest Regional games at 3:00&6:30.

Watching him at EGF last year he definitely looked like it real smooth skater with some offensive skills and decent size.
-
Tye Ausmus is a smaller puck moving defenseman while Tanner Tweten is a bigger power forward type. They both are probably potentials but I would say Tweten may be a little more likely have heard the big thing they want to see from him is a little bit more consistency and the coaches are keeping pretty close tabs on him having been at a few EGF games this season.

Just pathetic the NCHC needs to step up and discipline these 2 officials but I'd bet a lot of money nothing will happen.
-
Really thought we were pretty sloppy for most of the game but still should have came away with the win if the refs had any clue at all. One of the tougher games Zane has had in a while hopefully he can bounce back next weekend. Don't get the decision to go with LJ in the shootout especially after he had a good chance to win it in OT and couldn't get the puck on his stick. So many horrible calls by the refs including 2 easy missed Siouc goals this weekend but the most obvious decision they missed was to not kick out Moore for the dirty hit. It was an easy call with the puck nowhere no Caggiula and they let him stay in the game and he ends up with 2 goals and a shootout goal as well. The NCHC needs to wake up and fine or suspend these refs that cost us 2 points this weekend. At least come NCAA tourney time we will finally get away from this years horrible NCHC officials.

Another pretty dominating performance that could have ended up a lot worse than 4-2. A lot of players had very good games but really liked the way Nick played and had some real nice setups but I do think there are times he needs to be a little more selfish and just shoot the puck.
-
Not all that surprising to me Michigan seems like a different team on the road and their goaltending and defense are very suspect. Also I thought Minnesota would eventually breakout and couldn't keep playing as bad as they had this last month or so just because of how much talent they have.
-
Yep he is another Shattuck target but he could also end up in the WHL he even has prospect of the Red Deer Rebels on his Twitter profile. It would be nice to land a couple Shattuck kids again as Minnesota seems to have that pipeline going right now.
-
I think so I have seen some say he is another kid who might be deciding between Minnesota and UND. He does follow both the Minnesota and UND hockey accounts on Twitter and those look to be the only two teams he follows.
-
I thought he would end up a Gopher but I'm definitely happy with his choice. Really good get and should be a 1st round pick in this Summers draft.
-
Aside from the other players already mentioned our only other current commit that is a MN high school player is Mark Senden from Wayzata. Wayzata has struggled a little bit record wise only at 11-11-2 right now but they do have a lot of talent. They also play in 6AA which might be the toughest section in Minnesota and while Eden Prairie is the favorite this year I really wouldn't be all that surprised to see any of EP, Benilde, Wayzata, Minnetonka, or Holy Family win it.

Lots of sloppy turnovers from the Wild tonight and still could have came away with a regulation victory. Jets had some luck tonight with a few pucks getting through Hutchison and just rolling wide and a couple posts from the Wild as well. Dubnyk was very good again tonight especially in the 1st period when the Wild were horrible. He really couldn't do much about either goal with Nino tipping the 1st in after Brodziak made no effort to get to a loose puck and the 2nd being a result of a horrible Spurgeon turnover.
-
Miami got a commit from Zach Lavalle I always liked his game when he played at Hill-Murray.
